OK believers, time to put up or shut up...
by Gregor inapparently, a large percentage of xjw's who post on this site have embraced some other form of god/jesus belief to replace the wt doctrine.
most of them fall into the "i accept the lord jesus christ as my personal savior" class.
they are still extremely attached to the old "forgiveness of sin through the shed blood of jc" line.

Changing the rules for the anointed will be assigned to the janitor at WTS headquarters to devise on his lunch break.

Just believe, just have faith, and god will take care of the rest. I'm so glad there are scientists and researchers out there, that were unable to take this path.
Taking Beks comment in context, it does not at all exclude scientists who are also 'believers,' only scientists who might curtail scientific inquiry because of believing that 'god will take care' of it ("it" being, presumably, a cure for cancer, polio, environment, birth defects, etc.)

The CO is coming and BOY is he loving!
by MinisterAmos ini guess next week will mark the co visit at my congo.
should be loads of fun for all since last time he publicly humiliated and literally tongue lashed the yoots for dressing worldly and the moms for letting their children cry.. the 20 something guys had the audacity to wear flashy ties and dark shirts, the baby room was being used by a korean book study and it was raining outside.
wtf were the moms supposed to do with their kids when there was literally no place to put them.. something that i found very interesting was that i was exempt from the flashy tie and dark shirt thing even though i made it a point to stand in front of him and take off my coat while discussing the down pour after the meeting.

I don't think any in the WT enjoy being abused but rather in their quest to serve God, they have totally lost all their senses and opened themselves up for abuse
I think it is classic co-dependency/domestic violence syndrome: Your oppressor has convinced you that you deserve to be abused. This is why women are attracted to and stay with men who beat them - they are convinced that they don't deserve any better treatment.
The WTS attracts (in general) people who:
- are not good at abstract thinking - they like yes/no black/white answers
- need for every question to have some answer (no matter how convoluted)
- want a pecking order so they know where they stand at all times
- rules - so they know when to feel good and when to feel bad
All this sets the scene for those in power positions (if they are so inclined) to rake the R & F over the coals and for the R & F to take it.
in their quest to serve God, they have totally lost all their senses
Lily - I don't see how this reasoning follows.......................?

Elder's son no longer piano tuner - Dr instead!
by WingCommander ini am just sickened at the irony that befalls some people...... we all know the wtbs looks down heavily upon those wanting a "worldy" education, right?
at least, that's how everyone acted at my congregation!
i remember the talks from the platforms seathing about some young one running off to college to join satan's world and then his life ending in ruin and then he'll end up with no hope for the paradise...blah, blah, blah, blah.

WC:
I agree with Juni - it may not be too late for further education. That is a boat I also missed - because by the time I left JW's I had the responsibility of earning a living, then children, etc. I did go to college piecemeal, but its hard to do that way.
This is one reason, for me, that it is hard to let go of the resentment toward the WTS - they stole so many hours and opportunities from me.

Ok..How Can I Put This.....
by Legolas inok... i remember ( or at least what i recall..lol) how god had always dealt with people in the bible...kinda like there was 'proof' of him for all those thousands of years...right?
....well how come nothing in the last nearly two thousand years?
if there was a god how come he let the bible get distorted and let all these religions start?

If you take the Bible as literal history, then if certainly seems that God has been silent these many years. Remember the GOD IS DEAD movement about 20-30 years ago? Made the cover of TIME magazine as I recall.
Funny, I was thinking about this last night, too. Is God gone? Not feeling well? Busy? Bored? Pissed? All of the above? Makes you wonder....................

JWs: If the Bible is really all we need, then why all this WTS literature?
by whyizit ini've noticed when i ask jws questions, they keep handing me all kinds of booklets and encourage me to look in the reasoning book.
they do not answer my questions.
and why do they not refer me to the bible?

God wrote THE BOOK. He doesn't need help. He didn't get it wrong the first time. He didn't make it confusing.
Hmmmmmm.........well, actually He did..............otherwise the door wouldn't have been opened for the craziness of the WTS................
