I remeber shaking, physicaaly shaking. I also felt sick to my stomach. I would read a post then quickly close my browser because I wasn't supposed to be reading it. Within 2 minutes I was reading more posts. My head was swimming. Thankfully I kept reading and researching because now I'm out and it's because, in part, of this forum.

Notes from recent CO meeting with elders/ms
by Doubting Bro infor some reason, i can't cut & past from word.

the forum doesn't like word. Open up Notepad or Wordpad, paste your text from Word into either of those. Then re-copy and past the text in the forum. That usually works for me.

Beyond their control
by NanaR ini have been thinking a lot lately about the relationship between jesus and those who are "born again" by the spirit.
it occurred to me that this is the only relationship in the jw religion where the "organization" or the fds does not intervene (see recent threads regarding jesus as mediator only of those in the new covenant according to jw doctrine).. since the number of those partaking of the emblems at the memorial has remained basically unchanged over the last 20 years (increased some years, decreased others, but no steady movement in either direction), i was wondering what the future might hold with regard to jw doctrine regarding the heavenly class.. i read another thread that indicated some congregations have taken steps to decide who is "truly" anointed.. if the sealing stopped in 1935 except for replacements for unfaithful ones, why does the number "wobble" instead of decreasing?
people born in 1920 (15 in 1935) are now 86 years old if still living; and we know that not all of the anointed were young folks in 1935. so, faithful or unfaithful, they are passing away.

How can the borg come between Jesus and his "Bride"?
Maybe they're like a condom, keeping Jesus from knocking up his old lady.
I think I'm going to start refering to them as "the Trojan Class"

How many songs are stored on your computer or IPod?
by gaiagirl inthere is a very good used book/music/dvd store near my home, and i visit them regularly.
i don't own an ipod, but on this computer i have currently 4172 songs stored on the hard drive, 341 hours worth of music.
however, i'm sure that many folks have even more.

I've got 19.2 gigs, 4,857 songs on my hard drive at work including the entire Radiohead catalog. I need to get an IPod so I can listen to this stuff anytime I want.

What song best epitomizes what keeps you going
by Lady Lee ini know a lot of song threads have been posted but i am interested in what and why a particular song moves you to keep going when you have lost so much.. if possible find the lyrics to the song and post them along with your what song and why it was so important.
as a kid i had an old 78 record player that i had to wind up to play (i did say old.
) there was one old record that had a song by ed ames 'the impossible dream" i was in foster care and had no contact with my family.

have you ever gotten a chance to see them live?
What about you Daystar, goodand badgirl?I saw them once at the Salem Armory during their OK Computer tour in the U.S. Funny thing was I wasn't as big a fan then. That all changed that night though. They were amazing! Now they're my favorite band of all time and "Let Down" is my fav. on OKC. I've always wanted to see them again but they don't come around my neck of the woods too often.

Is this your first post JW Christmas? Tell us about it!
by LovesDubs ini was still in the borg when my children came...the oldest was going on 9 and the other two 6-1/2 and 2 when i decided it was time for mom to jump ship and run so my children,,,and me could live normal lives.
my neighbors whom i had dutifully avoided as bad association for all those years, heard that i had left the jws and that my children were having their first christmas ever in december of 1997. they got together and brought to us a little well worn and loved artificial tree, boxes of extra ornaments from their own collections, some ceramic village pieces with lights inside (which has grown to a really big village now with people...something my kids delight in setting up each year), and presents for the kids.
i tell you what...i have rarely been as moved as i was at that moment...the love these people showed for us even though i had never allowed myself to be close to them, being told they were evil, was heartwarming and pure.

This will be my first and my kid's first Christmas. Since I'm living with my brother (who has celebrated christmas since he was 18) I don't have much to do as way of decorations or the tree. I'm looking forward to getting my kids presents and seeing the look on their faces as they open them up. In all honesty, having been raised a JW, I don't have much connection with holidays. I don't get real festive as others do but I do enjoy the excitement others have and the general good will people seem to express during the season, something I was taught was bad as a JW.
