Does God follow his WORD? Or is it --- do as I say and not as I do?
by Gnostic Bishop indoes god follow his word?
romans 12:21 be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good..
job 2;3 and the lord said unto satan: 'hast thou considered my servant job, that there is none like him in the earth, a whole-hearted and an upright man, one that feareth god, and shunneth evil?

cappytan, I think it is awesome stuff to consider, there are a lot of ideas out there that are great to learn about, its like exercising your brain, stretching it out into possible realities, then to come back to only what you know to be true, you have in affect expanded your mind, without having to say "I believe xyz".
The problem with most religion like out beloved WTBS, you can't learn it all then say thanks and walk away, you must sign a contract that says you cant believe or learn anything else and this is absolute TRUTH!...
I think the idea of God was probably originally this way, man stretching his mind into possible explanations and imagination, but along the way people realized this idea gave them power over others. One of my favorite quotes and something that goes against everything the ORG tried to indoctrinate us with is this:
It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it.
I've been that way for a long time, the example I always give is 9/11 conspiracies or the moon landing. So with 9/11 I remember people watching loose change, and many saying "that is ludicrous, I can't accept our government could do such a thing". and there in lies the problem. I think you need to be able to entertain any idea, and if you don't know for sure be able to walk away and say its not possible for me to say for sure. But with going there in your mind, and saying, i have to believe that it is possible, you are back in control of your mind, unlike the ones that say "they would never do that!!" they are biased to a fault.
Long story short lol, I'm with you, I love ideas of levels of consciousness etc, it is a rabbit hole, but as long as you aren't indoctrinated by it take the trip.

Some Scholars "feel" that...
by enigma1863 ini am tired of jws using spin words to make it sound like scientist and scholars are not sure about what they are talking about whenever the wtbs doesn't agree with what they are saying.
they'll say stuff like the bible is true but some scientists feel evolution is.... do you know any good examples of these twisting of words?.

How do you respond to JW family?
by Laika infor those who have left and are still in contact with jw family, how do you usually respond when they bring up jw stuff, i.e.
start talking about the nearness of armageddon or things like that.. i usually say nothing and just let it pass but i'm considering changing tact to something more confrontational, less because i want to change their mind and more because i find it tiresome.
thoughts?

Say nothing! They are preaching to you to bait you into a witch hunt. Trust me. I always kept my mouth shut, when I suggested they not speak so callous and extreme because it would actually not draw people to god but turn them away, I got drawn into a debate, the debate turned into accusations and now no one is speaking to me anymore. Just ignore them. I know its hard. Feel it out carefully at the least, if someone really wants to speak about rationality ok, but generally I would steer clear, they may already suspect and they are waiting to get to the bottom of it so they can get down to the punishment/shunning part to make you come back to god.jw.cult its a trap.
Just remember this scary fact about the witnesses and other high control religions and governments
Thinking critically or independently are the MOST offensive and WORST sins you can commit. It's sick but that is the reality.

hmmmm. Well not sure. It has always been attractive to me as a non Abrahamic ass hole religion. I knew a lot of atheists who considered themselves secular Buddhists. So I know they didn't really buy that part. Just worship lucifer like me lol. There are some gnostic folks who believe missing chunk of Jesus life where he grew up he was in the easy learning Buddhism. All conjecture but interesting. I would never tie myself to any religious ideology fully again. I'd take the good philosophical bits away without buying the total package. Like even jesus or the people who made him up had good ones like do to others... although so did Buddhism long before him -

Not sure. But I always liked metaphysical stuff. Less as an answer and more just as cool ideas. And I think there can be physical links attributed to much of it. powerful things your mind can do that are natural but unexplainable in the past so metaphysical explanations were given.

All they are doing is preaching work harder for less, instead of work smarter for more.
Most millionaires have 8 revenue streams, and they are not working full time on all of them .
The goal of entrepreneurial pursuits is really not to work your ass off. It's the opposite!
Working smart gives you freedom. So if witnesses weren't such miserable, self and others loathing people, who blame: the world, satan, their brothers and sisters, and so on, for all their woes, they might accomplish something, find a real happiness. But they stay in a rut of manual labor for little money or satisfaction.
This just shows me how unenlightened they are, not even the downplaying of education etc, because I have an education but I believe self education will always make you more than formal education. But, its this idea the work has to be miserable unless you are in a factory printing off watchtowers. Thats clear deceit
