The problem I always had with the WT stance on homosexuality was this: the Bible says no one would be tested beyond their endurance. So why would homosexuals be expected to live a completely celebate life in order to not commit this supposed sin? That scripture about not being tested beyond our endurance always bothered me. What about people who commit suicide? They obviously experienced more than they could handle, yet Jehovah says we would never experience such a thing. The whole thing is such bullshit.
The Bible obviously condemns homosexuality - so the problem is not solely with JW's on this - the problem is with the Bible and it's twisted view on morality. How can it be a "moral code" when actions took place clearly opposing the basic laws of morality? (such as keeping a harem; raping a woman in wartime only to be forced to marry her; etc.)

"daniel-p you would have been reading from a manuscript."
Yes, that's part of why that dream quickly faded once I got into my late teens! -

'I love Jehovah'! What is that supposed to mean?
by Gill ini'd like someone to explain to me, why so many people come out with the phrase, 'i love jehovah'?.
what is it that they're meant to be loving?.
jehovah was a pretty nasty war god of the israelites.

I loved what I was taught about him, but I was always confused in my heart about who he actually is. For instance, I could never understand the war-god persona he had in the Hebrew Scriptures. Scriptures that say stuff like "slaughter man woman and child and feel no mercy" does not sound like the god WT wants me to believe in, or the god I want to believe in. Throughout the Bible there are contradictions over who Jehovah really is. And I'm not just talking about the difference between Old/New Testaments. In Proverbs he is described as a God hating violence, while just a generation before he led David and his men on savage conquests commiting genocide on nearby tribes and ethnicities. He doesn't repay error on successing generations, yet he kills David's firstborn, as well as all the firstborns of Egypt.
In the Greek Scriptures he is refered to in glowing terms by Jesus, but then Revelation quickly brings in the destructive qualities of now 2 dieties: Jehovah and Jesus.
My conclusion: there will never be any shortage of dieties. I do feel that monothiesm is one of the greatest concepts of humankind, but also the most dangerous. You can rationalize any course of action, and that is a very dangerous and animal thing. -

I guess I'm not privy to this forum's etiquette. It seemed obvious to me that a given subject would be discussed in a single thread, as that makes the most sense. Then again, I'm just some guy on the internet posting nonsense to a person I don't know and will likely never meet. God I need a drink....

It will be interesting to see who gets sent home. They can't just send all the grunts home - they do all the work. And they can't send all the heavies home because they are the ones running things. Brooklyn has appx. 3300 Bethelites, Wallkill 1400, and Patterson 1200. It seems they will send a lot of "middle-weights" (8+ years seniority) home because a lot of these are married with their wives wiling away their lives doing menial housekeeping tasks - surely disposable in their eyes. Housekeeping could reduce personell by 3/4's if they installed young males to clean the rooms - not because the sisters don't work hard, but because young brothers can be pressured to work harder and faster without fear of reprisal. Much time and energy is spent keeping these poor sisters happy and taken care of - they are not pressured to work harder like the brothers are. Also, a lot of "middlewieghts" occupy fake jobs. What do I mean by fake? Well, I have personally seen department overseers create jobs for these said middleweights if they have expressed dissatisfaction with their assignment and if they are "in" with the dept. overseer. A lot of these "created" jobs could easily be dispensed with. For example, semi-important white-collars have trained back-ups in case they go on vacation, sick leave, etc. These back-ups may have nothing else to do - just a back-up with no primary position.
