About the topic: yes, I believe we should be able to make some decisions ahead of time - most of us don't want to live helplessly or in pain, especially if the prognosis is dismal anyway.
Asking someone to help us end our life, however, opens them up to possible legal consequences, at least right now. That's why we should have a medically-assisted option.
as many of you are aware being brought up in the organisation, there was a general directive from the wt that secular education was good, but not encouraged as far as university and further education was concerned.
many witnesses left school in the 70s with no formal qualifications.
my question therefore is 2 fold.. 1. what would you have liked to become as far as your career is concerned?.
1. Would've liked to pursue psychology or law
2. Became a freelance grant writer

If you mean individuals, I think $50 per month is way over the top for most dubs. I remember one time my mom instructing my dad to put some $$ in the contribution box. My dad figured out later he may have put in a $20 bill instead of $1. We were pretty poor - such that dad called the brother in charge of accounts to get his $$ back. Sure enough, among the $1 bills, was a twenty. Dad asked for $19 change. Embarrassing. I don't think dad ever put money in the box again.
i think you'll find the social kind in every church, club, or organization on earth.
you know...it's the kind where people try to project themselves to be something that they really don't live up to when nobody is looking.

The "spreading the good news" through tract distribution has several advantages already mentioned, such as providing a less painful way to witness for those who really don't like witnessing.
It also is a "cut and run" maneuver that keeps vulnerable dubs from engaging in conversations with well-informed householders, some of whom will inevitably be apostates.
A thought on the cash flow: Its a big monthly nut to cover; equipment purchases and leases, building maintenance, facility upgrades, mortgages, property taxes (?), care and feeding of the staff, travel, printing supplies, shipping and postage, lawsuits, etc. Even with cutting staffing, they have to feed the monster.

i've been reading a little bit about what anger, resentment & bitterness does to our health.
There is nothing to forgive. We all make our own choices in life.
Hardly fair to those of us raised in it. I don't remember ever having a choice until I became an adult. So my first 23 years, when most of the important choices in life are made, were stolen from me. I say, bugger 'em, too.
if it's true that the society is starting a special campaign against "false religion", we may have them at our mercy!!!!!!!!!.
think about it: if they are stupid enough to print some cheap tract that shows churches and 'stars of david' as 'false religion', we may.
be able to cause enormous trouble by sending these to all public agencies dealing with intolerance and prejudice.. more than that, by posing as witnesses, these tracts may be sent to various people and groups with accompanying letters.
I vote with the "let them hang by their own petard" crowd.
If and when the demise occurs, it will be so much more satisfying if the only tactic used was the "truth."
in an earlier post here http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/6/114651/1.ashx i noted the society's "special campaign" for september, an "awake" magazine dedicated to the topic of evolution vs. creation.
there is a "special campaign" to highlight that magazine all month.. got a call from our po last night.
there is going to be yet another "special campaign" in september -- a new "kingdom news" tract.
I remember years back they likened the use of the special Kingdom tracts to the Israelites marching around Jericho's walls (7Xs ?) and blowing their horns. Last day walls came tumbling down.......Anyone else remember that or did I have a vision?

I, too, remember that particular load of old cod's wallop. (But that doesn't mean you didn't have a vision!) As I recall, it was the seven trumpet blasts that brought the walls down and it was 7 district conventions in Cleveland in the 30's. Such BS, I was embarrassed when we studied this in the Babylon book. One of our CD-Scholars on here could clarify the details.
i was looking up recipes for the breadmaker when i came across this.as early as 610 ad at a monastery somewhere in southern france or northern italy, monks used scraps of dough and formed them into strips to represent a child's arms folded in prayer.
the three empty holes represented the christian trinity.

my father forbade me to attend more than one meeting a week.
Tony Maes, the presiding overseer of my congregation, bent forward to ask me The Big Question in a solemn tone: "Do you have faith in the Faithful and Discreet Slave?" That was it. I had the final confirmation that the god those men worship is their Organization. I told the elders I was disassociating.
