did you ever feel bad for your kids that they couldnt celebrate holidays, birthdays, salute the flag, etc.
i am sure looking back now it must hurt somewhat and maybe you feel bad, but did you ever feel bad when you believd it was the true religion?

While growing up, what I missed the most was the atmosphere around the holidays. Especially around Thanksgiving and Christmas. All my schoolfriends were getting together with their families, spending time together, and we were forced to go preaching on our days off from school. So it wasnt about the presents, but the sense of the holidays that I missed out on.
todaythings have really come to a head and i have a massive decusion to make by 7pm tonight!.
basically i have been dfed since march tryed to get reinstated two weeks ago but they said no, thing is i only did it for my family esp my dad he is not well and i love him to pieces.
but when i got dfed i had a boyfriend and things have been up and down (hes put up with alot) but he is sticking by my side and i love him and want to be open about him and not lie anymore, .

I think you need to be true to yourself. Dont be unhappy, just to make others happy. Even though they are family. And that can be tough, trust me. But you have to be true to yourself because ultimately, this is your life, and are entitled to live it however makes you happy. Your family should understand.

for me a couple of months ago was in the service meeting, they stated that if the children didnt finish their homework because they were studying the bible or at a meeting that teachers should understand that their meetings and study are more important.

Or the speaker who said that if we are going to miss a meeting, it should be because of one of the "three F's" "Fever, Fire, Funeral" I laughed so hard, everyone turned around to look at me.

i rarely use such language - except when it makes a point that needs emphasis - and this one does.. .
i have run into 3 witnesses in the past couple of days.
I know what you mean. They seem to fall back on the excuse that its an organization led by imperfect men. I cant stand it!
whatever i drink from the fridge, i put it into the microwave for 10 seconds so that it won't be too cold to drink.. .
whenever i drink ice cold liquids, it irritates my tongue/mouth and often triggers a sore throat.
now you have additional proof that i'm weird .
Burning my tongue with hot food, absolutely PISSES ME OFF!!!
It hurts, but getting my mouth burned really makes me mad for some reason, dont ask me why...

i am a "family head" and have a wife and son.
i gradually realized the truth about the truth when my son kept asking really good questions i couldn't answer.
I can almost comprehend your feelings right now. Its like awakening in the Matrix, and looking down at all the still sleeping bodies. Realizing that all that crap that we've been fed for so long, is exactly that, CRAP! Try talking to your family about your feelings and discoveries. Things may not go off the deep end like you think.

twenty years ago i rather arrogantly, i now realize, told my in laws that we, meaning my husband and children, event though at the time he wasnt a witness, would be no longer be celebrating pagan holidays like christmas and birthdays, along side any other family orientated get togethers.
they took this massive news, calmly and without a fuss, and allowed me to breeze through their feelings as grandparents because i was right and had to make a stand and not compromise!.
we, myself, my husband and son, have stopped going to meeting for about 18 months now, but leave my adult daughter with the legacy of still being in this cult.. she is now married, has no children yet, but im sure in the near future will do so.. so now, here i am in the same position that i put my unfortunate inlaws in.
Although your situation is slightly different, I'll tell you what everyone told me when I posted my desire to tell my wife what I thought.
They told it would be best to wait it out. To show unconditional love, and to stay away from heated debates. Trying that in your case, with time, things may turn around...

Dont blame yourself, at the time you thought you were doing the right thing. Is there any hope for your daughter to learn the truth about "the truth"?
to those of you that have been jw's for many years... i would like to know how it is that you have transferred to your new life.
my family and i are in the process, actually, we have left because of many of the issues brought up on this forum.
this, being jw's, is all that we have ever known.
Personally, Im still going through some issues..with my wife still a believer. However, just the idea that I dont have to force myself to do things I dont want to. To realize that Im truly free, for the first time in my life, is my comfort. Its my inner peace for right now.
Others on this forum that have had complete success moving on with their life, could probably offer more advice.
