The Faithful and Discreet Slave is an IDOL
by cultswatter inwhen i was a dub i remember including the fds in my prayers because i did what all the other dubs were doing.
little did i know that i was worshipping and idol.
the fact is the fds does not exist other than in the mind of the brainwashed victim.

From the platform, JWs regularly say thanks to the faithful and discreet slave, or God's organisation, for something during prayer. It's rare that they're not mentioned in a prayer thanking them for providing spirtual food at the meeting. It's rare that Jesus gets a 'Thank you' for anything. If he wasn't allowed that obligatory mention at the end of prayers, he would get less mention than the FDS. This is shown when experiences are related from the platform (usually at Conventions and Assemblies) a brother or sister who got through a hard time will almost always thank 'Jehovah and his Organisation' for getting him/her through it. What about Jesus!? What does he even do in their religion?

Not necessarily stilla: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2007/01/21/wburma21.xml
It seems to me that all religions can have bad members, and can be misused by it's leaders. -

Christians could and did. Can JWs? Do they?
by ANewLeif inthere are many things the bible says christians could do and things the bible describes christians doing that, according to their doctrine, jws can't do.. christians could talk directly to jesus.
(acts 7:54-60; acts 9:3-16) can you?
christians could decide for themselves which days they chose to observe without any fear of religious retribution.

I don't know why anewlief has been attacked by a few posters on this thread. It's irrelevant what he believes about the bible, (in this thread at least) the JWs believe it's God's word, so when one of their beliefs contradicts clear statements in the bible, it's up to them to reconcile it, after all, it's JWs who claim absolute truth, as far as I can see, anewlief has not done this. JWs usually can't reconcile many bible statements with their own beliefs.
I think that was the purpose of this thread. -

Frederick Franz's Words
by jakes inaddressing a large audience in 1976,president franz asked, ' do you know why nothing happened in 1975?
it was because you expected something to happen.'.
i would have stood up walked right out if i was present.. jakes.

He has a point though, if Jesus second coming couldn't happen till nobody was expecting it, surely all these religions need to shut up about how 'the time is near' before it will happen. (I would have been offended as well though!)

IYO, what r the most problematic scripture(s) for dubs?...or lack there of
by *jeremiah* inhey everyone,...in your opinion, (1) what scripture or passages in the bible completely go against jdub doctrine?
scriptures that the dubs really can't answer or really can't fit into their equation,...thus, they go unnoticed or avoided.
(2) or,...what scriptural proof should be in the bible to back their doctrinal claims.

John 20: 27 Next he said to Thomas: “Put your finger here, and see my hands, and take your hand and stick it into my side, and stop being unbelieving but become believing.” 28 In answer Thomas said to him: “My Lord and my God!” Luke 21: 8 He said: “Look out that YOU are not misled; for many will come on the basis of my name, saying, ‘I am he,’ and, ‘The due time has approached.’ Do not go after them. Revelation 19: 1 After these things I heard what was as a loud voice of a great crowd in heaven. They said: “Praise Jah, YOU people! The salvation and the glory and the power belong to our God

Why do dubs act as if 1975 wasn't failed prophesy or misleading?
by NotaNess infrom the evidence i have found, it was all but etched in stone.
so why try and defend the wts by saying "they never stated armageddon would be in 1975", as one witness tried to throw back at me.. seems that you could show them all the evidence in the world of this false organization, and it will repel right off them.
is there some sort of "force field" kool-aid they're serving at the halls?.

If they admit 1975 was failed prophecy, they have to admit the ones who made it are false prophets.

'Nonscence......that's an idea that came up from the watchtower....No scriptural foundation...'
No it's not, it's never been in the WT.
I would guess it comes from Isaiah 9:6
'6 For there has been a child born to us, there has been a son given to us; and the princely rule will come to be upon his shoulder. And his name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.'
As that prophecy stated Jesus would be called Eternal Father, it's been suggested Jesus could be our father with his father obviously being our grandfather, however there's no reference to anyone in the NT calling Jesus father.
