Yeah... if Danny reads this, I would also like to know the details of picketing. I am not planning on picketing anytime soon, but I am curious and interested, and it's good for future reference.

Hey everyone...
Sorry I didn't post about this before! Everyone keeps asking me, so I'll let you know.
My second interview was last Tuesday. I managed to not prominently display my bra for the interviewers to see this time, so there's one good thing. The interview seemed to go okay. They seemed very friendly and enthusiastic toward me, but maybe that's just how they seemed toward everyone. Anyway, I know that I was one of out only a few who got called back, so my bra-showing-through-the-shirt thing must not have been a big deal to them.
However, I do not think that I got the job, cause the interview was last Tuesday and I haven't heard from them since. On Tuesday morning, when I was leaving the interview, they said they would let me know EITHER WAY later that day or the next (which, obviously, would be Wednesday). Well, I didn't hear from them at all, and it's now been a week, so I guess I can assume I didn't get it. Oh, well, I guess it was not meant to be for me. Maybe God has something different in mind. I do wish they had called, though, just to say that I hadn't gotten it, since they said they would, but my mom says everyone says that's not too rare for someone to just say that and not call.
It's kind of difficult to get a job in the Buffalo area (which you probably all know). It's hard enough finding something even with a degree, and since I don't have one yet, it's really proving difficult. But that's okay. I have had some other interviews, and one looks really promising, so I'm not too worried. I just wish that I knew so I could figure out if whatever job I get will conflict with my school schedule in the fall.
So I guess we at least all learned a lesson: you CAN accidentally wear a see-through shirt without a camisole to an interview and get called back for a second one... but um, that's something I am going to be very aware of from now on and NEVER do again!

I am a magnet for men in cults
by kristyann inokay, so the ex-jw boyfriend and i finally broke up... and i am not really looking for anyone right now.
that was 2 and a half years of a pretty crazy relationship, and i don't think that i was particularly healthy staying in it.
i don't mind just hanging out with some guys, but i am not in the mood for anything serious after that roller coaster ride.. do you know what is so weird, though?

Hahaha, thanks for the offer, daystar, and for the compliment to Gerard and whomever else. Okay, I guess I do just attract men to a point, no matter what... but why do some of the good ones have to be in CULTS? lol
Thanks for the info and links and book recommendations to everyone else, too.
I think the job thing might be a no-go... I'm going to make a post about it.

Will Bill Gates be destroyed at Armageddon?
by Virgochik ini just watched the wgn- chicago evening news.
i was so moved by the segment on the gates foundation.
bill and melinda gates have already donated 10 billion dollars to charity.

Yeah, I know... it's so weird that they would consider donating to ANY charity a waste of money. They think the only place money should be donated to is to themselves (of course, so that they can buy more Porsches or whatever!)
But the typical rank-and-file JW thinks that way, too. I know my ex-boyfriend's family (who are still JWs) are not impressed with anyone helping out ANY charity. You could be in Africa, saving people's lives, helping the poor and starving, helping women that have been beaten up and raped and left on the side of the road, donating money to help burn victims, delivering Meals on Wheels, WHATEVER, and it would all be a WASTE OF TIME to them. The only thing they think is a worthy use of "donating time or money" is either sending your check to the Worldwide Work, building a Kingdumb Hall, or pounding on people's doors at 7:00 AM.

That was 2 and a half years of a pretty crazy relationship, and I don't think that I was particularly healthy staying in it. I don't mind just hanging out with some guys, but I am NOT in the mood for anything serious after that roller coaster ride.
Do you know what is SO weird, though? NOW I met this guy that I really thought seemed like he'd be fun to hang out with. He's attractive and funny and very kind and all sorts of things. And then I find out he is a MORMON! What the heck? That'd ridiculous. I just wanted to hang out and do something fun with him, anyway, but now I know he'd probably try to convert me and marry me. I mean, other than that, he seems very normal, but I know it would be a mistake to get involved.
Still, I am confused as to why these people involved with cults keep showing up in my life, lol. It's so weird, especially because there aren't even hardly any Mormons AROUND this area. I mean, no, the majority of people that ask me out and hit on me (and I usually reject) are probably NOT in cults... but the ONE GUY that seemed somewhat interesting and attractive and fun to me turns out to be a MORMON.
Does anyone know a lot about Mormons, anyway? I am wondering why he even wants to date me. Now he keeps emailing me once or twice a day, and has called me a few times, too. I haven't the slightest clue as to why he'd even be interested in someone who is not a Mormon. Are Mormons not that strict about it? I always heard that they were. Are they stricter about not marrying someone out of the group than JWs are?
I mean, don't Mormons wear all those crazy "garments" (i.e. magical underwear that look like long johns) under their clothes at ALL times cause they think it protects them? The women wear them, too. Doesn't he want a nice little Little House On The Prairie-dressing Mormon woman wearing those garments... not someone who dresses in short skirts and cute little outfits all the time like me? He actually said he LIKES the way I dress! Maybe Mormon men hate those ugly, frumpy garments that they have to wear so that's why they have some sort of fetish for women in sexy little dresses?
Don't worry... I am NOT getting involved... but I am disappointed and a little embarassed that I even talked to him for so long in the first place (before I knew he's a Mormon).

Guantanamo Bay Suicides - a PR Move
by eyeslice inquote from bbc website .
a top us official has described the suicides of three detainees at the us base at guantanamo bay, cuba, as a "good pr move to draw attention".
colleen graffy told the bbc the deaths were part of a strategy and "a tactic to further the jihadi cause", but taking their own lives was unnecessary.

Hey "Kid-A",
<< I notice the only pro-gitmo comments seem to be coming from angry, white retirees who consider Fox news and Bill O'Reilly an accurate source of information, or bubble-headed blond cheerleaders. >>
Nice use of Ad hominem. In case you're unsure...
"
An ad hominem argument , also known as argumentum ad hominem ( Latin , literally "argument against the person") or attacking the messenger, involves replying to an argument or assertion by attacking the person presenting the argument or assertion rather than the argument itself. It is usually, though not always, a logical fallacy (see Validity below)."
I didn't know that because someone was young, blonde, female, and attractive, it meant that they were "bubble-headed" and a cheerleader. That is news to me. That sounds like an extremely prejudicial statement to me. I thought Democrats were such fans of tolerance, and didn't like to stereotype anyone. Apparently it's okay to stereotype someone based on the color of their hair, though. Obviously if someone has blonde hair, it means they are a cheerleader. (And even if someone were a cheerleader, what would that, in your prejudiced mind, imply about them?)
Why would you assume that that other guy is a white retiree? That sounds pretty racist to me. And who cares if he is a white retiree? Is that supposed to be a bad thing?
So if we are judging people based on the fact that they have blonde hair, should we also judge people based on the fact that they have red hair? How about gray hair? Brown hair? If we judge someone based on the fact that we presume they are white (which we don't even know for sure), should we also judge someone based on the fact that they are Latino? How about Asian? How about Native American? How about African? How about Irish people? Polish people? Tall people? Short people? People with big noses? People with green eyes?
It's funny that your argument has been the most ridiculous, intolerant one of anyone's. Instead of actually arguing something based on the facts or some kind of logic, you make prejudiced and racist statements in an attempt to discredit anything that they might have to say. That's the lazy way to go about doing something. Those kinds of comments say nothing about the people you directed them at... they say a whole lot more about you and your level of intelligence.
Trying to shut someone up by stereotyping them so you don't have to deal with an actual argument... sounds very typical of what the Watchtower does. (Label all apostates as evil, label every non-JW as stupid and hopeless, and then you don't have to deal with any actual facts.) I guess you retained what the Watchtower drilled into you quite nicely.
I guess I just can't believe that an adult would actually try to use someone's hair color as an argument. I feel like that belongs more in an elementary school cafeteria, with kids shouting "Na na na na na!" I also cannot believe that someone who supposedly prides himself on tolerance would be so ignorant and prejudiced. I guess that you're tolerant of everyone... everyone that is exactly like you.
(Also, when people started calling each other "morons" and "rednecks," I knew that this was not much of an adult conversation. I guess the name-calling just reminds me too much of the Watchtower and little children on the playground. Again, nice use of ad hominem. You should be extremely proud of yourself. You don't have to bother responding to me, as I will not be checking this thread again as I am so disgusted by the prejudice in it - it is also sad and yet I guess slightly amusing that in this day and age, people will use such prejudiced comments and stoop to such lows for lack of a better argument.)

<< These people have not been charged with anything yet. How are you so sure they would "blow you up if they could"? >>
I have a major problem with people that are currently attempting to kill the soldiers stationed at Guantanamo Bay with makeshift weapons. They're trying to kill people right now. This has been admitted by pretty much everyone. The soliders that work there are among the bravest and most honorable people I can think of.
A better cause would be to help some starving children in Africa with HIV... or how about the starving ones in our own country as well? Or maybe teach some poor kid with crappy parents how to read so that he has the same opportunities to read a Harry Potter book. Besides, even if this is your great cause, are you doing anything about it besides typing about it on a Jehovah's Witness discussion forum?
As much as I would love to continue this wonderful discussion, I have to be going to drop off some neighbor children to the school for their field trip in about an hour, so I have to go get ready. Have fun!

Why would it be so unbelievable to think that I have spoken with a soldier that was at Gitmo?
Go find the Time magazine to find the volleyball and Harry Potter stuff... and just turn on any of the 3 major network newscasts to hear the stuff about the prisoners attempting to kill their "captors."
I'm glad to say that I would not do the same as them, even if I was wrongfully imprisoned. How would faking your suicide and then trying to kill someone be taking the moral highground? I don't believe I have heard too much of that taking place during the Holocaust...

Um, Jourles, even a liberal magazine like Time has admitted that the prisoners go outside and play volleyball and read Harry Potter books. I don't remember the exact issue but I know it was from June 2005 (June 13 or June 20, I think). I think the article was "Inside the Wire at Gitmo." I think the article was an attempt to fuel even more criticism about Guantanamo Bay, but I read it and thought "Wow, these people are playing volleyball and reading Harry Potter!?" It sounded a lot better than I had imagined. They'd blow any one of us up if they could, they hate women and treat them like crap, but they have it better than millions of innocent, poor children around the world and in our own country.
