an exchange of ideas can be had without everyone getting offended or defensive. Sort of like here, but different.
ROTFL!
is there any such thing as a church or group that gathers together to study the bible and share information without ramming it down everyone's throad and trying to disfellowship anyone who doesn't agree?.
i'd love to eventually attend a bible study group where an exchange of ideas can be had without everyone getting offended or defensive.
sort of like here, but different.

the slave is not greater than the master.. jah the almighty was the first sacrifice as the master, where jesus christ was the second as holy or perfect sacrifices.
jah the almighty had to sacrifice loved ones in order to raise a perfect family in discipline and righteousness.
without rebellion there would be no need for discipline, there was rebellion, therefore need for discipline.. .
All creations will live by "Perfect Law" of the Almighty God under full reign of Jesus Christ in the "Kingdom of God" therefore requiring that "Free Will" be REMOVED immediately upon the arrival of Jesus Christ.......
Question - will we have to wear our underwear on our head?
national public radio this morning had a story about a study of middle-aged (55-64 yo) whites in the uk compred to the us.
they were shocked at the results.
the study was done to try to find out the effects of poverty on health , which is why they just studied whites, to eliminate the effects of race.
This is another wake-up call for Americans to change bad health habits. Though this article did not fully explain WHY the differences, some possibilities have been explored here.
My first thought was, "The English?????"
My second thought was that the English have a wonderful sense of humor - not just jokes - but a humorous outlook on life. I think that has a lot to do with health.
And often, we Americans take ourselves WAYYYYY too seriously (witness some of the responses on this board, especially about believers and non-believers - its like a grudge match!)

There is also a father and son acting wickedly upon the earth as part of the wild beast.......
I knew it! Bush Senior and Junior!

More will be written in order to understand the meaning if necessary.
Uh.......... that's okay, thanks anyway. I think we've got the picture.
as a jw i was taught that no matter what we were doing "in the world" our actions should always be above reproach.
we were always to be giving a "fine witness" many jws, myself included, believed that when people saw our fine behavior and recognized our clean morals they would attribute it to our religion.
and some would be so impressed they would want to learn more.. now that i am out i have had a fascinating time finding out what people really think about jws.

o timothy, guard what is laid up in trust with you, turning away from the empty speeches that violate what is holy and from the contradictions of the falsely called knowledge.
21 for making a show of such [knowledge] some have deviated from the faith.
2 timothy 3:1-13 .
Wha........? Oh, sorry, I couldn't see.....let me turn this TV down..........I couldn't hear...........trying to sleep.......
apparently, a large percentage of xjw's who post on this site have embraced some other form of god/jesus belief to replace the wt doctrine.
most of them fall into the "i accept the lord jesus christ as my personal savior" class.
they are still extremely attached to the old "forgiveness of sin through the shed blood of jc" line.
But as many things as have been recorded that have been either done because of religious beliefs or avoided because of religious beliefs, I am surprised that none of the ones I've seen relate to a concept of "let God take care" of it in any way.
As "let God take care of it" is a very fluid concept - indeed, simply being a hypothetical, unvoiced, undocumented, thought - I'm still good with it.
Going to work out my body now - my brain is tired!
the last 8000 of the 144000 are dead?
who will be their leaders?
the nethinim class?
I forgot in my previous post:
Thank you.

Sorry, Auld - sometimes I forget to reference -
There is no evidence of which I am aware of any scientist curtailing research because they believe "God will take care of it." Nor am I aware of any instance where a scientist was unable to take the path (or was even tempted to take the path) that "God will take care of it" and was therefore led to any great discovery...or mediocre discovery.
The fact or knowledge of a scientific discovery or pursuit that does not happen obviously cannot be substantiated. But, IMO, there have been paths of scientific inquiry in the past 1,000 years not pursued because of religious beliefs - either on the part of the inidividual scientist or imposed by a religious taboo.
Sometimes these discussions just have to be taken with a grain of salt - no matter how much evidence or lack thereof, we will not reach agreement. I'm good with that.
