Greetings V,
Yes, the JW's can't even trust their own website for several reasons. If one of the dubs is blind enough to believe the WTS's claims about the internet, then they'll probably never even use a computer, for fear that aposates might "hack" into their website. Also, as the organization is gradually destroyed from within, they will forget that the generation rule was ever invented, discarded, then reinvented again.
Maybe I can put it this way. The WTS is a sort of "honest" organization. Now a dishonest person you can always trust to be dishonest. It's the "honest" organizations you have to look out for.
I am guessing by your name that you are a fan, of sorts, of Guy Fawkes. So if I may ask you a question:
Do you dare do all that may become a man, who dares more is none?
Best Reguards,

What is the current light on the "Generation" issue???
by integ inon the watchtower official web site they still hold to the doctrine that "some of those alive in 1914 will be alive when the end comes" or something to that effect, which flies in the face of the 1995 wt article that speaks of "generation" as being something different.. i brought this up to a witness and she said "no way.
the society wouldn't say that".
well...they did, but what really is the current stance on this?

The "Fade" - Evaluating A New Phenomenon
by slimboyfat into what extent has the growth of the "fade" been facilitated by internet forums such as this?
sure there were people who chose to fade in the pre-internet era, simply by withdrawing themselves, gradually involving themselves with non-witnesses to a greater extent, or getting in touch with other ex-witnesses covertly through the convention system/telephone and mailing support network that used to be more important before the advent of the internet.
so the "fade" is not an invention of the internet era, not en entirely "new phenomenon".

The internet has had a big influence that I've seen. It may not change the elderly congregation, but for school students and JWs who have a desk job, and have daily exposure to the internet have a much greater chance of researching the watchtower.
The trick is to show them how to go online for practical use at first. JWs are taught the internet is a dangerous thing to be avoided, when in reality, it's just like any other source of information. The more you look, the more you learn. Show them how to find neutral information they can trust, that won't hurt anyone. Then when they're sure they can think for themselves (quite the oxymoron), they can start using Google, and the rest is history.

How I got my daughter out of the CULT of Jehovah's Witnesses
by hopie inmy husband and i were both raised and baptized as jehovah's witnesses.
my husband was an elder for over 15 years.
during those years when he was an elder, our eyes began to be opened to what was going on behind the scenes, that their organization was more political than biblical.

Hopie, I am amazed. Your daughter was born and raised in the org, married a pedophile, and it only took two years to get her out? My mom joined at age 54 and I've been trying to tell her the truth for FIVE years without success. Can you give me any pointers? I would greatly appreciate it.

A Fair View of Fred Franz' Translation Abilities
by IW ini thought these comments on channel c were fair views of fred franz' translation, not to mention a little surprising.

Has anyone mentioned Westcott and Hort? I thought their work influenced Franz about 60 years beforehand, even though they were denounced by their own colleagues. Can someone please clarify, I'm not quite sure.

Regrets of Being Brought up as a Witness
by chuckie77 inive never really been one to say a whole lot against the organisation, even though i was really unhappy in the years leading up to getting out of it, i still think theres so many good, peace loving and genuine people in it.
that said i was brought up as a witness and sometimes feel like ive been robbed of a true childhood.. my dad was a lot older than my mum, and was almost 50 when i was born.
he was the po in the cong and being a witness was, and still is, everything to him.

Hey Chuckie, welcome to the board and thanks for the uplifting story. It's our goal to help people like you.
We might not get our childhoods back, but we do have friends here that we never would have found otherwise.
It's reading things like this that gives me hope for the future.
Best of luck,

Ha! This is great. Good for you, Scully, your comments were right on the money. These hypocrites have got some nerve. They won't allow their own congregation to go to the police or pursue legal means to prosecute child molesters, but they jump at the chance to sue (on discrimination of all things) when they have to pay PROPERTY TAX?!
So much for the whole "Jehovah will provide" idea. Pedofiles get off scott free, but THIS is a reason to go to court? And what ever happened to that "stay out of Satan's system thing?"
They lie and point the finger so much that their right hand doesn't know what their left hand is doing.

We should add this to the unending list of destroyed families at the hands of the watchtower, including many of us. But they will be held accountable.
But as bad and as hopeless as it is now, we will be just as happy someday.
They may take our families, they may even take our lives, but they will never, ever take our dignitity.

The REAL REASON JW's refuse blood
by DannyHaszard inbut they don't realize that what the bible says about blood is not the real reason why they refuse blood transfusions.
therefore what the bible says at matthew 24:34 is not the real reason they believed it.
here too the real reason will only show up if the society ever changes what it teaches about blood transfusions.

Ok everybody, get this. I recently discussed this subject with my JW mother. I'll repeat it here, so hopefully you can make some sense of it:
ME: Mom, do you believe, or are you taught that the Bible should be taken literally, word for word?
MOM: That's the only way you can possibly understand it.
ME: Ok, so unless the Bible doesn't specifically say to do something, you just won't do it?
MOM: (pretending to think) I'm not sure what you mean.
ME: You are not allowed to have a blood transfusion, right?
MOM: Of course not. But I only know that because I have a bible trained conscience.
ME:(giggling) Of course you do. That comes from the book of Matthew, right?
MOM: Yes. (she then reads the scripture) There it is.
ME: But that doesn't say not to have a transfusion, it simply says to abstain from injesting blood. If you get a transfusion, do you equate that with drinking blood?
MOM:(voice changing to sound noble, as if she's imagining God himself) You see, The Brothers, The Faithful And Discreet Slave went back to the original Greek and Hebrew Texts to make a literal translation, not a version that you see on so many bibles today.
ME: So let me get this straight. A group of men, that you don't even know their names, who you will never meet or even talk to, read the bible for you. Then form their own interpretation for you to obey without question.
MOM:(shaking her head, filled with pity for me) I know it looks that way to you. That's what I thought at first. But only after studying in the Truth can you come to see what God really wants of us.
ME: Spoken like a true brainwashed drone. How about I get a scripture myself? (randomly flip to scripture). Ok. Here it says right before Moses came to Egypt, "Moses tied his ass to a tree and walked ten miles." What exactly does that mean?
MOM: Don't be stupid. They're talking about his donkey.
ME: How do you know that? Did someone tell you that, because if you take that literally, which you are taught is the only way to take it, it means just what it says. So there are two possibilities. Either God assumes we just know that ass means donkey, or Moses had a very elastic rope.
<<<SILENCE>>>
ME: Well, what about at the Last Supper? Jesus broke bread, blessed it, and said "this is my body and my blood, which will be shed for you and for all so that sins may be forgiven." If I take that literally, going by your own rules, Jesus's deciples drank his blood right then and there. So what is right and what is wrong?
MOM: I don't have time for this. All I know is that all my questions have been answered to my satisfaction. What about your religion? You must have un-answered questions of your own?
ME: Maybe, but I'd rather have questions that can't be answered as opposed to answers that can't be questioned.
MOM: I don't know what that means.
ME: I wouldn't expect you to mom.
So what do you all think? Did I ask the right questions? Do you think she's completely bonkers? Most importantly, did you like my donkey joke?

NEW Interview with Bill Bowen of Silentlambs on recent events
by Dogpatch inthe last interview i did with bill bowen was in april of 2003, and new things have happened regarding the pedophile issues in the watchtower's corrupt system led by ted jaracz and his corporate cronies.
some things are the same (mainly wt policies), and others have changed.
it took 10 years to develop some legal precendents to be laid down in order for lawsuits against the catholic priest pedophiles to move ahead, and some important legal precedents have now been established in court so as to pave the road for effective lawsuits against the watchtower leaders for their complicity in allowing pedophiles to remain in the congregations in good standing, some even as elders.

I agree completely with Blondie. In New York, I support the lobbiest groups working to make it a law that convicted pedofiles must register with the public registry, and failing to keep it up to date would become a felony, now it's only a misdeamenor.
I write to and visit my senators and assemblymen regularly about school funding as part of my school tutoring program, but I also mention people who offer illegal asylum to pedofiles, like the Watchtower, and that always causes quite a stir. Thanks for the video Randy!

Another Deceitful Tactic by the WTBTS.
by gumby inas most informed jehovah's witnesses know, the wtbts is very good at painting a pretty picture of themselves by cleverly wording things to outsiders, yet not revealing the specifics of their beliefs.. below is an example from their official website regarding whether or not they shun members who choose to leave them.
they do not tell the public of the interogation they impose on members who wish to quietly leave ( fade ).. notice they mention how they are more than happy to restore those who exit, but fail to mention the types of questions they ask to those who leave them.. while they admit they shun those who verbally express they no longer wish to be a jehovahs witness, they do not tell the public they coerce that very statement from those who try to leave peacefully and quietly.

Gumby, I think you got me there. I've just had such a bad lifetime of experiences with religion and my mom being a witness, I've grown distrustful of all organizations. I trust only myself, because that is all I have left. I was trying to relate your article to myself, and how I have given up on trying to reason with my mother, and saw evidently you are a strong advocate for debate, whereas I turned my back and said "to hell with them, let them be brainwashed."
So that's what turned me off, and I'm sorry. I guess I was trying to find a hole in your discussion, a flaw in your logic. I'm still not sure if I have the stomach to attempt your approach. I want very much to learn and research the watchtower's history and its psychological manipulations. But everytime I do, I get sick to my stomach and have to turn my computer off because I can see what a disgusting lie she is living, especially when the truth is a mere inches away from her face.
She disappears for 10 to 12 hours at a time in "service," and comes back with her strange friends humming "Loyally Submitting To The Theocratic Order." She frightens me too death with her random apacolypitic outbursts. "I lost my car keys! Satan's fighting against me! If I could just do 10 more hours of service a month, then maybe I will be good enough." She went from being an independent, smart, logical and loving woman my whole life to an unrecgonizable paranoid drone within 9 months. So yes, I guess you could say I have given up.
Is it hard to say this? Absolutely. Do I regret misjudging you? Of course. But I find it ironic how two strangers so far apart could have so much in common. It goes against everything I was ever taught. I really was beginning to think I was alone.
