We have had a public needs talk just recently on why the kids should stay in the Borg. In a Nutshell, stay where it is safe and you might live forever or go into the world with drugs and evil where you will die.

The Watchtower In Crisis: Why They Can't Raise Good Kids
by metatron inif there any single factor that i would rate as the highest priority in raising a child, it is this:.
teach them to be caring, loving adults who care about other people.. we've already noted, ad nauseum, how witnesses are largely impelled by motives other than love in their "ministry".
"pioneer stroll" and fantasies about who's-house-you-want-after-armageddon, there is a further problem in raising witness kids.

About the Tree of Knowledge.
by Blueblades ingod told adam and eve not to eat of the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil.
if this were the only venue through which they could understand the difference between good and evil, how could they have known that it was wrong to disobey god and eat the fruit?.

I have had a couple of discussions on this issue with my wife. She tells me the standard line that the fruit was not the issue it was the disobedience towards gods word that was the actual problem. But, I always tell her that if someone did not know the difference between right and wrong then how would they know that it was disobeying, or even what that would imply.
If you put a marshmallow in front of a four year old and told them that you were going to leave the room for ten minutes if they do not eat the marshmallow while you are gone then they will receive a second marshmallow when you get back and they can eat both. I bet there will not be a marshmallow when you return.
The real evil in this story is Eve, who knew that it was wrong to have Adam eat from the fruit.
After God finds out what they have done the story even goes on to say. ?Look they have become like one of us, knowing the difference between right and wrong?. I guess that it is very godly to have morals.

Finish this sentence...trying to reason with a JW is like......
by doodle-v intrying to reason with a devout jehovah's witness is like........

Trying to play a devil?s advocate, because I can?t think of any good ones.
Trying to explain to your cat to stop climbing on the stove and stealing a chicken wing.
Good one, but you could kill the cat.
... trying to explain the concepts of calculus to a 4-year-old.
That is a good one, but the 4-year-old will not think that you are an apostate.
like spinning around in circles and making yourself so dizzy that you puke!
This is the feeling that you have after trying to reason to the JW.
... smashing your head against a brick wall. It feels so good when you stop!
Okay, this is close.
like talking into the speaker at Sonic and expecting them to actually listen to you and get your order right.
Okay, they don?t listen to you and give you what they want to in the end. But, they still don?t think that you are an apostate.
like trying to extinguish the fire of the sun by blowing one's nose
good one.
is like reasoning with an inhabitant of Unreasonableville at the Unreasonableville Annual Rememberance Party for the most dedicated unreasonable person to have ever inhabited unreasonableville and who, as a direct result of his obscene unreasonableness, was martyred for the cause during the unreasonableville war with the neighbouring town of reasonableville.
Maybe, if I could understand it.
Trying to reason with a Jehovah's Witness is like trying to teach a pig to sing, it wastes your time, and annoys the pig.
Good one.
not a smart thing to do, the witness is proud as a peacock because he thinks he's won and you are frustrated by the total mind control these folks are under. ........
Good one.
...getting a thousand paper cuts and jumping into a pool of lemon juice.
That would be your feeling after you have been told the JW party line.
taking a huge dump and then looking in the toilet and not seeing anything
But, the toilet does not think you are an apostate, and at least you had some satisfaction of unloading. Could only work if you killed the JW.
...swatting a fly with a Buick
Nope. This could be done.
picking your nose while driving down a bumpy road.
Nope. This could be done. Unless you do not clean out your nose in the end.
...asking the Terminator not to come back.
He only came back three times.
Is like peeing against the wind with your mouth wide open.
I am trying to figure out if you did not get any satisfaction out of this one.
trying to play frisbee with an anvil.
Good one.
?like telling a Moslem that they are wrong.
?like telling a Jew that Jesus was the messiah.

My Son is starting to hit problems with JW Mother.
by AlanB inmy son is 15 and lives with his mother in a strict jw reigime.
he told me the other day that he made arrangements to meet his friend from school to go skateboarding.
his mother found out and made him call his friend from school and cancel.. she then gave him a long lecture, complete with a young people ask video about association.

I hope that you are in a situation that would allow you to let your son become himself, and make his own mistakes. No matter how many warnings we recieve from parents, or cults, we all go out to make those mistakes on our own. If your son remains sheltered at a youthfull age he may decide to act out as a young adult, or he may just remain in the cult forever and never learn any life siuations. Of course, this all takes the position that going out skateboarding with his friends will lead to fornication and drug abuse as we are all taught. The best thing that could happen is that he will go out and have a good time with friends.

Do jw's believe dinosaurs existed?
by farmer in?
and what do they believe or not about evolution?
-

even though the watchtower claims that there can be mutation within a kind, as heathen pointed out. that still leaves a lot of mutations from Noah's time until our own.

If you look up the WT definition of the word ?Kind? you will get a discussion on the kind of animals that Noah packed into the ARK. This will be a much smaller figure than what we have on the earth today, and then the article will state that from these kinds we have all of the species that are on the earth today. Show that to a Dub that does not believe in evolution, I have. Then explain that all of the different species of animals that are on the earth today probably don?t even resemble the ones that god originally created.

Another JW Questions 1914 At The Meeting!!!
by minimus inmy mother told me that a regular pioneer in his 60's from a nearby hall questioned how we could be sure 1914 was the date christ was enthroned as king of the kingdom.
he questioned the brother conducting the meeting for field service.
it didn't go well......he left that hall and is reported missing in action!

Minimus: I like the thought that the Lite keeps getting colder, Miller lite that is. Cypher50: this is the claim that I have heard before. ?Why would a loving god give us a manual that we could not understand?? Then they would pull weird scripture and apply 360 day years and manipulate numbers to get the ones that they want.

Possible Economic Defeat of the Watchtower
by metatron inthe organization collectively owns a lot of property.
however, i believe they are thinly 'financed', if you will.. since contributions have sagged so badly in recent years, it leaves them vunerable to many different factors.. for one thing, i think that the organization was strongly protected from lawsuits by witnesses - or their relatives.
because such a thing was considered unthinkable, something you didn't do.

I have seen the spin control that they put on all of their money saving ventures. When their rags went from a subscription to picking them up at the hall, to save on postage, everyone said that it was getting ready for the time when the system broke down and the postal system wouldn?t work. The hardliners will look for the pearl in the pile of manure, and not realize that things are going bad.
A constant subject on this board at the beginning of the year centers on the annual statistics and how they are obviously cooking the books. I have seen comments on this board that point out manipulations in attendance that are so easily accepted at the meetings. I would not doubt that this year will show another marginal increase in attendance, probably not as many at the memorial, and a big increase in those hours. But, this will cover the fact that the average witness family who attends meetings (about 50%) will give about $40 a month.
I have noticed that at conventions and assemblies that we are almost stepped through the process of donating. I do not want to hear the story about the poor woman in the bible who gave everything that she could and this meant more than the rich man who just gave what was expected.
