  I'm going to a birthday party!

  my mum's best friend's daughter's 18th in november, and i'm definitely going and my sister probably is (she's out at the moment)!

  she didn't have a birthday party until this one because with me and my little sis being jw it meant two less people to go (we're more family than friends) so she missed out on birthday parties too and she wasn't even jw!.

  i just need to think of the perfect present to make up for all those years.. it official that i'm not a jw now if i go and it's a bit scary because 100% not wanting to be a jw has happened so suddenly (after finding everything out about the scandals, i was about 90% out before) - i didn't celebrate my birthday in june and i didn't celebrate my friend's birthday the week after and now i can't wait for christmas and for june to roll around again.. i'm so excited!!

  Of course you can sing Happy Birthday! Think about it....what are you going to do? I suppose you could just stand there with a stupid fake smile on your face....or you could pretend to have to use the bathroom>very suspicious. Maybe you could get full of fear and put on an angry face>why go then?

  Seriously, I had those initial jitters as well BUT there is absolutely NOTHING wrong with the words to Happy Birthday. Actually the silly lyrics are a bit on the drab side. You have nothing to worry about! Except of course the blowing out of candles and making a wish to some fairy. I have to admit, in my house we skip that part....the wish...(.not the candles).........we say a prayer instead, thanking God for the person to love.

  It is just plain fun to show someone love. There is no LAW agaginst love......have fun.. dj

  it is interesting to hear the reasons why jehovah's witnesses have a much higher rate of mental illness than the normal population.

  Hi again Outoftheorg,

  If you have apologized, asked for his forgiveness and hugged him then that is all you can do! I understand completely the confusion/anger and taking it out on someone else. We have probably all done it. I hope that he is able to atleast forgive you? Unfortunately, you cannot erase his past or the effect it has had on him. So sorry for that. There are consequenses that we suffer as a result of the borg as you well know. They've caused pain in ourselves and our families and friends. I think it would be sooo beneficial for you to atleast forgive yourself! You did the best you could at that time! Have you ever spoken to your son the way you have spoken here. My God, I think he'd be moved to tears. Healing tears! Maybe regret, can go to our graves with us but you can find relief for the grief and shame. I mean, I am not your child but I was raised in the wt and I only got out 7 years ago. I am 41 now. My family is still in it. I would forgive my parents in a heartbeat for the mental and physical abuse they put us children thru......if they'd only see it that way. For crying out loud....you have learned from your mistake!   I really believed myself too...when I said I was leaving and ranted and raved and left for a week and a half. I think it was PMS for me. LOL. I hope that's what is for you, too.   I always get a chuckle from you. Hard to believe that you are not always so funny. PERSPECTIVE you need some PERSPECTIVE. Tell the boss man that you can only afford to pay it in increments, if you need to.

  Hi Outoftheorg,

  I can't see any reason why you wouldn't want to talk with your son about it. I think he'd welcome your love and concern. I think that it would be a tremendous help to talk with you about it again, especially since you never felt quite right about the way it was left. Yes, go hug your son and tell him it's ok and you undestand and that the WT is an insane cult who attacks the minds of innocent children. Let him know that he probably he be completely different (healthy-minded) if it wasn't for them.

  All I know is that if I raised my children in this cult.......I would beg for their forgiveness. luv, dj

  First and the Last of Rev 1:17 - why in caps?

  referring to the excellent "kitchen" witness scene in gregbetre's thread regarding jw's denying the deity of the christ, i do have one question..... .

  rev 1:8; 17-18; 22:13 states that jesus christ is the alpha and the omega, the first and the last, and the beginning and the end.

  i don't think it is true that all jw's will say that rev 1:17 refers to jehovah.

  i don't think so.sorry if you are one i have nothing against you personnally, nor jw's come to think of it, but offering your version of truth to jw's is for them to jump out of the frying pan into the fire.. the bible is the root of jw problems , and following that book in which ever way you wish will always be in error..
