Even Jesus experienced physical pain, so that is not what the scripture speaks of when it says that "pain will be no more." In paradise, the "former things" such as death, would be no more, and thus the emotional pain associated with them, too, would be gone. But, I agree with darthfader that such a state is not possible in this Universe.

No pain in paradise?
by Hikaru iner... i'd like serious answers on this please, because it's been on my mind ever since brought up.. okay, so a friend and i were debating on aim, and it went to the paradise thing.
and he brought up a point...that i can't answer, grandma said there is an answer, but she doesn't know it.. so anyways, they say jehovah will wipe out pain in the new system.
but wouldn't he have to kill emotions and love then?

Human perfection is supposed to eliminate jealousy, envy, greed, and hurtful desires that cause emotional pain. Personally, I no longer believe in that, but that is what Witnesses are told.
Ask yourself, what would Jesus do?

I would go to a Unitarian Church even though I'm basically agnostic/atheist. I went to a Catholic Church one Sunday last year, and it was ok.

Evolution is not Random: Natural Selection
by rebel8 in"some christians who are not educated about the evolutionary process seem to think that evolution is about random chance.
the fact is that evolution is brought about by a process called natural selection.
natural selection is definitely not random.

I agree with you, but you're "preaching to the choir." What you just described still looks like "random chance" to a fundamentalist believer. That kind of mind wont accept anything less than a Master Designer in Heaven. (Which is why I don't bother with the "evolution or creation" debate anymore.)

Texas Public Schools Required to Teach Bible This Year
by leavingwt intexas public schools required to teach bible this year.
the school year is almost here, and if literature of the bible is not already offered in your child's school, it will be this fall.. books are a common sight in classrooms around the nation, but the bible is one book that is not.
come this fall, a texas law says all public schools must offer information relating to the bible in their curriculum.

Maybe they can use Watchtower publications as "Bible study aids"?

Romans 10:13 - got owned in a jw study. need help with greek.
by bohm infor reasons i have posted on another topic i have become involved with a study with a rather knowledgeable jw.
i try to stay clear of the scripture (im an atheist who have never read the bible so i have desided to agree with his interpretation of the scripture for the sake of argument, however to say that when it come to interpretations of the bible, there are also many other ways to think about it, and it require significant research for me to commit to one particular view).
we talked about how you know jehovahs witness have the truth and ofcourse the conversation went into the usual topics like using the name jehovah (however, it did end where i felt it should, on jesus selection in 1918, more on that on another thread).

Unfortunately, I can see valid points on both sides, much as I hate to admit it. It's kind of like one of those optical illusion drawings where if you look at it one way you see an old woman, but if you look at it another way, you see someone else.
Drop this. It's ultimately meaningless if you are atheist. I would prefer to pick apart the old blue Creation book by exposing its out-of-context quotes instead.

Singapore PM warns religion threatens stability By ALEX KENNEDY
Associated Press
2009-08-17 12:40 AMFonts Size: E-Mail This Printer-Friendly Singapore's prime minister warned Sunday in his National Day speech that "aggressive preaching" by religious groups and attempts to convert others threaten the tiny city-state's stability. Lee Hsien Loong, a Buddhist by birth, said his education at the island's Catholic High School was an example of how different religions can coexist peacefully.
"The most visceral and dangerous fault line (in Singapore) is race and religion," Lee said.
Singapore's majority Buddhist Chinese, Malay Muslims and Indian Hindus have largely avoided conflict since race riots between Chinese and Malays left about 40 dead in the 1960s.
"Christians can't expect this to be a Christian society," he said. "Muslims can't expect this to be a Muslim society, ditto with the Buddhists, the Hindus and the other groups."
In the most recent census in 2000, 43 percent of Singaporeans said they were Buddhist, 15 percent Muslim, 15 percent Christian, 8.5 percent Taoist and 4 percent Hindu.
Lee cited the case of a Christian couple who were jailed earlier this year for distributing religious pamphlets deemed offensive to adherents to other faiths, and he condemned those who try to convert ailing hospital patients "who don't want to be converted."
"You push your religion on others, you cause nuisance and offense," he said.
He also singled out a group from an evangelical Christian church who briefly took control of a women's association in April and said they opposed what they claimed was the association's advocacy of homosexuality. They were voted out soon after.
"This was an attempt by a religiously motivated group to enter civil space, take over an NGO they don't approve of and impose their agenda," Lee said. "This risked a broader spillover into relations between different religions."
He said the government must remain secular because Singapore's authority and laws "don't come from a sacred book." Lee's People's Action Party has ruled Singapore since independence 50 years ago.
"We have to keep religion separate from politics," he said.
Lee said Singapore's prosperity depends on people respecting the beliefs of others.
"We all have to adopt 'Live and let live' as our principle."
I don't see any problems. He isn't against religion itself, just organized attempts at religious conversion and political manipulation.

I have to agree with some of the comments above. You are trying too hard to please him. Fix what you normally would, the way you always have, for yourself and everyone else in the family. On the side, make some basic rice and beans. With the right seasonings rice and beans can be tasty. He can eat as much rice and beans as he wants as a vegan and suffer no ill effects. If you also make leafy green salads, leave the dressings off, and he can eat all the leafy greens he wants as a vegan and add his choice of non-dairy dressings. If he wants expensive prepared vegan foods, he can buy them himself with his own money. Eating vegan can be simple and inexpensive (and healthy - see the video above). There's no need for you to go to all kinds of trouble over it.
