  Anybody else had visions?

  when i was separating from my wife and leaving the jws, i had some visions.

  for some strange reason, i decided not to eat for a day, then when i found my thinking clearer and my emotions mellower, i fasted for another two days.

  so after the third day, i was walking down our street and i saw the houses burning after me, i felt this was an affirmation that marriage was decay and destruction, or wasteage.

  The link below provides some information on Theraputic Touch, including details of the very simple test that young Emily Rosa set up to see if practitioners could perform this activity under controlled conditions. This test was published in JAMA, and underwent the same peer-review that any such test should.

  Some Witnesses Enjoy Witchcraft!

  i guess i've just been naive.. i was surprized to find that some 'super loyal'.

  witnesses i know have been practising witchcraft.. of course, they'd never call it that - it seems that.

  when various illnesses arise you get out an assortment.

  One big problem with this is that many "alternative" practitioners also instill in their clients a mistrust of real medicine, making them less likely to seek out or heed qualified advice. Plus, the majority of herbs that are sold as "all natural and safe", have their own unpredictable interactions with prescribed medicines, and very few of these interactions are documented since these remedies have never been subject to long-term controlled studies.

  I always groan when I hear friends describe some medicine or supplement as good simply because it is "natural." I want to ask them; "So, it's good for you like snake venom? Soothing like poison ivy? Tasty like nightshade mushrooms? Those are all natural, too."

  My job is to make sure that doesn't happen! In fact, I was astonished to learn about the McDonald's scam, since the high-prize winners with instant lottery tickets are handled with very high security, and no one knows where they are. I would have thought they use the same dual-security methods we do. In the ideal system, we maintain a Chinese Wall between the people who print the tickets and the state, and another between the lottery staff and the ticket distribution process. This means that (hopefully) no one knows which stores even receive the big winners.

  As far as the McDonald's guys are concerned, did they actually think that they could pull this off over and over without their getting caught? There is not enough money ON EARTH for me to do anything that could result in my being sent to prison for one day, much less for several years.

  OK, the test is on! I have a color photograph of something placed in the middle of my desk right now. I scanned it in and mailed a copy to another person on this discussion board so that there is a record of the picture selected. You can view the photo via any means you wish, the easiest being to look through my office window here in Rhode Island. Do you expect to submit one sketch, or several? The more sketches you make, the more of a chance you have to get something close, and I don't know if that would be a very fair test.

  RI is a Powerball state, and I may pick up a quick-pick ticket today. In fact, I make my living in the lottery industry (I wrote many of the programs that states use for tracking scratch-off tickets), but I rarely play it, and I never buy scratch tickets. When the jackpot gets over a couple of million, the ticket price buys you a few hours or days of daydreaming, and it is worth the price for that alone.

  I think that Randi's offer serves a very valuable purpose by giving those who claim to have special powers a place to prove their claim. As the old saying goes; "extrodinary claims require extrodinary evidence" and it seems that most of the people who have attempted his prize do not get past the basic preliminaries. In other words, once a true double-blind test is applied to folks who - in all sincerity - REALLY believe that they have some power (irrespective of what it may be), they can't perform their feat.

  I don't quite understand what this remoe viewing entails. Is it a matter of you or her seeing the same thing that I or another person sees, or that we think about? Or is it a matter of having us both agree on a specific location, and your being able to see what is there? In any case, what I can do right now for a preliminary test is take a photo of something and put it right in the middle of my desk here in the office. Now, (again, I'm not trying to be a smart-ass here), do I have to tell you the address or can you locate this just based on MY knowing where it is?

  That kind of result would indeed be much greater than what you expect from chance alone. In all seriousness, why not go after the $1,000,000 prize offered at www.randi.org for being able to perform a feat like this under controlled conditions? Again, in all seriousness, I could perform a test with you from here in Rhode Island by placing some object in a specific location, and having someone view it remotely. If an ability like this exists, I would be delighted to see it. Really.
