  what have you learned since leaving ?

  since leaving the jw religion,what can you say that you have learned about life/people in a positive way that you probably would have never experienced.

  if you had remained a witness ?.

  Like others on this thread it was (and still is) to stop looking down on others (worldly) people.

  That appalling smug superiority that JW's possess is sometimes still there in me. That I'm better as I know something they don't. So I pull myself out of that and start to do nice things for other people like offer my seat on public transport and it's very humbling. Things that for some reason I rarely did as a JW.

  JW's really are self made social outcasts due thie attitude they posses and I'm currently fighting.

  We did indeed, and it was fab! Lovely time and great company.

  Aside from Besty and Sweet Pea I've met a few Ex-JW's once before at the UK premier of Truth Be Told. Great to chat and swap stories of life inside.

  My witnessing to an atheist was my last witnessing!

  in the field service, during my preaching to a householder, she interrupted me and said: i would ask something, after getting answer you can continue!

  i said ok. she said: i was not believing in the existence of a god until recently.

  last month, in the middle of the night, i got an emergency call from my hospital to attend to a complicated caesarean case.

  Well the real answer was provided by the gang.

  I asked them why they remained around my car, as though guarding me and my vehicle. They said they are actually criminals. But they knew that the place is very dangerous for a woman to be alone in a car. Hence they thought of guarding me. When they saw the hospital vehicle arriving, they left.

  They were human beings looking after another human being. A simple act of kindness. Nothing divine happened. Which explained why others have been attacked in a similar situation. They did not find themsleves with humans who looked after other humans.

  Strange she should read so much into it. But then people 'want' to believe.

  but over on jwr poster cg4205 has noticed something that demands a seperate thread i think.. at the top of the article, in the can you answer box, it says:.

  Still seems an odd way of expressing it as the text only mentions Jesus.

  I seem to remember that too - but that point is not discussed in the article. It's Jesus that is referred to as king.

  So a (really) embarressing typo I guess.

  So the new Jan WT article on "100 Years of Kingdom Rule—How Does It Affect You?" is up, which I think has its own thread. But over on JWR poster cg4205 has noticed something that demands a seperate thread I think.

  At the top of the article, in the Can You Answer box, it says:

  What? Surely this is Jesus?

  It looks like it is a typo rather than new light as paragraph 3 makes the clear point that it's Jesus. But come on, the typo checking team cocked up with the Numbers numbering in the Silver Sword and now this.

  Where is the Holy Spirit these days?!

  Am I right in thinking that JW's get the 2,520 years in two ways?

  A) As above, 7 (years) x 360 (days) equals 2,520 (then day for a year)
  
  B) 3.5 times of 1,260 days doubled to 7 times of 2,520 days (then day for a year)

  Or is one way the old way of working it out and the other the new way?

  i've been lurking here for a year or two now (since i stumbled across ttatt and was stumbled by it), i even started an account some while back and asked a couple of questions.. but i never actually stood up and said hi... so hi, my name's jon and i'm a dubaholic.. .

  i was "born in" in the 80s - and grew up on a liquid diet of cheap suits and revelation book pictures (i mean really, group after group just staring at the pictures while not listening, i must have spent more time staring at those pictures than i have any work of art in my life, literally hours at each lurid picture).

  i "left" in my teens, but apparently lacking any kind of actual sense, returned to studying with a childhood friend from the congregation in my twenties (although i was never baptised, my entire small family were dubs, so i saw more witnesses than "worldly people" on a regular basis.. they love bombed my arse for years!)..
