A: No..no...It's not even true of us today. Because none of us today are inspired. We dont feel there's anyone in our organization that is inspired or anybody elses. We feel what is already inspired is already written down.
So where does new light come from? An altered interpretation of what was interpreted previously? How thin is this reasoning?
It begs the question: If not inspired, then what "truth" do they have?
is the watchtower organization filled with child molesters?
maybe not - but the cano incident should make us think about an allied problem,.
namely, general corruption and rot.. many years ago, it was not unknown to find strange photos and other materials in a bethel brother's room, after he died unexpectedly.. that doesn't prove that there is a massive problem with child molestation.
Leave us not forget that the WTS sits in judgment of all witnesses by their practice of disfellowshipping - this is not an opinion, it is fact.
And their stated rationale for sitting in judgment over their brothers?
"To keep the congregation clean."
And yet, Mr. Cano has been under their noses for - what? - 16 years - in the bosom of the Bethel Family - yet, with all the filth clinging to him, they couldn't sniff it out?

i have searched the watchtower library with no results.
but since cano was a bethel elder serving in walkill, even being sent abroad as a watchtower representative there could be a chance that there is a picture of him in the literature or that he was a model for some bible character.
would be hard to find but maybe someone has inside information?

The most amazing part is how unguarded he was! He was speaking off the top of his head, and shooting himself in the foot (mixing metaphors here) at the same time.

1. Newbies think they are a hotline directly to Jehovah's lips. They think of Brooklyn headquarters as the CNN of Truth and New Light. All writings and publications are viewed as a News Bulletin from heaven.
2.Bros. and sisters who have been around for awhile more moderately hold the opinion that only the Watchtower Society has the actual pure view of what Jehovah's will and purpose is, but, are willing to concede that the Organization sometimes makes inadvertant errors which God eventually sorts out. Error=no big deal.
3.The old-timers are a different species. Those who have been around for decades KNOW there is something rotten at the core but have no place else to go. Why? Because they have been taught to hate other religions and points of view. These hardcore rank and file members have learned to split their personality into two faces; one public and one private. These are bedrock community of person's hanging on by their fingernails and getting angrier and angrier each time Pedophilia or U.N. scandal stories are released. However, they have a knee-jerk defense mechanism.
Veteran JW's don't want to admit they have wasted their entire lives on a bogus religion. Consequently, they become hardcore defenders NO MATTER WHAT. They are protecting their investment.

Excellent analysis and I agree 100%. As a 3rd gen, I have family members who I suspect of falling into category #3 and are Veteran JWs - how can you build a new life at 70-80-85 years old when a lifetime of family, friendships, beliefs are discarded? Easier to hope for the best and hang on tenaciously. My grandfather, a lifelong, loyal JW died in 1969, but shortly before had confided, "If something doesn't happen in 1975.......then I just don't know." His son, my uncle, now 84 and the last of 4 sons is still hanging on like a bulldog.
ok the first time i thought it was pretty cool how they applied every little scripture to themselves.
i sat rapt with my young children while we discussed wonderful things to come.
the second time i was like...where's my old book with all the notes in the margins, im not looking all this sh-t up again!.

problem is, the 'backout" here is that this wasn't the Society's directive. Clearly it was handwritten and he must have misunderstood.

Hi,I'm new. I've been afraid to post here and am really nervous. I am one of Jehovahs Witnesses and am really sad. I think that the brothers do not show enough love and am thinking of leaving. But I had a question. If I leave, where else could I go? I am convinced that the truth is with Jehovah's people. Who else on earth is doing the preaching work?
