WT stands by the belief that the New Testament only applies to the 144,000 anointed. I cannot find the quote, but I know it was in one of the study pubs, that if you look in the front of the Greek scripture letter and it applies to "holy ones" then it is not written to the rank and file.

heaven/earth
by GramblingMan inok someone help me out here, from reading 1corinthians 15:35-58. it appears that paul's letter is to the whole church.
i draw the conclusion from this that the resurrected body is for everyone.
well the jw that came by says that all of the church of corinthia was annointed so that's why they have a heavenly hope.

I also saw in one of the news stories that David Pleake had also just completed a sentence previously that ordered him to have an interlock device on his car - he was three months out of that order. And he was an elder? Wonder how he went in service with that on his car? Hmmm.....

What is this cult fascination about mexico as a travel destination?
by cultswatter inin my area (canada, british columbia) i hear nothing but jws planning a trip to mexico or just returning from mexico.
this is driving me nuts.
i overheard jws talking about travel plans to mexico and they kept reffering to the hotel they were staying at as the "compound" .

They want people to move there as part of an English speaking group to pioneer where the need is greater. Cost of living cheaper, etc.

Any positive experiences with the JWs?
by greendawn inwe all talk about our negative experiences with the jws and no doubt most were negative but weren't there any positive experiences with some of the few decent jws around?
i recall an old jw who was of the anointed and who was very benign, knowledgable, supportive and opposed to much that the dubs were doing especially the lack of love among the congregations.
also another very good natured dub who would always reward me whenever i gave him a little help with his business.

Friends - tons, but yes, they were conditional. Lots of the older ones really loved me and took me under their wing. Some of these same older ones still give me huge hugs on sight, despite df'ing. They have more sense that that!!!! LOL - There are great people everywhere, with or without labels.

Talk on Apostates
by IslandBrother inhave you ever walked on the beach and tried following another persons footprints; matching your own steps with them as exactly as possible?
by calling ourselves christians, we have indicated our desire to do just that, to follow closely in the footsteps of christ.
have you ever noticed though that on a crowded beach, , there were several sets of footprints, many of them may look alike.

IslandBrother:
Thank you for abundantly proving the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society to be indeed, apostate. You state that apostates profess to know and serve God but reject teachings or requirements set out in his Word. The actions of the Watchtower presidents, among whom were child molestors, adulterers and alcoholics, speak loudly that they did indeed reject God's teachings.
Acts 20:30 states that men will rise and speak twisted things to draw away the disciples after themselves. Russell did indeed pursue such a course. He stepped away from Christianity and developed a new teaching to draw followers.
We are told to keep an eye on those who cause stumbling contrary to the teaching that we have learned. I will indeed keep a close eye on those who twist Christianity and a God of love and grace into a demanding and vengeful God.
- Counterfeit words - WT guilty
- Smooth talk - WT guilty
- Twisted reasoning - WT quilty
- Half Truths - WT guilty
- Flattery - WT guilty
- Deceptive logic - WT guilty
- Empty Speeches - WT guilty
- Outright lies - WT guilty
True Christians do not want to deviate from the path Christ has set before us. This is so true. Therefore, I choose to follow Christ as Lord and His path of love.

Were you a loud singer?
by HockeyMullet ini don't know why, but i was just thinking of this guy in my hall that sang so loud that it was embarassing to just be there.
he sounded like the love child of kermit the frog and miss piggy.
i remember trying to mimick his voice during one song and getting counseled by one of the bros because i had a few of younger guys laughing.

We were told that if we could hear the person next to you, you weren't singing loud enough. I think it depended on the cong and the song.

He ought to fit right in:
http://www.contracostatimes.com/mld/cctimes/news/local/crime_courts/16756029.htm#recent_commexcerpts:
The four-time sex offender said he has found himself in a locked hospital again because many of the rules he had to follow while living in society were too strict. He grew frustrated with them.
Verse was convicted of adult charges of assaulting four males from 1988 to 1992. He assaulted a 14-year-old when he was 17, a 17-year-old when he was 18, another 14-year-old when he was 19 and a 23-year-old when he was 21.
Now, his section of his four-man bedroom is bare, except for two issues of the Jehovah's Witness magazine, Watchtower, leaning upright on a window sill next to his bed. He is looking forward to getting out, and he intends on sticking to his goals of going to college and becoming a chef.
He still hopes to marry and have children, despite his sexual feelings for men.
Individual therapy takes up about one hour a week for Verse. He goes to the gym and to Jehovah's Witness religious services twice a week. And he is trying to learn Spanish on audio tapes.
