i want to know who the watchtower writer is that wrote the bookstudy book, "pay attention to daniel's prophecy".
someone here must have that information, or knows someone who does.
perhaps a few discrete inquiries would provide the name of the author?

It's probably Loyd Berry, as the primary writer/editor, but most books have at least 2 writers. They take turns, one writes, while the other edits and fits the text to the allowed space. I recently called a friend of mine who was a "heavy" in writing (wrote many WT study articles, editor for FF, Aid book, and Insight...), and he indicated that he believed Loyd Berry was connected with it. i've been away from this board for a really long time, since then i've made huge progress in my recovery from life in the jw world thanks to some professional help.
now i am at the point where i just don't want to be anywhere near anyone remotely associated with the organization.
my parents no longer speak to my husband and i, but when i do have to interact with my jw inlaws i feel incredibly sick.
I understand how you feel zenpunk. I have faded only recently (< 1 year), but I’ve not been DF’d/DA’d (yet). However, by remaining this way, I’ve been in a position to talk to other JW’s, even other faders, about the real truth about JW teachings, whereas this probably would not have been possible had I been denounced from the JW-platform.
My brother and his family no longer talk to me, but they started this crap while I was still attending meetings! It’s hard to take at times, but like others have said, I don’t want to play by their rules! I’ve done nothing wrong! I’m not going to give in to their crap! However, I understand that some require a measure of closure, and so send a DA letter. Most of the folks I know on this board will support whatever decision you make; we’re very understanding. Take care! Wish you folks the best whatever you decide.

there are a few talks that you can maybe make some off-handed comments to your significant other that may seem harmless at the time, but you can use to your advantage down the road as you break the news to them about what you have been learning about the "truth".
i did some of these myself and plan to draw on them when i break the news to my wife.

You can be grateful that your son is confiding in you! When I was his age, I would never have done this! Anyway, I don’t know what to add here from what others have posted, but please don’t distance your son from the close communications you currently wonderful have! However, you’ll want to safeguard him from pedophiles, rampant in JW-system! Regardless of you sons feelings, you sound like a wonderful parent; therefore, do keep the lines of communication open, and talk frequently. Share your inner thoughts about the matter at hand.

I do not believe his death has influenced the pull-back to once-a-month publication of Awake! Magazines! However, I'm sure his death has given pause to the "generation" that thought they'd see the "end" in their lifetime.

Min, I use to believe that the best approach was to use logic and reason. Unfortunately, I haven't been that successful with that approach. Probably the reason is, that most of those who became JW's in adult life got into it mainly because of its emotional appeal, not logic and reason. So my new approach is to appeal to emotional needs first, with logic and reason second.
I recently had an opportunity to try this out on a young JW couple, and oh boy, did I get an ear load! I started the conversation off by asking them how they felt about never doing enough in the organization, no matter how much one does it's never enough! This eventually led to a brief discussion about some really crazy WT teachings, and I provided them a reference in WT literature for further examination. I'll make an RV soon; it looks very promising! -- hehe

a letter read during the announcements states that due to increased costs of health insurance and vehicles provided for traveling overseers (circuit and district overseers) the watchtower bible and tract society has determined the need to ask for a specific "contribution" for the "traveling overseer assistance arrangement".. .
until this date expenses of this sort were paid from the worldwide work or general fund of contributions.. .

Regarding Awake! Magazines online, they already have a cross section of older articles organized by topic on their web site. However, items 3, 6, 8, and 10 seem to agree with me. Also, they'll probably continue to move away from printed literature as they can make a lot more money producing videos!

Early publications of the Society (circa 1922 and before) actually state that God turned his universal sovereignty over to Nebuchadnezzer! More recent publications, however, try to deflect this obvious problem by restricting it to God's sovereignty with reference to the earth. But as you point out, the paragraph first states that the tree stands for God's universal sovereignty; their explaination is truly confusing! Anyway, did God actually turn his sovereignty over earth to a demon worshiper in 607 BCE? And even prior to that, did God turn his sovereignty over to the kingly line of David? Where is that in the Bible? The whole Gentile Times concept is simply CRAZY!

On another note, I heard a rumor that there's a major uprising, where some from high positions and those that have left or been kick-out, are doing a major letter-writing campaign to see if they can jolt the GB! Has anyone else heard about this? And is this related to this purging?
