I think they're fine if the two people involved are on the same page...therein lies the crux.
I could never do it. I did one time pick an acquaintance for casual sex when I got desperate but I couldn't enjoy it without some sort of connection.
So, one night stands, not for me. But that's just me.

Tonight, happy hour with friends from work.
Saturday, the Ren Faire (we're geeks, yaaay!) then Crawfish and beer at Nate's (it's a Texas thang and his favorite eating place)
Sunday, when his son comes back from his mom's---cake and presents!!

I'm just starting to REALLY feel lonely for my girlfriends back home and my sister and sometimes feel desperate like it's not such a great adventure as I originally thought.
I hear ya, sweety! Know this: It is still the great adventure, it is still your path even if it darkens a tad here and there (that's part of the journey)--you set your hand to the plough, try not to look back! Forge ahead.
I do understand what you are going through, though. I tell myself the above words on an almost daily basis. It was easier for me because I was coming back home (to Texas) but I left behind A LOT back in Denver......alot. This is the nature of sacrifice. polarity and opposites. Ultimately you follow your path to the Self, which is the ultimate "Home".
Be where you are is what I tell myself. Home is where the heart is and your heart is with your sweety.

aaah yes, the absolute orgasmic joy and titillation (all tempered with faux sympathy) they receive from tragedy (gods, the WTC downing must have sent them orgiastic in the Halls!!!)
I would say....nothing. It supports their schema, which they desperately need to cling to and find support in any way possible. I am going through some sort of something where I just don't care. It's not necessarily contempt, but it's like watching a drug addict who is not ready to make the break or a woman who is beat who will not admit there's a problem. If they want it, it's wasting my precious energy to try to "convince" them otherwise....now, reach out your hand to me with even the slightest effort, and I will scoop you up as a mother does a child. But I have no desire at this time to....to, well, "throw my pearls before swine"
