i recieved an e-mail from a "thurdson", titled review of crisis of concience.
it came into my hotmail box, showed to be 127k, and seemed to not have anything in the body.. also, something from a "jcmachisslop" titled w32.elkern virus remover, with a link to mcaffee supposedly pointing me to a tool to get rid of said virus.. i did not get an immediate virus notification, but i am curious, perhaps someone trying to "ping' me?.

Something strange is happening.
Nothing strange at all. We are being monitored...that is a given. I have noticed in the past that when I post more than usual I get all sorts of attacks, especially after the Dateline show. Right now, this is just after the BBC airing. These people have no scruples...it is considered "theocratic warfare" to do things that are illegal.
Shame on them!
i just finished watching the panorama report on jw pedophiles, and like many of you, i am thoroughly disgusted at the watchtower's lying, maneuvering and hypocrisy on this issue.
they are truly a wicked organization, deserving of the worst judgment of both god and man.. one statement they made that just leapt out at me was when the bbc reporter asked the person on the phone at brooklyn bethel how many names were in the society's database of pedophiles within the organization.
the response from the watchtower spokesman was that "focusing on numbers isn't meaningful.".

reporting requirements vary from state to state. It can be quite a challenge to keep abreast of the reporting requirements
Not sure this quoting thing will work or not as it used to. But, it would seem to me that ANY religious organisation who wants to do the will of God would not EVEN consider how each state considers legal as far as reporting. It would seem to ME that there should be a zero tolerance policy where each and every case would be reported to the authorities. Yes, there would be false accusations...but for me, as a once abused child, for an accusation to be investigated by the authorities is much better than the current policy of going by each states policy.
Our children are at risk! Do not poo poo their recollections of what happened to them. Granted, there are false allegations,...but aren't our children worth the effort to have each and every allegation investigated by people who are trained to do so? Why has it gone on so long to leave this "investigation" work to untrained individuals?

YOU CAN WATCH YOUR CHILD ALL YOU WANT...IT DOES NOT ALWAYS PROTECT THEM. I WAS WITH MY GIRLS ALMOST 24/7. THAT DID NOT CHANGE THAT MY MIDDLE CHILD WAS ABUSED.
I don't know how to apprach this, what to preface this with....all I know is that no matter how much you try to protect your children...abuse happens.
At one time...I thought it was just one of my 3 girls...years later I find out it may have been at least 2 out of the 3.
What I have learned is..........you can do everything within your power to protect your children but sometimes the demn in your midst can be your own spouse/significant other............the father of your child.
would you be an active witness or even an inactive one if you could change a few things?

Given time, I could come up with more quotes as to "predictions" gone wrong in this organisation. Many times they state the very same thing that they have done that proves an organisation as not being from God.
i wake up this morning, check my email, and jang has once again filled it with dozens of anti-cult posts from her yahoo group which i was never solicited to join, and never asked to join.. ok, maybe it wasn't dozens but there were several.. jang, i posted to the newsgroup and i am asking you here now to please stop sending me emails/posts and take me off any lists you currently host or will ever conceive of in the future.
i have asked you this for at least 3 years now and i am still receiving stuff from you.

OK, I see a couple of problems with the "suggestions" here.
1) Some email programs, especially web based emails, do not allow for you to go over a certain amount of "deleted" "go to the trash" lists. I know that Yahoo (from experience) only allows for 100 on a list. I need more considering I do a lot of spending online. And when you spend...they sell your address to every Tom, Dick and Harry who pays for a list.
2) When you go into your email and there are, say 37 emails...it gets tiring to have to click and delete 36 out of the 37 because you have gone over on your "delete" list.
I thought that legally, if a person requests to be off a list, they have to do it. Even if it weren't legal...what about the ethical side to this? How can a person, right or wrong in their "mission", feel it is right to ignore someone's request for 3 years?

I may have a different take on this elders email to you Bill, but it sounds like it is in all sincerity. It may not be...but. I think that a lot of us, me included, take the words of a witness much like they would take anything from us...the "apostates". I would think that to send them to:

and have them type in the link to Dateline, they can see for themselves whenever the site was changed and how. I don't have the site's address otherwise I could give a detailed response as to what they would find. I would suggest that this person looks this up, puts in the Dateline address, and then look up all dates listed since the 28th of May. Anything with an asterick (sp) means that there were changes made on that day. But if a person is really interested they would look up every date listed on the search to get an accurate "display" of what was actually on the pages at any given time.

Being a JW for almost 30 years and realising I was duped, makes me very leary of statements without some sort of back up.
I am sorry if this upsets you, but right now, I need to back up thoughts with factual "black and white" pictures.
things must be getting pretty desperate.
i just heard some wonderful news of another boy being appointed a ministerial servant.
the comment was that even though he is young, he is very mature.another person, speaking of a different boy being appointed said that he had the added advantage of being home schooled and that really helped him to mature.
I know of one man who was appointed an elder (I believe. But it could have been ms status) 6 months after he was baptised! To top that off the man hadn't even been out in service yet!!! He was one of the most arrogant men I have ever encountered with a position. He told one woman, during her judicial committee for adultery, that if his wife had done the same thing she would be out on her ear. A few years after that he was reproved and deleted as an elder because he was the one who had committed adultery. His wife never kicked him out. Then just over 2 years later he was reappointed as a elder, totally skipping over being an ms again. Unbelievable, when my father is fighting to become an elder, after being in for over 30 years because he doesn't conduct a bible study with my mother. One would think at 60 years old she has the study system down pat by now. haha
