how will that personally affect you?
It's killing us because the price of everything seems to be tied to fuel prices. We live in rural Alabama, where there is no public transportation. It costs more just to get to work. Couple that with the price of food steadily climbing. Wages stagnant. We are drowning.
(btw, I have a Saturn which gets 40mph, hubby has an small S-10 pick-up)
i watched this film last night, and it made me really really grateful that we have free health care in the uk.
i know we complain about the state of the nhs, but the bottom line is if there is ever anything wrong with me my first thought will not be 'does my insurance cover this' or 'can i afford this'.. there was one part of the film where michael moore takes some people to cuba to get free health care and one woman picks up inhalers for 5 cents a piece, that are costing her $120 in the us.
she just breaks down and crys at the disparity of the cost.. it was also telling to see the insurance companies employ people specifically to try and find ways to deny claims or to void policies where a claim has been made.
When we had to take our son to a rheumatologist the bill was $3,000.00 for an office visit. Our insurance paid it, but why in the world would 10 minutes talking to a doctor and one cortisone/steriod shot cost $3,000.00
Our health insurance goes up every year, usually about 1% more than his so-called pay raise. This year they weren't given a raise, but the insurance still went higher. You can't afford to not have insurance. If you get sick you will die!
Now if my husband's job closes down and moves to Mexico (like 8 others plants owned by the company), we have a child with a pre-existing condition.
i go to this pub (sort of like a cheers tv kinda pub) and since we can't smoke in there we have to step outside.
last tuesday (on a meeting night) an elder all dressed up walks past me on the same side walk.
he glances at me so i gave a nod gester.
If being seen by an elder smoking outside a pub doesn't get ya df'd then you may be a lifer. LOL.
the governing body should be hanging their heads in shame watching how the events unfolded in south africa at oprah winfrey's school.
her fearless way in meeting the problems head on, not covering up, calling in expert help, investigating, apologizing, getting all adults away from the campass so the girls could talk openly about what happened.
those girls came first.
Oprah shed tears and got to work. She is amazing. She was visibly upset by what happened. She is amazing and I love her.
just thinking about a song that we used to sing at the kh....cannot remember the name of the song, but it was quite popular at the assemblies.. the questionable lyrics were, "fear not those who kill the body, but cannot destroy the soul" it continues on with "to the end continue faithful, i will take you to your goal".. this was from the old songbook (remember, the purple one).
has the wt$ changed the lyrics to this song?
do they sing it anymore?

ok, so whenever i would question the justice of the df policy, i kept.

people are not disfellowshipped because of the actual sin, they are.
It would help if you can sling snot and tears. I couldn't, so I got booted.
in the interest of self-healing and finding the peace that comes from being grateful, can you think of anything at all that was positive about having been one of jehovah's witnesses?.
not to be misunderstood with missing something about it, is there something about the experience that has enriched you?.
to answer the question myself, being forced to face the fallacies of the teachings of jwism, i was also prompted to look past those teachings and reevaluate everything i believed in.. that experience was frightening and unsettling, but i'm thankful for it.. i now have a greater appreciation for life in all its wonder than i did when i took it for granted as one of jehovah's witnesses.. i'm more determined now to find meaning in this life, after having lived for so long for a future that was never to arrive..
