US Zone visit: disappointing, depressing, discouraging
by sir82 ini will have plenty of "snark" to post later on, but please indulge me while i get this out of my system..... suppose you are the leaders...yes, the leaders...there are only 7 of you...for the one true religion in all the universe.. jehovah the god of the whole universe speaks to you, you alone, out of 7 billion+ people on teh planet.. you have an opportunity, thanks to the advancements in technology, to speak to 750,000 of your followers "live", and another 750,000 or so within 24 hours.. 1.5 million people!
hanging on your every word!.
this is the first time in history you can simultaneously, or nearly simultaneously, address so many of your adherents.. what message are you going to present for this special occasion?.

I saw this snipet when researching THanksgiving with my school aged child for his project. Never knew the other side of this argument, other than infant baptism was abhorrant. So here's a start to my new understanding (others, feel free to add).
http://mayflowerhistory.com/religion/
Infant Baptism.
The Pilgrims believed baptism was the sacrament that wiped away Original Sin, and was a covenant with Christ and his chosen people (as circumcision had been to God and the Israelites), and therefore children should be baptized as infants. This was in opposition to the Anabaptists, who believed that baptism was essentially an initiation ceremony into the church-hood of believers, and therefore could only be administered to believing adults who understood the meaning of the ceremony. The Pilgrims, on the other hand, believed that "baptism now, as circumcision of old, is the seal of the covenant of God," and they felt that groups like the Anabaptists who did not baptize their infants were depriving Christ's flock of all its young lambs. Richard Clyfton, one of the founders of the Pilgrims' church, even published a book on the topic, A Plea For Infants (Amsterdam, 1610). They further believed that at least one parent must be of the faith for the child to be baptized into the church. -

"Confidential" JW.ORG Video Project Leaked
by Emery insyneidos posted some interesting information on reddit regarding jw.org's latest project for the upcomming 2015 memorial campaign.. for next year's 2015 memorial campaign, jw.org is producing an invitational video featuring jesus.
the video is still being filmed at the moment and i was told it was super "confidential.
" my source already saw several scenes from it and said, "it looks and feels like a cinematic movie.

But, they don't really promote Jesus in their meetings. They promote the God of Abraham. So, most people are not going to buy into it.

Awake January 2015: How did life begin? - More misquotes
by Designer Stubble in
some might assume that a scientifically-minded person would pick evolution and that a religious person would pick creation.
but not always.. rama singh, professor of biology at canadas mcmaster university, says: the opposition to evolution goes beyond religious fundamentalism and includes a great many people from educated sections of the population.
.
end-of-quote in awake.

Has growing up as a JW affected my ability to forgive ?
by troubled mind ini really don't understand the concept of forgiveness .
lately in my life several people have thrown that term around so easily ,and i am confused .
is it because we were taught to cut people off so easily as jws that i find it hard to forgive ?.

17 y.o. Sydney Boy Threatens to fly the black flag over the White House
by fulltimestudent ini think i'm going to get flamed for this, but it needs to be said.. this kid is full of bravado, and if his head is as stuffed full of muslim ideology, as my head was once stuffed full of christian ideology, he probably believes that allah (the other face of yahweh) wants him to do it, and that if he dies in the effort, he will be rewarded in paradise.. before i post his story, please consider that the ideology of martyrdom, has both a christian face and a muslim face.
ignatius, the second bishop of antioch, wanted to die for jesus, just as the young man in the following story, likely imagines that he is willing to die for allah.. ok, that's out of the way, so here's the story:.

The first part of solving a problem, is being a realist and not an idealist.
ISIS is taking responsibility for this attack on its Twitter, linking the gunman to it. Whether or not they are in cahoots or not, seems to be needed to be found out. Islamic chatter for an attack on Canada has been heating up since September. But, talk is cheap. He was wearing all black, with a black cloth over his face. It if looks like a duck, it's likely a duck. He was a high risk traveler, and his passport was recently revoked. He changed his name from an English to an Islam name . . .
Is this man a lone wolf? Does it matter? We think a lone wolf is just one idiot mad man. But, why can't a lone wolf be an operative of a larger group? Jehovah's Witnesses going door-to-door, are not lone wolves. Why can't a large group of people, be brainwashed individuals?
It's very hard for some people to recognize that others are mean and terrible people. I was one of those people. I propped up my family as being great, but am now beginning to see them for what they are, hurtful people. And, I am beginning to learn the biggest mystery, why I needed to prop-up bad people who as being good and worthy of respect. The below article was very helpful for me, and I hope it is for you. President Obama's administration & many liberals have a hard time identifying terrorists and terrorists acts. We called one, "a workplace violence act" when all the evidence appears to be religously motivated in the name of Allah. . .and another was blamed on an anti-Islam film as a scapegoat. It's as if the current administration wishes the Islam bad boys were roses, and by not calling them what they really are, we somehow can make them into cuddly teddybears . . . (who don't open gunfire, fly planes into buildings, bomb planes out of the air, and definately don't behead journalists and human aid workers).

Facing the Truth About Hurtful People
You see, we are dealing with a cult. Whether it's a lone soldier, or an organized militia, it's a cult that uses terror as its fear factor. We can't be idealistic and ignore it. It's not going to change that way. We have to be realist. We have to be willing to say, that this Canada terrorist act that happened today seems to be Islamic motivated, given the dress, actions of the terrorist waiving his arms in the air after he shot the soldier, the chatter, and ISIS admition that it was a terrorist act. It sure smells of terrorism at this point.
ISIS, Al Queda, Hamas, whatever you call it. It's a cult. Radical Islam (and Islam) is a cult. Steve Hassan's article today in the Huffington POst, was wonderful. Did you read it?
