Counter to Proplog2 on Cults
by Amazing inproplog2 has engaged in a serious debate on those who support the identification of cults ... and much of the material he cites has been aimed at discrediting margaret singer, a known expert on cults.. i checked the following as suggested by proplog2: anyone who speaks against singer is labeled a "cult-apologist".
if you don't know about margaret singer do a search on google.com using the following words margaret singer & apa .
i conducted this search and checked the first page of sites.

Anticultists, APA & Margaret Singer
by proplog2 inmargaret singer is one of the favorite "experts" of those who like to paint with a wide "cult-accusing" brush.. anyone who speaks against singer is labeled a "cult-apologist".
if you don't know about margaret singer do a search on google.com using the following words margaret singer & apa .
apa is the main professional association of psychologists.. please be warned.

Prop, haven't you already been over this?
"destructive high-control group"
"cult"Whatever.
I think it's important that people study trends in high-control groups or "cults". Guess I'm just an "anti-cultist" because I do believe there are existing similiarities (behavioral/sociological/psychological etc.)in destructive, high-control groups.

My visit to WT official site
by larc inenglishman has a thread about the generation idea and the apostates - most interesting.
after reading this, it occured to me it would be interesting to go to the official watchtower internet site and use there search function on different words and see what they had to say.
here is what i found out.. first of all, they do not show complete articles.

Well, that just clears it up for me. Repeatedly put in print that X is the enemy of your cause. Repeatedly put in print that X is the "disgusting thing" that will turn people away from your cause, persecute countless people affiliated with your cause and will attempt to prevent others from joining your cause.
Then go to X, solicit a cooperative relationship with your enemy and agree to promote your enemy.
Why? Oh, because they've got a lot of books!
Does it matter that you can have access to books without jeopardizing your morals? No. Does it matter that you just sought out the help of X, who you believe will later abuse members of your cause? No. Do you tell members of your cause that you just initiated a cooperative relationship with the groups nemesis? No.
It makes perfect sense. when dealing with people I don't trust, I always haphazardly go into situations and not check facts.
I guess they just weren't being cautious as serpents?
I guess God's chosen people weren't chosen because they're very thorough, eh?

Religion: The Bane of Humanity
by Adam inso yesterday i showed the receptionist some comments that i had posted on a different board.
the gist of the post was that i thought god's punnishment of the entire human race for the actions of one person, namely adam, was a gross miscarrage of justice.
also that bible tells us of this act, then says that he is a god of love, contradicting it's self.

Do they pipe in "scenes from hell" on monitors in heaven or is she planning on burning in hell forever right along side of you?
For some, hell is other people.
paraphrased from SartreFor others, heaven must be watching others rot in hell and knowing that it's not you suffering.

Advice from a Christian robot.
by expatbrit inare you struggling with an important decision in your life and you don't know what the theological consequences are?
then come on over and bring your question to the robot-adviser.
it plugs your question into the same, but seemingly universal bible verses every time.

Here is an advise for you
Your decision to lick my puppy's naughty bits has following positive aspects:
it may increase your resistance to sin
The negative sides however include:
it will be a stumbling block to others
I hope that my questions had helped you to make situation concerning your decision either or not to lick my puppy's naughty bits more clear. If you want to really make a wise decision - pray God for wisdom in a light of what Bible teaches us about our attitudes.
If any of you is lacking in wisdom, ask God, who gives to all generously and ungrudgingly, and it will be given you. But ask in faith, never doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, driven and tossed by the wind; for the doubter, being double-minded and unstable in every way, must not expect to receive anything from the Lord.

The Pixies!!!!
(sadly, they are no longer together)The Cure is also a favorite.
As for favorite songs I like old jazz numbers- a little Nina Simone...
Another song I really like but rarely ever hear is "Juliet" by Dire Straits. I was just thinking about that song the other day so it popped into my head when I read this topic.
