I do not regret much, as I don't want to be or consider myself perfect, ... just doing the best possible with what I have.

Can losing faith in God be a disfellowshipping offense?
by Emery ini have been pondering this question for awhile.
say a person during a shepherding visit with the elders were to simply state that they had lost their faith in god because of the subject of suffering-- would the elders still have grounds to disfellowship them even if the person did not actually commit a sinful offense?
instead of diving into all the errors, false prophecies, and lies advanced by the organization can somebody simply say, "i have lost faith in jehovah" and walk away without being publically denounced?

No, as it would be seen as something that could be repaired or worked on. Only if they rejected the religion "God's Organization" would it lead to the DF. If they simply said they lost faith but need help, that is what the elders are there to do in the congregation. Although, they would be labeled as possible bad association and I would bet that none of the elder kids would be playing with or being around them.

Simon, apparently they thought ranting and having word wars was a good idea on their Facebook page too. What I read there was unreal and I felt sorry for their employees. Although, if I was in town I might go get a soda or something and see if a floor show happened like what was seen on the show.

Living forever while under the control of a master who does little experiments to test your loyality would be hell. Would be like the rat in the cage, rewarded for hitting the right button and zapped for hitting the wrong one. Soon the rat does as it is told, to avoid pain, but not because it wants to or is happy. Adam and Eve are my hero, the first to say (even in myth)...
"I will not go blindly in the the future, I will not be a toy to a master... I will stand up and do what I want, I will decide my own fate and I will live my life and be me. I will not such for the person you want me to be, I will create the person I want to be."
Praise free will!

I have a brother in law who is by all means a loser. Has three children, all of which are neglected on levels that would shock most people. They live in tents, are fed from food shelters and each one has been held back at least two years. They go from state to state as beggers, and has been photographed a couple times with those "NEED FOOD" signs at a Walmart in the area. His second wife is addicted to presciption medication and does things to hurt herself to get pain meds, even breaking her own foot and worse. When they get money, she takes it to buy meds and not food and the kids are just a mess. All three have been molested by strangers, at least twice and two of the people are in prison. But he still will let anyone baby sit them, so that him and his wife can have private time or get meds. So basically, a loser! Oh, and we reported them to the state many times. Were told as long as he can feed them, give them a place to sleep, they have no money to take them away.
So here is the thing, he claims to speak to God. He claims that God guides him. He barely graduated from High School, can hardly read and was ordained in some small Christian Church that meets in a back room of a grocery store. Yet you know what? He gives advice to those in his church, tells them how to live and gives them direction. People listen to and respect him.... why? Because of religion, and that stupid and unreal concept that because they are "Supposedly guided" by spirit, they are quality.
Could you imagine going to a doctor, and being told God is who guides him and put your life on the line with his advice? Would you seek legal advice from a 4th grade drop out, because he said God was speaking to him? Would you have a man design a building several stories high, that can not read, because he said God gave him a vision? Think about this, and think about the elders of the old congregation too.
I knew of elders who had little education, were in professions like landscaping, janitorial, and other labor "low education" skill jobs. Yet those men came home, put on a suit and people listened to their words like it was some how educated professional level advice. Children died from no blood, people did not report abuse to police, violent relationships carried on. But in the end, these men are not educated and do not hold degrees, PHds, or in some cases even a diploma.
This nonesense is religion and has blood stains throughout history. People should not make life and death, or even important desicions based on low education leadership. Advice, and wisdom is one thing. Listening with the "blank stair" of simply accepting that they speak "God's word" is another. I encourage everyone who left the Watchtower, and any Christians or other religious people on this board. Question who you take advice from, expect more and do not assume anyone is sane. I wish I could help my neice and nephews, but in all reality they are now approaching adulthood and are beyond repair. I can only wait and watch their criminal futures, suicides and teen parenthoods and think "I wonder if they will ever know that blind God leadership was their downfall."
Religion ... making the uneducated respected, daily!!!! and that is SAD

What Would JWs Do if all the GB died at once?
by bafh inin another thread on the board, someone talked about their friend being a sniper in the marines and being very angry at the gb with thoughts of revenge.
it made me wonder - what would happen to the jws if in some strange turn of events, all the gb died at the same time?
how would they carry on if their leadership was snuffed out?

From what I have seen, the GB is not as active anymore in change. Most is laid out and functions without their need to guide as much as it used to be, so in all reality for a JW ... life would go on.

Safety Annoucement on SCAMS
by free2beme ini work in a line of work where i have to help people who have suffered from scams a lot.
so i thought i would pass on some thoughts to people here, to maybe prevent you from having these scams take money or time from you.
oh, and as much as some of these seem obvious ... people fall for them daily and constantly.. 1. an american citizen can not win a foriegn lottery.

I know of elderly people who have gotten calls from supposed utlity companies claiming behind on their bill and will turn off power, gas, phone and water. They have given debt card numbers, ssn, address, dob and so on and not have a clue.
Another scam on the elderly, is getting a call from a supposed grandchild in another country on vacation and arrested. They tell their grandparents they need money to get bailed out or going to a foriegn prison. They are not just good at fooling them, they are excellent. I have called the grandchild and they are only blocks away and have no clue their grandparent is thinking this is where they are. They send thousands and no one ever knows, as they are asked to say nothing.
So many and with money to gain (supposedly) people fall for it all the time. I know someone said "COMMON SENSE" and my response is to say ... SENSE IS not that COMMON!!!
Sad but true.
