Outstanding letter, Jon! I spent the last hour and a half reading all of it, (I rarely do that with very long posts, btw...).
If you don't mind, I'd like to keep a copy of this for ideas for my own family.

while he says he has not seen a letter ,he tells me that at the last visit the co told his body of elders pretty much what is being said here on jwd.. he gave some examples: .
1- if a young ms/pioneer, attends college and lives at home, would he and his elder dad be deleted?
the young man is "spiritually focused".. 2- an elder's daughter attends college in the hopes of having a good job in the future and dad promotes this course of action.
This one is just plain over the top. If this is for real, there will be serious repercussions in the borg. They would much better off just banning college outright, rather than create such a subjective, (and might I add pharasaical sounding), approach to controlling who can or can't decide to go to college.
I was skeptical for a while of whether or not the borg was in its death throws, but this seems to make it that much more clear to me.

watched tom tonight, and thought he made some excellent points.
i called, and actually got through, but the producer didn't put me on.
i wanted to ask tom if his leaving bethel in 1980 had any connection with the whole ray franz/ed dunlap incident, which was happening then.. as tom knows, i'm one of those ex-jws who became an atheist, so i took quite a different path than he did in leaving the jws, and i certainly don't agree with his conclusions.
Hi Tom and S4,
Does EWTN plan to re-air this anytime soon? I missed it, but would like to see it.

for those of you who arrived late to the watchtower study, the original post is here:.

Nice one, V!

i was just curious about this - as i've noticed that when some on the board are trying to be helpful or assist some who have faded or exited the jehovah's witnesses to deal with their circumstances - whether it's dealing with believing mates, relatives, or in making an independent stand for their freedom - at times people will come on the board sticking up for the cult mind control ways of the jws and attempt to hinder some of us from assisting a person to attain freedom from the witness cult .
i guess my question is - what would make a person come join an obvious anti-witness discussion board to come and communicate positive vibes about the witnesses ?
correct me if i'm wrong, but aren't there jehovah's witnesses websites people can post on to find and enjoy those of like mind and faith.
The apologists on the site make some of the best arguments against the bOrg. Keep 'em comming.

for me, it's having friends that i don't have to hide my lack of meeting attendance/service from.
it's amazing how they teach you that only jws can be your real friends, but in reality, it's all contingent upon your religious "performance.
" sure, if you're not going to meetings, they'll try to be "friends," by encouraging you to go back.
In a word...Freedom.

my mother had this discussion yesterday.
basically, my main argument was that if the fds gets jehovah's holy spirit and their "food" is "the truth", yet they always are correcting themselves, how can anyone in all fairness believe it's "the truth"??
you can't show scripturally why organ transplants are a form of cannibalism and clearly a disfellowshipping offense and a couple of years later after possible disfellowshippings or death, and then believe jehovah god changed his view suddenly.
Trust those who are searching for the truth, mistrust those who have found it!!!!
Amen, Alpaca!

They don't teach truth. If they did, they would not need to protect it from scrutiny.

Clapton and Hendrix come to mind first..
Some of the more "stylistic" type like Knophler and Buckingham are pretty good in thier own right, IMHO.

today is mother's day, but not for the 7,000,000 jehovah's witnesses out there.. next month is father's day but not for the 7,000,000 jehovah's witnesses out there.. the first monday in september is labor day in the u.s. but 7,000,000 jehovah's witnesses would rather labour in the preaching work.. november 25 is thanksgiving day but 7,000,000 jehovah's witnesses would rather do return visits and bother people who are giving thanks to god.. christ's memorial happens once a year (or week) for many christian denominations, but 6,991,000 jehovah's witnesses would rather observe a meal in progress instead of eat it.. every day someone has a birthday but 7,000,000 jehovah's witnesses would rather ignore their birthday and so something else.. all year round people celebrate and attend college graduations but millions of jehovah's witnesses would only attend a high-school graduation.. .
what exactly do jehovah's witnesses celebrate if anything?
they have no zest for life, few hobbies and outside interests.. a wt article a few years ago encouraged people to put their hobbies aside to simplify their life for kingdom pursuits.. jehovah's witnesses in my opinion, do not celebrate life.
No. I can honestly say it was any/all "outside" interests that helped me see the organization was full of lies. "Real" life did not equal the WTBTS's worldview of life...I began to see something was wrong.
