How about this 1970's classic:
Would not a failure to respond to direction from God through his organization really indicate a rejection of divine rulership?WT, 2/15/76
Farkel, your posts kill me.
q is the organization a direct channel between god and humanity?
a again, our governing body has never claimed that our organization is inspired or infallible.
instead they, our governing body, study the bible diligently and through prayer they make a request for his holy spirit to direct them and be upon them.

hello watchtower monitors and people of the board....here's the game.. somewhere, in the united states, there is going to be an apostate showing up at one of your district assemblies, he will be sporting a rainbow wig and a john 3:16 sign.
inside the convention.. now now, before apologists and dissents come my way.....i got a protest permit to be on said premis, and also, once i wear the wig and show the sign....as soon as they tell me to leave, i will comply...therefore i cant go to jail(saaay all you want, i already have an "ace up the sleeve" on this, so guess what?
you're wrong if you even think otherwise hehheheheheh).
Instead of John 3:16, why not Matthew 24:45? That is the most important scripture in JW-land. Maybe the sarcasm wouldn't be lost on all...
that's about what my hubby's heart attack bill came to as well, about $50,000.
I visited for 3 hours last weekend with my cousin who is preparing to enter the Catholic Brotherhood. He does all kinds of volunteer work, and is one of the best people I know. I admire him tons, he is as humble and as honest as a person could be. He has me hankerin' to go back to the Roman church (the last thing I thought I'd ever do). He will be the first person to admit that the Church hierarchy has serious problems with group ego and authoritarianism. I told him that it was great that he can say that about his church and still be active to the degree he is. We all know how quickly they show you the door at the KH as soon as you question anything or "manifest a complaining spirit".
don't forget about the brci conference (you know the same group that does the 800-why-1914 help-line) it's in chicago, june 28 and 29.. call the help-line for more details.
i'm going.
cb
I'm thinking of going, maybe just staying over Friday night and staying for Saturday's program. I really want to meet and thank Marilyn Zweifel, she was a HUGE help to me when I was going through the horrible WT disillusionment. I live in Columbus Ohio, though, which is at least 7-8 hours from Chicago by car, and airfare is a little beyond my means right now :(
has anyone else seen the july 8th awake!?.
it's cover features a picture of a police man and a young boy and asks the question "police, why do we need them"?.
does anyone else see the irony of this in light of the dateline publicity?
Somebody:
Insightful post. I never thought about how JW's receiving blood-fraction transfusions were relying entirely on blood (which was stored on a shelf, not "poured out") donated by wicked wordlies who are in line for destruction at the big A
I haven't seen the 7/8 Awake, but it sounds like the typical cheese whiz the org is putting out lately. It is especially puzzling that this would be a topic of a WT publication, when you consider that it would be impossible for a policeman to be a JW. Correct me if I'm wrong on that one.
question: if women don't work in the archive of the wt how did she find out about these eltter?
and how many cases were discovered?.
i would like to know what to answer if a witness asks that questions.
She sure seemed like an intelligent, together lady.
No wonder the borg had to get rid of her.
wt labels views of persons who disagree with them as most unreliable.. follow the link to the official wt statement against all critics:.

This is just pure pukeshit. Is that strong enough?
How many times does the WT give an experience in a magazine or yearbook of persons who leave their bad and corrupt church to become a JW? Couldn't this line of reasoning by this genius Starks be applied to these situations?
the conventions in britain are starting very soon...in just a few weeks expensive cars will sweep on to muddied fields,.
picnickers will proudly display the latest tupperware items.
nylon suited men and modest women will promenade around the functional plastic seating.
funny post -
I have a few questions for lurkers or loyalists who visit here:
Have you made your hotel reservations?
Have you packed your lunches?
Have you asked for time off from work so that you can attend all 3 days of the convention?
If not, don't worry, we will be asking you all these questions again during a service meeting part 2 weeks from now.
Also, please remember to wear your badge when traveling to and from the convention site. Please tip appropriately. Please dress modestly. Please keep an eye on your children. Please don't horde hotel breakfast items. Please dress modestly. Please don't allow your teenagers to loiter in the hotel lobby until late in the evening. Please dress modestly. Please tip appropriately. Please make sure you are on time for the sessions to share in song and prayer. Please do not loiter in the corridors during the convention session. Please dress modestly. Please don't reserve more seats than the number of persons you are traveling with. Please don't use flash cameras. Please do not let out a "whoop" after being baptized if you are being baptized. Please be on time. Please keep an eye on your children. Please dress modestly. Please bring a notebook and take notes. Please be prepared to be spiritually refreshed and rejuvenated. Please dress modestly.
...do you want an end to the entire organization of jehovah's witnesses?.
i'm guessing there is so much money involved, we couldn't hope to see an end to them, but that's what needs to happen imho.
after all, jim and tammy faye bakker had lots of money associated with their church, and a theme park complete with hotels to boot and they're all gone.
An end to the org sounds good. But, as long as the demand is out there (people who are susceptible to cults and abusive relationships in general) there will be exploiters ready to take advantage of them.
The things that keep the cultish, sectarian spirit alive in the org are the hostility towards the world and the spirit of elitism. These things are all but lost on the younger generations of JW's, IMHO. So many of the teenagers out there peddling WT literature have worldly friends and probably barely understand even the basics of JW-doctrine. Therefore, I think that a continual eroding of this sectarian spirit will continue.
When I first became a dub in '93, a lot of what was in the magazines and other pubs was vitriol towards Christendom. Seems like that has dropped off a lot. Now all their vitriol is directed towards apostates. A cult has to have enemies. I hope that at least some thinking dubs have enough of their own mind left to see that there are more than a few legitimate reasons for rejecting the WT's claim to represent God.
i was thinking today about all the time i spent on the ministry.. walking down the street with my suit and briefcase ready to defend the truth.. i recalled some of the conversations i had , had.some of the bible studies i conducted, the talks i had given the groups i had taken.. i remmebered the way i defended my faith and belief in jehovah and the jehovahs witness organisation.. how much i must have believed it was the truth.. i spent 3 years as an auxillary pioneer and called on many thousands of people.. yet all along i was wrong.. every time i defened my beliefs i was wrong.. every talk i studied and prepeared long and hard for, i was wrong.. all the things i gave up for the truth i was wrong.. what an idiot.
Valis,
Yep, I took that ride. I never was a 'true believer' though, I was on the inactive list most of my time in the borg. The magazines embarrassed me, I couldn't bring myself to try and peddle them door-to-door.
It really isn't doctrinal stuff that wakes you up to the evil of the WT, it's the psychological/totalitarian issues. That's why a hard-headed true believing dub isn't going to find many people in the ministry who can shake their faith. Everything is excusable when you're under the propaganda influence of the WT. There are certain active ones who I dread coming across, because I know that nothing I could possibly say could shake them.
What doesn't kill you makes you stronger, I guess that's the way I'm trying to look at it.
