  Going to Walt Disney World - Any suggestions?

  we're bringing our 9 and 7 year old kids to disney over the x-mas break this year.

  it's actually going to be their gifts and they don't know we're going.

  just wondering if anyone has any suggestions as to what to see or do there or what to avoid.. something else we just found out, since they cancelled the space shuttle launch the other day, they may be doing it on jan. 2, i'm excited about possilbly going to see it!

  I was there May of 06 and had the most fun at Animal Kingdom and Epcot. I'm a total foodie, so the international area of Epcot had the most to offer The safari ride at Animal Kingdom as well as the way it was divided into different sections of the world with different attractions for each region was really enjoyable.

  If you want to hit rides, I'd recommend Universal Studios with a preference to the new section (can't remember the name). Seaworld was worth a day as well.

  If you are renting a car, you might look into the Dali Museum in Tampa Bay. As a fan of surrealism in general and Dali in particular, nothing beat seeing this painting full size (I swear it was 8-10 feet tall)

  i've been attempting to infiltrate my friend's christmas traditions in an attempt to understand and appreciate the holiday.

  i only had christmas until i was 5 when my mom converted to jw.

  before that, christmas was really big in our house.

  TP, it's been a few years since my first round of holidays. It was odd, but I had my siblings to go thru it with (they'd both been out for a year or two). It was actually much more traumatic when I first attended someone else's family events. Now my preferences definitely run toward the "orphan" holidays. By that I mean spending the holidays with other persons who are lacking a traditional family. It turns out to be more of a social gathering while enjoying others' company and hearing about the holiday histories.

  Don't try to force yourself to be exactly like others, everyone has a different definition of the holidays, different traditions and different expectations. Allow yourself to integrate as much as you are comfortable with but don't get too hung up on not fitting in right away.

  to approach this subject.

  this subject is a pretty touchy one for most of us men, especially those of us that have been put under the " knife" , and got to the point where we did not want any more children.

  I had mine done about 6 years ago. Like flipper I got my first introduction to valium It was a quick procedure followed by a weekend of being waited on hand & foot. The poke from the lidocaine was the most painful part. I found the doctor wearing a polka dot bow tie to be more unnerving than the procedure itself (something about dropping trou for a man with a silly tie felt a little strange). It's well worth the peace of mind my partner(s) and I can enjoy.

  Over the last couple of years these boards (this one and several others) have helped validate some of the issues we all seem to face as well as give me perspective of my personal experiences and those of others. Initially they helped provide much needed support, processing and education around the borg, now they still offer new insights but are primarily a social endeavor for me. I really enjoy having the opportunity to interact with such a diverse and colorful community.

  JW's in Coffee Shop Using ME as a Lesson to their Children

  i already know jw's believe they are better than everyone else, what with being god's only chosen people and all that.. well, i am sitting at my table, minding my own business.

  Damn Liv, they would've had a coronary with me then :D

  I was at the coffee shop near my house (yes I have seen dubs in there on occassion) on Saturday wearing a kilt (had one leg shaved Sunday), hoodie w/flash art up both sleeves, the usual facial piercings and I'm sure there was a faint aroma of pot smoke. Usually they don't even talk in my presence, kind of like a sensory overload or something.

  I'm sorry you had to deal with rude self righteous people, you're fabulous and deserve better.
