I think that it is a matter of personal conscience. Would a mature Christian go to a strip club and order a lap dance. Lets first look at the meaning of some of the words. Lap is just a part of your body that appears when you sit down, there are no ties to mysticism with the lap and cannot be found to be wrong. The word dance and the act attached to it might have origionated in some cultures as a way to talk with the Gods while circling a campfire, or celebrating a good hunt. But more recently this has not been the case and many Christian parties have been held that included a dance, although touching of unmarried couples would not be allowed. Since, most of the act of a lap dance does not include touching, there could not be any problem for a consenting Christian to attend such an event. With that said I think that I will attend one as soon as possible.

The God of Christians is Very Vague
by frankiespeakin ini no longer consider myself a christian.. i feel that there may be a god, but if there is, he's not the god christians worship, for such a god makes no sense.. if as the bible says we need to have faith in jesus to get everlasting life,,, why would this god make it so misleading and leave so much room for ligitmate doubt,,, by having this information passed on to us by men and organizations that have not been totally honest????.
why would he use the bible to relate this information, when the bible is so full of errors????
the evidence is very clear that the bible has been tampered with over the centuries, so that a reasonable person can have legitimate doubts about the bible's origins.. also, why would god use men who are so prone to dishonesty, to convey this lifesaving information?.

It was some of the watchtowers own literature that started me to believe that the bible couldn?t be as accurate or from as high of a power as it claims. I think it was an orange study book about the authenticity of the bible that first made me think about it. It went through all of the different sources that translated the bible and how much effort they went into making it accurate. And at the end of that chapter it said that there were still errors included because the men that translated it were only human. This made me wonder with all of the other claims of how powerful and loving this god is, would he allow his own book to have errors in it and possibly mislead people. There were also claims of scientific accuracies in the bible that even primitive man of that time had already figured out. The Egyptians had calculated the diameter of the earth before Moses was around.
I guess the discussion is centered on the idea of if I believe in the Christian God or not? I think that I believe in a higher order, I don?t believe that it has been put down on paper yet.

New Directives to the Congregation in the UK
by Jim Dee inour latest elders meeting with the co has just occurred.
new things arising are:-.
1. before an ms or elder is appointed a specific question is asked:-.

The first two questions show that the child abuse issue is starting to bit them. But, it is almost a pathetic attempt at controlling it. ?Have you ever been a child molester?? ?Really??. Okay, you?re in. Every child molester out there would readily agree to this question. The fact that they are including the elderly shows a certain amount of desperation on their part. I love the meeting that highlights the annual growth rate. An Elder gets up to give a talk that highlights the statistics of some of the ?lands?. The thing that gets me is he will say ?such-and-such place had a 13% growth rate?, but fail to include that there are only 15 publishers in that country. It will be another year of cooking the books and showing a nominal growth rate.

...has Already Committed Adultery
by YoursChelbie inhere's my thoughts on why jesus said: .
"..it was said, 'you must not commit adultery.
' but i say to you that everyone who keeps on looking at a woman so as to have a passion for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.

A person?s conscience can be tied into a biblical code as the JW?s have done. That way they can all look at a subject and have a clear-cut answer. Once, you get away from them you must apply another set of morals, one that takes into account the other person. I would not commit adultery for the reason that I would not want to hurt my wife or family. Also, there are long-term issues that a person must consider. I made choices when I settled down and started a family, I am happy that I made them and will deal with the consequences.
Do I lust after other women and look at other women. I am a guy, but please read through the first part of my post again.

My knowledge on this subject is completely limited. There are items in satellites that seem to wear out over time. The batteries do not go on forever, the orbit slowly degrades, and there are probably other things that go wrong. It seems like everything has to be replaced at one point or another. Wasn?t the existence of the Hubble in question just a while back?
As for the threat of a Nuclear Armageddon, I think that this is how the uneducated are supposed to be scared. I will agree that at this time in history we are probably at more of a risk of Nuclear weapons explosions from small governments or terrorist groups, but I seriously doubt annihilation. The whole idea behind nuclear proliferation was to stop such a threat. A few years back I heard a teen girl talk about the threat of an all out nuclear war at that time. This was during the time that the Soviet Union had dissolved and the threat was not the same as during the cold war days.

I once posted that scholar should add a BS to all of the other degrees, because that is what seems to come out the most. then he can add a PhD to the whole mess (Pile higher & Deeper).
He really does like to put the credentials on the end of his posts. Just because a person gets religfious degrees makes them an expert on the religious bend oof every discusion.

"Comments You Will Not Hear at the 2/15/04 WT Study" by Blondie
by Gopher inin blondie's absence this week, i am posting the comments she sent me for the week's watchtower study.
since the article is mainly a statistical recap of jw statistics for 2003 (and basically the wts patting themselves on the back), this post is shorter than blondie's usual commentary.
comments you will not hear at the 2-15-04 wt study

I think by PEAK, they mean the maximum that year, not the highest peak ever, si I don't think it was a lie.
I think that it is a great statement to confuse the ranks, and al that you need is one person to believe it to corrupt the rest of the group. Which is exactly what happened during Sundays meeting. One of the Dubs said that with the peak numbers of witnesses in Japan that they will be well over 218,000 next year.
Klaus: those are some very good figures that you have mentioned. It sounds like you have a very good passion for seeing the end of their system of things. Let?s all cheer Blondie for continuing this study.

Where did evil come from?
by laurelin ini'm new here, i only just found this site the other day so i don't know if i'm repeating something that has already been covered.
i'm sorry if i am.. can anyone help me on the scripture in genesis 2v9.. it says that god created two trees, the tree of life and the tree of knowledge of good and bad.
these were put into the garden before adam and obviously before adam and eve sinned.. if this is the case, does that mean god created bad?

Laurelin: you have a very thought provoking question. Do not get into to much detail during a study, the conductor might just ignore you and say ?that the answer will come when you have more faith?. Wasn?t I told that enough.
Leolaia: those are some very good quotes. I will definitely use them the nest time that I go in-depth with an elder.
Let me try to recap the position that the WT has on this point. Which all witnesses may not share, but is what I was told during my time ?in?. God created everything perfect, but gave everyone the option to do bad things. He created perfect humans that became imperfect after the fruit was eaten. He created perfect angels and one of them, Lucifer, decided to be bad and became evil. This goes against, in my opinion, the idea that God created everything. If he did then he would have also created evil, but that would go against a loving God. The whole story of Eden, yes I realize that it is mythology, is just another test that god put the humans through. He is basically the only bad person in the whole story. I had never thought about the tree of good and bad, and cannot wait to use it during my next in-depth discussion.
