  Not a bad little hangout!

  i was looking at a magazine while waiting for my son to come out from seeing his doctor a couple of weeks ago, and it had an article in it about dick cheney.

  (i think it was a magazine named architecture.

  ) it showed pictures of the home cheney is favored with living in during his tenure as vice president of the united states.

  When I was younger they took my mom to court over it. And won. I was not allowed to go to meetings and was forced to celebrate holidays. But, my dad gave that up because he was tired of me moping during that time. And making him feel bad, he said.

  They still say bad things about me and JWs in general. Yet, have never took time to really learn much about us.

  Right now, my brohter is sort of interested in a witness girl. My dad and step mom are having a cow over it. In fact they took my brothers money so that he couldn't go and see her. But, he went and seen her any way. It wasn't a date, he was just going to see her at work. He's 17, will be 18 next month, and the sister is 16.5.

  Any way, personally I just become close to my spiritual family and try to not let them bother me. I let them believe what they want. And I know I have the truth, and that's all that matters to me.

  It used to sadden me that my dad may die at armegeddon, but now I know what ever Jehovah's will is will be done. And Jehovah is just and fair. So I do not worry over it any more.

  I just try to study and stay close the the congregation. And really I have no friends outside the congregation in general. Congregation meaning the whole assoiation of brothers world wide.

  Besides, family meaning people like my fleshly brother. I really do not have any friends who are not witnesses. And I limit my association with my worldly family as well..."

  It's pretty sad seeing families suffer as a result of religion.

  in short, the baptist church in iowa got a permanent restraining order against anyone who is "unsaved.

  This is a spoof site. The satire is priceless. It's completely hysterical. The bible quizzes are great too. One of my favorite offerings was the Valentine's day shirt they had for sale. It said, "I've got a heart on for Jesus". Too much! Don't believe a word of that site but have fun.

  "Science" is not a company. It's not an organization. "Science" doesn't have a board of directors or legal advisors or propagandists. Some scientific groups or businesses have those things, no doubt, but those would be specific to each organization. In fact, if you look at pharmaceutical companies, you'll find they are held accountable when their products damage life quality or result in death. They are not held responsible for all deaths of X illness prior to their manufacturing a pill to treat said illness- because that would be idiocy. They ARE liable when a product they create to treat X illness bears truly negative results (death/damage).
  If you look at organ transplantation- there were no bans on such a medical treatment prior to 1967 in watchtower writings (correct me if I'm wrong). However after 1967, when they enacted a ban- people died as a result of THEIR ban. The watchtowers PLACEBO failed. Which is why they "recalled" it in 1980.
  Now, like tobacco makers- they can argue that people willingly complied- but everybody knows that argument has seen it's day in court for tobacco companies and been shot down. I figure at some point or other the 'tower will have a similar situation in courts as well.

  So, in short "science" is a field of study that has numerous branches and uses. It isn't a company. You are trying to compare a field of study to a company. That won't work as analogy in any manner, it's broad and unspecific not mention their is no discernable relationship between these things.

  point 1: i just attended a seminar by michael josephson, who runs the josephson institute of ethics.

  you might know of him from his "character counts" spots on the radio.. anyway, one phrase he repeated was "if you allow it, you encourage it.

  " i immediately thought of the jw policy of "2 witnesses" before something is a crime and how that doesn't apply usually in child abuse cases.

  The Clergy- Laity Watchtower Lie

  i get sick and tired of hearing the watchtower lie that they.

  have no 'clergy- laity' distinction.. the hypocrisy in this is almost incredible.

  I got this spiel from my witness friend. So I asked if the elders were volunteers to which he said "yes". I asked if they were then considered equals to publishers to which I received a hesitant "yes". I asked if he participated in selecting the elders..."um, no". So I asked who does pick the elders at which point he seemed to lose interest in telling me how there weren't any real distinctions between clergy-laity. Go figure.

  my best friend, jamilynne, comes over this morning for coffee.

  i haven't seen her in awhile, guess she had been busy........she's been really busy, i find out today!.

  she tells me that she cheated on her husband, with a man she works with.

  This might make me very unpopular but...
  are you and Mike close friends? How often have you talked to mike in the past six months? Do you know Mike only through your association with Jamilynn or did you know him on your own?

  The reason I'm asking is because you've done a couple of interesting things in your post. You distanced your self from your "best friend" by saying you don't even know her anymore. You heaped praise on her husband in your post as well. It seems to me as though something else might be going on here, even if you aren't really sure what it is. Without knowing how often you talk to mike or how close to him you are it's difficult to say for sure but it looks as if you are getting more involved in the situation than you should.

  What happened between Mike and Jamilynn is between Mike and Jamilynn. They are the ones who are married. You are a third party. Maybe a valuable one, but a third party nonetheless. She's telling you details. He's not. Maybe he doesn't consider you a confidence in that manner. But if he didn't call you up himself then you should let him be. Besides, you are risking your relationship with your "best friend". But it sounds like you don't mind the thought of losing her. And maybe gaining him? (this is where I start to get unpopular- but have you considered there might be something to this?)
