  For History Buffs--Photo Drama of Creation Sequence?

  i just obtained a cd of movies and slides of the photo-drama of creation.

  it has movies of russell talking and some movies of bible themes.

  then there's a narrated slide presentation that appears to match the text of the photo drama book.

  I just obtained a CD of movies and slides of the Photo-Drama of Creation. It has movies of Russell talking and some movies of Bible themes. Then there's a narrated slide presentation that appears to match the text of the Photo Drama book. There's over 8 hours of material here. It's not organized, however, by how the viewer in 1914 would have seen the materials. (And I know there were different editions of the Drama with some showings being shorter.)

  Would anyone know how the Photo Drama was organized? I'm imagining Russell appeared first and then the narrated slides began. But, I'm not sure about this. I'm wondering if there are any history buffs out there who could tell me how it was arranged? Thanks!

  i've seen online files of the emphatic diaglott online before but they did not have the greek interlinear text portion.

  I'm not necessarily recommending the translation but thought it might be a good resource for researchers.

  Don't lose hope. One of the reasons I pursued my wife when I was young was because I knew she was more stable "in the truth" and would help me stay in the Organization. We're both out now. It did take her several years before she was willing to look at things however and that period was hell.

  I wondered about the grape juice/wine statement. I believe Russell as a tee-totatler would have permitted grape juice. And I'd wonder if Rutherford would have preferred wine. But, I'm unaware of this as a controversy. Anyone else?

  For Inquisitor: I was troubled a bit by the closing myself. He does, however, say that the "genuinely hungry for God" are also attracted to the JWs. I missed where he "mocks JW doctrines only on the basis of them being so different from orthdoxy." His article is not a review of their theology but a description of them. He does note accurately that the religion does not appeal to the college educated.

  Again, I'd have said some things differently myself.

  Technical info requested on WT printing/binding (any Bethelites out there?)

  i'm a bookseller who's delving into the history of book production.

  since i'm a collector of wt publications, i'm especially interested in any information available on the following:printers: prior to 1919, most of the books and magazines published by the wts were printed by commercial printers.

  i would like to get information on which printers russell and rutherford contracted with.binding: i am interested in any information on suppliers of the bookbinding materials used by the wt.

  Very interesting. So, they called in the president of Conkey to testify. I remember that Witness, Inc. published the entire trial and I believe there were documents in it which showed how much the Society paid for the binding. Seems like it was much cheaper than what it was sold to the public. I could be wrong. I'd like to confirm that again. Thanks for finding that Cathy!

  Did you make life altering decisions because of 1975?

  i had extended family members, both with families of 7, abandon good jobs and homes in the suburbs of chicago.

  they moved to the wild outskirts of 2 separate states to protect their families from armageddon.

  they both waited for 20 years, wound up financially destitute and finally had to move and depend on other family members to recover.. it would be interesting to read the stories from those of you who went through this time period as a jw.. r.

  Gave up the idea of going to college. (I graduated from high school in 72.) By the time I'd left the JWs it was too late for me to think about going to college (with family responsibilities, etc.). I know several others which did the same thing. Two of my closest friends in my old congregation in Idaho were valedictorians. Both pioneered. Both went to Bethel.
