Nothing positive to offer!
by cornish inthe biggest objection that most current borg members have to leaving is that even though there may be false and wrongs in their religion there is nothing better or nothing else which is positive that anyone else or anything else has to offer.
it seems that truth is not the primary criteria of most j w s even though they use the word truth in a completely habitual way, but they will not be shifted from a nice cosy illusion true or false, so how would you answer the objection that there is nothing positive to offer outside the watchtower?
how would you answer this in a direct and forthright way ?

Denial-A familiar story
by cornish inits amazing how many, after seeing the damning evidence of the video featuring bin laden talking about the attrocities, dismiss it as a doctored fake etc, they just cannot accept the possibility it might be true,it just seems like what ever evidence is presented it will be dissmissed as not to be trusted, just what would they accept as proof, nothing it seems.. havent we heard this all before somewhere?.

Question re the UN
by uncle_onion insince leaving the jws, i have tried to evaluate all sides of an arguement before coming to a decision on something.. something has been bothering me: according to the uk bethel, the wts applied for ngo status and then the joining rules were put up after they had joined?
could this be true?
what about the claim that they only joined to recieve a library card?.

Trading Standards
by cornish inthis thought just crossed my mind.. if the watchtower society was a product and not a religion they would be prosecuted by the advertizing standards authority for misleading advertizing, and the trading standards authority for not supplying the promised product.. .
it seems that we have more rights when we buy a vacume cleaner or groceries than when we buy into a religion that can control our whole lives resources.

Witnesses of Jehovah?
by cornish ini have often wondered, those folk on that video witnesses of jehovah, its a few years since it was made,i wonder how the folk in the video are getting on.does anyone know them,do they visit here?
.
also i think it would be good if a new version was made more up to date with new stuff like the failed generation the un etc,i remeber when i was a witness about 5 months before i left someone who was not a jw lent me the video 'witnesses of jehovah,' and although i was a bit scared about watching it myself and another witness friend did actually get the courage to watch the video, and although there were some things of the video that i were dismisive of other thigs did reach us deep down inside and were part ot the contribution of myself and friends way out of the watchtower, also seeing clips of russel on video etc talking about the pyramids were new to me,im sure there are plenty of volunteers who would take part in a good documentary, updated.

England did us Proud
by cornish in.
ok, so england lost 2-1 against brazil, but at the end of the day it could have gone either way but luck was on brazils side, and throughout the tornament england have proved true gladiators.. congratulations brazil and well done to the england team.. i think that playing footie in that searing heat does favour an equatorial country a bit,i think that if the game was played in cooler evening conditions it would definately have favoured england and made it tougher for brazil,i mean personaly in 80 to 90 degrees of humid heat i dont feel much like moving let alone playing a fast game of footie yet in countries like brazil it is a normal day, since the world cup is so often played in these conditions to accomadate league fixtures it is often more of a test of heat stanima than football ability, anyway it does get a bit borring when the same old teams keep winning ,a bit of a foregone conclusion, zzzzzzzzz,at least france was a change last time,.
who can rise to the challenge and take out boredom from the finals.. congratulations brazil and well done to the england team .
