approximately five weeks ago, i visited the local library and searched every book i could find that discusses the destruction of jerusalem in ancient times.
if you didn't see that thread, you can find it here: http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/watchtower/bible/192813/1/607-b-c-e-a-trip-to-the-local-library-with-pictures.
the results were conclusive: all secular sources agree that jerusalem was destroyed in 587/586 bce.
Great job, Mentally Free! Bookmarked.

Thank you for posting this, Dear Blondie.
What a wonderful, wonderful man.
with everthing ive read here it seems like eeveryone has the attitude that they cant fix the wts.
why havent you all joined together and made a declaration of independence?
why not fix it and make a true religion of peace and jesus' message?
(mmmm... bacon!)
~~~
The true religion would be based on questions, not answers.
a friend just shared this quote with me.
he read it in "pass the jelly; tales of ordinary enlightenment" by gary crowley, in which the narrator makes witty zen observations as he wanders through his day.
while having a discussion with some jehovah's witnesses who came to his door, he tells them, "it seems to me you folks are worshiping the teapot instead of drinking the tea.
BY, can I say I love you? This thought has made my day.
Please, and most certainly, On the Way... and I love you, too! So glad it resonated with you. I absolutely LOVE your experience you shared. Thank you.
leo, do you have reference books about the bible stored on your computer?
you seem to have a lot of info at your disposal that you can pull up quickly.
what is your motive for learning so much about the bible?
I agree with you, Not a Captive!
and Primate Dave:
Ironic, isn't it, that we live in the so-called Information Age, and yet we look to ancient documents in order to find the divine?
That is perfectly quotable, thank you!
how you live your life.
concerns me not, but,.
strangely, pulls me in.
Lovely... it resonates and hums deeply in my head, Dear CoCo.
A phrase knocking about in the skull gives birth to many sentences.
More reason to rejoice!
By the way, in answer to your question, Daniel:
Tea = spiritual nourishment/enlightenment/relationship with God/etc.
Teapot = The religion or organization itself
Is that how you see it?
Yes, that was exactly how I saw it. I think this works particularly well with the Witnesses & the "Organization", a.k.a. publishing company.
And Cage said:
Number of times Jesus mentioned the Watchtower in the Bible - zero
Number of times Jesus mentioned homosexuals in the Bible - zero
Number of time Jesus said to love my neighbor- several
Number of times Jesus said I didn't have to be perfect just accept him as my saviour- several.
Now, who wants a beer?
Cage, great way to sum it up!
