Sammielee,what a horrible story.All too common,in the JW cult Im afraid.When I thought my mom was dying last winter,my mothers other daughter informed me that she was planning a "Little service" for mum,and I was not to come.Im thinking that the kingdom halls are tax free due to MY taxes paying for it,so I have every right to be there.BUt it all worked out well.My mom lives with me,has stopped going to meetng altogether and is getting better every day.Ill never forget the cruelty I was shown when my dad died.Small kitchen,My mum and I are at the table.The "brothers came in and surrounded her,herded her into the other room,I am weeping copiously and no on even LOOKED at me..I had just lost my DAD,and they all knew how tght he and I were.No one even LOOKED at me..They do not exist anymore,and I will pass up no opportunity to educate people about the hateful cult and sahre my story.HOrrible,hateful people.If there is a god,{which I doubt}I cannot imagine him or her approving of this sort of attitude.They are rotton to the core,and are getting worse as their "timeline to the end" becomes more and more and obvious facade.

To Attend or Not Attend JW Relative Funeral - Experiences You've Had ?
by flipper ini was moved to put this thread out after talking to a board member here who was treated very disrespectfully from her jw family after her own husband died.
my question isn't trying to pigeonhole anybody or i'm not saying there's a right or wrong answer - the question is designed to just openly discuss the negatives and positives of going to a jw funeral or not, and the implications or ramifications for doing so or not.. i believe it's definitely a personal decision based on different circumstances for each individual.
for example : let's say a person is an inactive jw and they were sexually abused or treated in other inhumane ways by still active jw relatives .

Was everyone surprised by how nice worldly people can be?
by Inisc ini, like most born ins grew up being taught that everyone who was not a jw was inherently wicked, that they were dishonest, unloving, selfish, bad parents who don't care about their children, and also sad empty people with no direction in life.. as i grew older i started to see that this wasn't always true with every one, that what i was taught wasn't equating with what i was seeing.. by high school i could see that my friends at school, (yes worldly friends eek!
) we're actually decent people with morals, they may have engaged in a little fornication here and there but not promiscuously, and they were good honest people, with goals and parents that cared for them.. but after high school i was phsycologicaly bullied into ceasing contact with my friends altogether, leaving me with little contact with outside world, and the cult mentality had more room to grow, not fully, but enough to unconsciously not fully trust 'worldly' people.. however, once i'd left the org and began to meet people again, i was amazed at actually how good, honest, loving, kind, and caring many people can be!
who love their spouses and children and try their very best to be good parents and partners.

I know exactly what you mean! My mum,lives with me now,and she is astounded at how sweet and kind my "worldly" friends are.Sadly tho,its kind of making her rethink her whole life,but better late than never,I guess.My dad went to his grave believing he had "brothers' everywhere,and that he could go "in the middle of the night" to any of them and they would help him if needed.He didnt realize that that is the way many many people are,more nonwitness than witness,in my opinion.He got ripped off so many times by "brothers",he just refused to see.Sad..But,oh well,we all get one life,and get to live it the way WE choose,right?

"Feeling sorry for yourself" about being hit by your husband is not Christian 2/15/12 WT Page 25 P 12
by yourmomma inhave anyone of you read, the absolutly jaw dropping paragraph in this article about a women who was hit by her husband?
its in page 25 of the 2/15/12 wt study edition (i read the dumbed down version).. .
if there was any question, that the watchtowers stance is for wives to simply take it when their husbands abuse them, this makes it crystal clear.. who the hell is scanning these things before they go to print?

I went to the memorial w/my mum last week.I brought candy and a notepad,so I was able to keep myself amused without listening too much.However,duri g the last prayer,I did hear,"Thank you Jehovah for letting us all be here,being the smartest people on earth"..I choked on my Rollo candy,and started to chuckle.Couldnt help it,I swear! I guess when you hear it week after week,the stupidity of the statements are softened,but its been a year since I brought my Mum to the memorial..Yowzah...These folks are delusional fo'sho'!

Its like deveined shrimp.I AWAYS ask if they are deveined,because I dont like the gritty line of,{well you know}running down the under and overside.Some parts of the country automaticly do it,and some dont.Its always good to ask,About tea too...Oh,and anything w.mayo?Make sure it isnt salad dressing.Lots of places use salad dressiing{gakkk} instead of mayo...Alway always ask...;}
