by ThomasCovenant inthe sunday programme investigates allegations that the jehovah's witness ordered the destruction of documents that could be used during the independent inquiry into child sexual abuse.

New here
by MarkofCane inhello and thanks to everyone for participating on this forum it has really been of much value, for those of you that post here know that your words are not lost you never know who is reading your expressions, lives are being changed and nonsense challenged.
i’m not much of a writer so excuse my untrained writing style and grammar but i want to share my story to help anyone who is visiting here to see that we are real people, fathers, mothers, sons and daughters who have come here for answers, there is no agenda, just searching for truth.
i hope my story will help others as so many here have helped me..

''he'd be destroyed at Armageddon. Other than smoking cigarettes there was hardly anything wrong with my dad,''
Had to laugh at that.
Thanks for sharing.
Looking back, what a twisted way to bring up kids.
Constantly thinking everyone is going to be killed any day now.

''Any way, he gets out of the car and starts jacking up the back end. Just then.........a car pulls up in front of him and 4 black guys jump out and before he could say a word, they start jacking up the front end of his car.........."HEY what are you doing" he asked ............."HEY MOTHER F.....KER!..........YOU GET THE BACK TWO ...........AND WE WILL GET THE FRONT TWO"......they said ........"But this is MY car".......he said .........."yeah?"...they said ......"YES" he said..........10 seconds later they were down the road, looking for more parts.''
That made me laugh, thank you.

I'm a bit confused.
Are we talking about the Royal Commission in Australia that dealt with JW's back in July and August?
Are they still looking into the Witnesses?

Should doctors tell JW patients that there is disagreement about Watchtower's blood policy.
by Lee Elder inthis has been a controversial issue among doctors and medical ethicists.
i think it basically comes down to the fact that physicians have a responsibility to establish the presence of informed consent.
is it really possible for a person to give informed consent if they are not accurately informed?.

'' It's treating them a bit infantile.''
Most Witnesses, including myself at the time, are when it comes to the blood doctrine.
Mummy and Daddy said I mustn't, so I mustn't.

The story of my exit
by mrsObfuscate ini have been lurking here for about 6 months, and being the last day of the year, and ready to start the new one afresh, i want to share the story of our exit from the org.
i have found the personal experiences of others of immeasurable value, (and its been a while since a good exit story has been posted) that i hope this can be of benefit to at least someone.. .
my mother became a jehovahs witness when i was about 9 or 10. i remember initially hating all of the new sanctions put on our lives (no birthdays and christmas anymore) but for some reason i soon after joined her in attending the meetings and eventually got baptized at the age of 14. my staunch catholic father converted a couple of years later.

'' I no longer have to half-heartedly try to convince them [my children] of believing in something I am not convinced of myself.''
That was the same for me.
Your story is probably the same for tens of thousands of others.

The following was from a friend of mine:
Yesterday for the first time in the 2 years we've been living here. Two 50+ year old women. They came via the back driveway so were wandering around looking for the front door. I knew who they were instantly, so eagerly opened the conservatory for them.
Them: Could we interest you in....Me: Jehovah's witnesses?Them: Yes:Me: Not interested thanksThem: Any particular reason for that?Me: Yes I was brought up as one.Them: Oh! What made you leave?Me: Science. The bible is a work of fiction, and not a very pleasant one at that, and I just can'tbelieve the nonsense it suggests really happened. Not only that, but it's not a very niceorganisation; oppressive to women and abusive to children, and totally hypocritical in the way the governing body behave; not to mention the way they change their doctrine constantly. Like every other religion but more controlling.Them: Well, luckily we all have free will so you were allowed to make that decision for yourself.Me: Yes, I have free will, but you certainly don't. Try telling the elders you've read a book by Richard Dawkins called "the greatest show on earth" proving evolution is fact, and see what happens. In fact tell them you've read "anything" that wasn't authorized by the governing body and see what happens. I guarantee your display of free will, will be stamped out immediately. Better yet, tell your friend there (pointing at the silent woman next to her); I assume you consider her a friend right? Well tell her that you don't believe what the witnesses teach anymore. Watch how quickly your friendship evaporates. She'll never speak another word to you for as long as you live, and neither will any of the other friends you have, and possibly neither will your own family depending on how fearful they are of using their free will. All your relationships are conditional, and are primarily reliant on you definitely never using your free will.Them: Ok bye.I then went in and treated myself to a nice mince pie [wife] had just baked. A job well done. Merry Christmas!
