Taking predictions for the 2007 memorial partakers!!
by cultswatter ini'm doing this well in advance so that all the wonderful people on jwd can look back later and see just how close they were to the actual number!
(it is possible the wts might stop publishing the partaker numbers) in a few days, i will duly record the link to this thread for future reference.. remember that there were 8524 partakers in 2005 and 8758 partakers in 2006, an increase of 234 partakers.
so how many remnant will partake in 2007??.

Thanks again everyone! I feel so loved. :)
'I have found i quite interesting to go back through and read many of my olds posts. It's amazing how you can go back and see your own progression over time. I can't believe some of the things I posted when I first started to get online and question 'the truth'. It can be quite a journey.'
Yes, it's fascinating.
'Aren't you glad you decided to "take the red pill" and see how deep the rabbit hole goes?'
Indeed. Ignorance is NOT bliss. -

Not far to go before Jedi status too!!
Yes, I will probably make another thread seeking praise and attention once I reach this milestone as well!
You could prolly make jedi today if you try real hard
I would run out of posts before I hit the 1000 mark!

Do you think it would be wrong for me to take out my pellet gun and destroy this bird? Even I dont like the idea, but I may not have a choice if I want to have butterflies and humming birds around this summer.
Nah, do it, it's only gonna come back next summer, and the summer after, and so on...
If it was a huge bear threatening your home, what would you do?
I doubt he'd use his pellet gun on it.

WHO IN THEIR RIGHT MINDS COULD OBJECT TO THIS.................JWS THATS WHO
by vitty inmy non jw aunt has died and attending the funeral will be many non witness family and friends and also jw family.
they have caused a lot of hurt these past couple of years and they have given a really "bad witness" (im really glad).
they are so pious, because they "make a stand " at every oppurtunity they can and act like spirtual polise this really pisses my non jw family off, but they put up with it.. well my aunt wanted "morning has broken" sung at the funeral and yes youve guessed it they have already said that they will not join in cos its a hymn.

Vitty, Sorry to hear about your Aunt, I'm sure if any of your non-JW family were members of evil Christendom, they would never refuse to go to the funeral of a JW relative if it was at a Kingdom Hall, and played Kingdom melodies. As if a song should really be a big deal.

Yay me! I've come a long way in a year, for proof of this, here's my first ever post on this board:
Hi all, I have just joined this site after having been visiting as a guest for a few months. I am searching for answers so please be patient with me. A friend of mine in the Congregation has directed me to this site as he has been having doubts about the Organization, though he said he never posts on it. Despite expecting to find nothing of any interest, I've been amazed at some of the things I've read and the fact that this might not actually be 'The Truth.' Whilst I'm not going to deny that there are obvious problems within the Organization, there is, however, one thing I'm having problem understanding, how could people become anointed ones without the holy spirit and Jehovah on the side of the Organization? There's an anointed one in my Congregation, he's been a special pioneer for many years and is the PO of the Congregation. He only became an anointed one a few years ago when an older anointed one in a nearby Congregation became unfaithful. Whilst I understand that you don't need to be from the same area as a former anointed one to replace the anointed one, the fact that it seemed an almost instant change made me think there was a link here, and that this was evidence of Jehovah making sure there would be that an exact 144,000 number of people in heaven. I witnessed first hand the change in this brother's outlook on life once he became 'anointed.' I'd had many conversations before this with him about the paradise, and he was always very excited about the prospect, but after this he had no interest in going to the paradise, and instantly looked forward to a time when he would rule as a king in heaven. As most of you will know, 'The Society' teaches that you are only anointed if you know you are beyond all certainty. The fact that basically all the anointed ones (except the obviously mentally unbalanced ones) have clearly dedicated many, many years to Jehovah, shows they have a real love for Jehovah. I can't believe it's a coincidence that 8000+ people who have dedicated their lives to Jehovah will today be able to believe beyond all certainty that they are anointed. To me it shows that whilst there may be issues with the Organization that need improvement, it still has Jehovah's approval, and it must therefore be the closest religion to having the Truth, even if it does get things wrong sometimes. I would be interested in hearing everyone's thoughts, and I'm willing to listen to everyone. As I said, I'm searching for answers. Thanks.
Well, I have no problem with this now, I can read my post and laugh about it. I started out with a bit of an apologist agenda, and when I came here, there were a few apologists around, (most notably scholar) but when I saw apologists arguments get ruined by you clever apostates, I decided against joining in debate, and so it didn't take me wrong to realise I was wrong. I don't believe this is the Truth now, in fact, I know it's definitely not the Truth. So I quit pioneering, I got a real job, and I've been fading since then, I'm hoping to finish my fade by the end of this year, or early next year, and aim for Uni from 2009. Possibly 2008, if I'm really good, but since I left school early, I need a few more exams before I could get accepted to Uni, which might not be achievable by next year. I can see freedom, and it is good. There's so many people here who have helped me see the light, I'm not going to name them, and I'd no doubt miss a few, so I'll just take the easy route and thank you all! You lot are great. Here's to the next year!

How much JW doctrine is in harmony with the Bible?
by OnTheWayOut insome have stated that the jw's go too far with their doctrine, but that much of the basic.
beliefs of the religion are correct.
i don't want to debate whether the bible is correct.. i just want opinions on how much of the jw doctrine agrees with the actual teachings of .

: As for the reason they won't "go there", that should almost be obvious. This is not the only scripture that can't be found in the earliest NT manuscripts. The fact is, you would be left with a Swiss Cheese bible, if the wt took the same cavalier attitude toward all of the other questionable verses, and just decided to convienently "leave them out".
I must be missing the obvious... Is it John 8, the scripture which quotes Jesus as saying 'Let he who is without sin cast the first stone' in response to a group of pharisees asking Jesus what to do with a girl who committed adultery? I know this isn't in the earliest manuscripts and the WT has a footnote in their NWT making this point. This is a text that would cause them a problem with disfellowshipping if they couldn't dismiss it as 'later added to the text'
'Misquoting Jesus' is on my list of books to read though. -

Done4good:
The earliest manuscrpits DON'T CONTAIN THIS VERSE. Or the 17 that follow it!
Are you sure?
This doesn't make sense to me, why would that be a double-edged sword to the WT? If it wasn't in the earliest manuscripts, the WT could easily have left out a very problematic scripture from their NWT.
