  Going by those definitions, I'd say maybe...

  Science tells you otherwise.

  It's not censorship when they give you the option to opt out and surf porn to your heart's content.

  As I already pointed out, it IS censorship, because PUBLIC hot-spots will still have the censorship. You won't be able to go down to your local library and get uncensored internet access.

  Also, the internet is not within the governments jurisdiction. If they are allowed to put mandatory censorship on your internet, then in the future they will also be allowed to take away your right to opt-out.

  The internet is just communication. This is like the governemt installing a language blocker on your cell phone, so when you're talking to uncle Dirty Mouth it bleeps out his "F--k, s--t and c--t"... What gives the government the right to do that?

  Speaking as a geek, with the hacker ethic, this bothers me...

  (Not because they are censoring porn, it would be the same in my eyes of they were censoring stuff that was actually harmful.)

  The internet does not belong to the government.

  The internet is so powerful because it is not controlled.

  But it is ONLY information, NOTHING is coming through the internet except information in various forms. Text, data, image, video, sound, programs, games. It's all just 1's and 0's.

  The government has no business regulating, taxing, controlling, censoring, or managing it. They should not require a permit, they should not require identification, they should not require anything.

  The service should be available by request, not MANDATORY to be disabled by request. (Which I assume you will have to sign something, or provide ID.)

  Now what if you go to a wireless access point? Will it be censored or not? I'm willing to bet money that from now, people will be able to SUE the coffee shop because their offspring saw boobies while on the uncensored internet. Thus making public WIFI hotspots decide to keep the censorship, thus preventing the average customer from being able to use the internet properly.

  "In Australia, which is supposedly a Liberal democracy, the government is saying that the internet is so full of this material that it must protect us from it by trying to block it."

  I can't stress enough how BAD this is.

  Well it good you talk for the group, but I think I can safely say some don't see it as a nonreality.

  I had a witty retort, but I'll let someone else 'talk for the group'. And I'll get back to the actual topic.

  Why is it that Satan is reffered to as a 'liar' when he said that Job would betray god? He wouldn't be a 'liar' he would just be 'incorrect'. By calling him a liar, it's as if Satan already KNEW that Job would remain faithful, but brought up the challenge anyway. According to the WT:

  Isn't that kind of harsh? It's not lying if he thought it was true.

  first a bit of background (in case you are not familiar with my family history)... my mom is 68, my dad is 63. they run their own small business which involves my dad travelling all over the country and my mom running the office.

  my dad is an insulin dependant diabetic and my mom suffers from chronic high blood pressure.

  my only sibling is a sister who is 27 and lives in bethal.she is a housekeeper and her husband repairs the shoes there.. today i call my mom to say hi... the conversation goes something like this..... me: so when are you going back to work mom?.

  No, we all got distracted spell-checking the word tetchy, which I didn't know included a second t.

  Only to find out that it can, in fact, be correctly spelled either "tetchy" or "techy".

  Anyways, I agree, it's horrible. My parents have the same problem. They have absolutely NO plan for retirement. My siblings will probably be pioneering and won't be able to take care of them either.

  So it'll fall to ME to take care of my parents...

  it is wearing me down.. my constant companion in life, my skull-breaking- mind-blowing- daily migraines finally got the better off me six months ago.

  i broke down, i cried and cried and cried.

  not only cuz of the pain, but more for the fact that painkillers were not helping me anymore.
