Does anyone remember which Awake had the article about the children who had died "faithfully" refusing blood transfusions? Also - any information on statistics I can get regarding the number of children who have died?

facts about the JW religion
by Dawn ini'm putting together a brochure for release in my area - to local churches and bookstores.
on the first panel i want to explain to the reader why the jw religion is not a "harmless" little church.
so i decided to list in bullet format a few facts that the average person may not be aware of.. for example, bullet 1 will be information on the number of children who have died because of refusing blood (any ideas where i can find exact numbers??).

Great ideas. Thanks for your feedback.
I plan to limit this brochure to just JW's - since that is what I am most familiar with. My intent/hope is that someone will read it and then be prepared to ask those tough questions when the JW comes to their door. If only someone had asked ME those tough questions - I may have seen the truth about it all and been free much earlier than I was.
I'll post a copy of it when I'm done so you all can use it also if desired.

I also thought of including information on the scream/don't scream scenario, and of course, disfellowshipping and the pedophilia problem
Other ideas??

Are We Powerless To Beat The Watchtower At Its Own Game?
by minimus inthe watchtower tries to slander and abuse anyone not on their side.
anyone that disagrees with them, "runs ahead of jehovah".
we are called "apostates" because we dare prove why the society is wrong.

Funny you should ask this question - I'm in the process of creating a brochure to give out to the local churches and christian bookstores. It's designed to help people "witness" to a witness who comes to their door. How to fight the WT? In their own neighborhood - where else?
Actually - I don't see the use in fighting the WT - as many mentioned here - they will crumble on their own. I just want to reach out and help those who are ready to leave and need an extra hand, support, information, whatever. I also want to get the information out to others who might actually be interested in the JW religion before it's too late.
I figured a quick read (brochure) that is given out free might do the trick.

New World Translation, eh?
by Bofug inanother on eof my fovourite articles .
the new world translation (nwt) was created between 1950-61 in several parts, beginning with new testament (nt).
the translation was made by an "anonymous" committee, which transliterated and altered texts that were problematic for earlier jws.

Here's an interesting site with info on "scholars" used to support the NWT:
http://www.forananswer.org/Top_JW/Scholars%20and%20NWT.htm
I find it a difficult pill to swallow that the translators of the NWT are kept secret. This precludes an honest individual from researching their education and knowledge of these languages. But quite predictable in the JW mindset. Here's our version of the book, it's correct, trust us, and no we won't let you double check that - you just have to take our word for it.

The woman is a NUT
by Mysterious inmy mother is fanatical nut.
it's bad enough i suffer through the weekly bible reading (revelation 1-6), this week she decides we clearly are not learning enough.
she comes armed with (old light) the revelation book and copious prinouts.

Mysterious......
Here's a thought. Since you're reading revelation - why don't you point out to your mom that it says the Great Crowd is standing before the throne of God in heaven - then ask her how the Great Crowd can be in heaven?
Oh - and while you're at it. Ask her if she can show you "using only the bible" that the 144,000 of Revelation are one and the same as the faithful and discrete slave of Matthew.
That ought to stump her for at least a few weeks.....
