  who escapes more often, those born into it or adult converts?

  what strikes me on this board is the number of adult converts that have left the borg, either fading out or getting df'd.

  from my experience (i was born into it, 2nd generation, left before getting baptized) most of the faders or escapees were also like.

  me, born into it, never really accepted it and just bowed out at the first opportunity.

  GBL: I feel exactly the same way....I just always knew I would NEVER have chosen this belief system if I hadnt been dragged into it kicking and screaming...for as long as I can remember something just didnt feel right....and this was before I had any specific logical objections to the theological nonsense that was being pounded into my impressionable brain!

  FYI, my dad is still a P.O. !! ha ha.

  well so far the "born into its" or almost "born into its" are leading the scoreboard! LOL

  anyone know what the current payment for workers at bethel is today?

  last i ever heard it was 14.00 a week, certainly this must have gone up since then, wouldn't it?

  do the bethel workers and the 'farm' workers make the same?

  who converted as adults (usually precipitated by some horrible experience then "saved" by some drone knocking on their door, hence

  their devotion (and I suppose degree of indoctrination was stronger). Maybe its impossible to demonstrate either way, but my guess

  would be that statistically, those born into it are more likely to ultimately reject it....

  every once in a while, i'll drive thru the blocks of our old territory, remebering the friends, how we would share time in the ministry.

  reminiscing about those i left.

  every so often, i'll pull out the old photographs.

  Did you ever want to just 'FOREST GUMP' it out of the Kingdom Hall?

  the last few weeks of meetings for me were pure hell.

  i got a cold sweat sometimes and just sat there fantasizing about running forest gump style out of the kingdom hall.

  i was getting "encouraged" to comment more too and i just physically could not audibly promote that crap in public anymore.

  my old techniques for escaping the hall during the meetings

  1) sneak downstairs and hang out in the library during the watchtower and read a book I had snuck in my coat pocket

  2) sneak out the back door of the hall and walk a block down the street to the donut shop and sneak back in during the closing song

  I got so good at this during my final years at home I think I only heard 5 % of what was actually said during the meetings. They really should

  have installed alarms on those back doors!

  That is so true. The website for the program could have passed for a WTS-approved commercial. Cant help but wonder what weird agenda this guy had....

  he was raised a dub by his mother, could it be some elaborate mea culpa to mommy for abandoning the borg? weird weird weird.....

  Apostates - blood on their hands?

  don't you think the witness leaders would have given up the blood doctrine and 1914 by now had not apostates made such big things of them?

  haven't they been painted into a bit of a corner where, if they tried to adjust things on blood now, everyone would come down on them like a ton of bricks?

  if apostates were not so vigilant in watching the witnesses' every move, perhaps the governing body would have tried to drop the dubious doctrines by the back door, like so many others that they have discarded when they did not feel to closely watched (organ transplants, for example).
