  i haven't been on here long but i found this site a couple days ago and quickly realised it had a lot of posts by people going through similar experiences as me.

  i read some of the answers and it helped relieve some inner anguish i've been carrying since everything i came clean to my parents about everything i've been reading about.. .

  i just have been going through a rough patch right now; that might be an under or overstatement depending on your own personal experiences with this kind of stuff.

  Welcome! Interesting how you have awakened because of biology. I was taking a class about California Indian history that made me say, "waitaminute....."

  If you have time, I would recommend watching the dvd set by Joseph Campbell about myths (I can't think of the name right now). It gives you a lot to think about.

  i'm a born in, 32 years in and almost 6 out.

  i've been out of the jw's since october of 2008. i came out due to a variety of factors, blood, historical roots, false teachings etc... my older sister helped me out back in 2008 and i subsequently helped my brother exit and the 3 of us became "born again" christians.. i've been mostly lurking but occasionally posting on jwn for around 5 years.

  My first thought when reading the topic was the last episode of Seinfeld when they are tried under a good samaritan clause (kind of ironic, eh?)

  Who better than God to be tried using the good samaritan clause?

  1.the organization itself denies access to reality and substitutes its own version, interpretations and meanings.. a.only watchtower approved publications are allowed.. b.no higher education is to be pursued.. c.no non-jw friends or associations are encouraged with their "outside" points of view.. d.no free-style questioning of doctrine or criticism permitted.

  curiousity is verboten.. e.threat of being "marked" or disassociated looms over them.

  2.between every real-world event and the rank and file jw's mind is a roadblock.. a.the moment of identifying is short-circuited by an interpretive moment of re-labeling in watchtower-speak.. b.all things happening are forced into a narrow storyline and propagandized as end times happenings leading to armageddon.. 3.social and personal identity is expunged and replaced by a collective persona: "jehovah's witness".. a.private thinking is red-flagged as selfish and sinful.. b.personal improvement, welfare and ambition is crushed and door-to-door ministry substituted as "worthy" endeavors.. c.self-conscious obsession permeates witness awareness as each person is transformed into a public spectacle of performance for judgement.. d.since you aren't an individual you don't really have a right to fall in love and marry or educate or earn.

  Reminds me when I was younger and my folks asking what I kind od job I wanted. "Oh, you don't want to do that. That takes some college and also, we won't need that in the new system."

  Wasn't an issue for me. I had a bunch of titaniun braces put in to fix my shattered vertebrae.

  I didn't read all 7 pages so this might have been already said, but:

  If they are doing this for liability reasons after this goes into affect, they will cancel having elders call up HQ legal in the event of any criminal wrongdoing.

  They might also have all congregations become a sort of franchise. Related in name only.

  they announced last week that the new atanta assembly hall has thus far raised 3.4 million dollars.

  I bet CO's won't be so quick to recommend remodels or new halls anymore. But of course if you give more....*dangles carrot*

  I just finished up a psychology class about behavior. This is doomed to fail. People will catch on fast that their donations that used to have a tangible benefit to them will no longer. They will still donate because that gives them a good feeling but they won't be giving as much. Now, maybe if the higher ups in the org had any sort of that "worldly education", they might have known that.
