nor will i deny that there are men and women of science who do not work for money or fame or glory, but rather for "truth", and even for the good of the human race and this planet.. scientists are supposed to be unbiased in their research using the universally accepted "scientific method", being completely objective, and working in the sterile environment of the laboratory, removed from outside contamination and social influence.
they themselves are supposed to approach a subject or investigation with patience and open-mindedness, without prejudice or pre-conceived notions.

I guess I would encourage anybody who feels "blinded by science" to think about that statement next time they turn on their lights, turn on their stoves, enjoy their
air conditioning, take pharmaceuticals and/or vaccines for their diseases, hop on an airplane, post a message on the internet, take their car or drive a bus, go through life-saving surgery, are cured themselves or have their children cured from a horrible disease.....its all the work of us evil god-forsaken scientists!

My knee hurts when I *don't* run.

i like to run, but if i ever go a week or more without running my left knee starts getting very sore.
once i go out an run again the pain will go away so long as i keep running every other day.. anyone have any idea why this would be?

Another 607 / 587 BCE question, How do JW's fix the 20 years ??
by run dont walk inok, since all the evidence and people/scholars etc, all agree that jerusalem was destroyed in 587/586 bce and not 607 bce.
how do the jw's get the extra 20 years, i understand the 2520 years and going back from 1914. but alot of the proof goes by adding up the kings reigns, and it gets you to the 587/586 date, do jw's simply add on a few years for each king, or is their a mystery king that ruled for 20 years that only they know about.. hhhhhhmmmmmmm.

I am a research scientist and professor and have published in the top journals. I can tell you from experience, getting your work published is an incredibly rigorous process. This is what sets the scientific field apart, the peer review process. Before anything is accepted in a top ranked journal like Nature or Science for example, it is carefully reviewed by independent scientists who will most certainly hold the authors up to the most severe scrutiny, demand more experiments, more controls, more evidence. In short, from the time a scientific manuscript is submitted to an editor to the time it is actually published in a journal and made available to the public, the researchers responsible for the data have been exhaustively reviewed, the work revised, revisions made, etc etc. Of course, the system can break down, we cant stop bad scientists from fabricating data, but from my personal experience reviewing the work of other scientists for a number of journals, that is a relatively rare occurence. Even when it does happen, the "bad apples" will get caught, because another laboratory will try to replicate the experiments and not be able to. Its a self-regulating enterprise, and its a system that has worked remarkably well for as long as science journals have existed.

Why don't Jehovah's Witneses offer childrens activities?
by Dragonlady76 ini have always wondered why the jw's don't have a playroom/area or offer kids activities during the meetings.
i would imagine it's been brought to the societys attention at some point.
it just makes so much sense to offer a place where kids and go and play, where they can be read to, have them sing, color pages on bible related stories etc..... .

So incredibly sad, deny them the most basic of childhood joys like x-mas, easter, halloween. Force them into feeling like social freaks by standing outside for the anthem, etc. and then subject to the mind numbing torture of 3 meetings a week and the public humiliation of field service....jesus h. christ no wonder Im so bitter!!!
we all deserve a medal for having survived that with even a shred of sanity intact!!!

Any pain lasting more than a week requires medical attention. Not worth taking any chances, an x-ray takes only a few minutes, Im sure its minor whatever it is.

is the pain relief immediately after the run? If so, it seems you have a chronic pain condition that is being temporarily being relieved by running-induced
natural opiate release, but if the relief lasts more than an hour or so after the run, cant be opiate related. I think a physiotherapist is in order!

Thats true and Jimmy Swaggart is a good example. If enough people raised their voices, it might reach critical mass. The problem is,
the WTS governing body and board of directors are so anonymous and so skilled at public deflection of any criticisms with their legal department,
they dont necessarily make a very good media target. Its hard to fight an invisible enemy (i.e. the lack of any definite "public" figure head for the WTS)
