  okay, it has been years since i cared about what a mormon does or says.

  so to even question their beliefs and wonder what they mean, has been no interest to me.

  yet when i am watching something that should not even be about religion and they mention something that makes me wonder, i have to ask.

  3/The Garden of Eden in JC isn't such a stretch if you also believe that the continents where all in one place and broke up after the flood.

  That is a stretch about 100 million miles long and reaching to try and explain something that is way of. So, if this is to be true we would have to think that man has been around for millions of years, instead of the Christian held idea that it was 6,000 years. I don't remember God saying that the Ark story also mentioned continents moving and science would be able to find some evidence of something to extreme. Unless of course God is hiding it, easy answer used by most religion. I would say it is just "dumb dumb dumb"

  I did not follow the LDS religion much, not a lot where I lived as a Witness that were willing to talk to us and when we did, the last thing we wanted to do was make fun of their weird religion. People in glass houses, as the saying goes ...

  What it fails to tell you is that God is going to end famine by killing off starving multitudes at Armageddon because they aren't Jehovah's Witnesses!

  Just had to comment that that made me laugh. As I always thought it was funny that the Witnesses presented such a positive view of the future and yet only when you studied with them did you learn the dark hope of what they held that would proceed such a positive ending. Kind of like luring people to your home for ice cream and then once they were there saying, okay now we do the spanking first and the ice cream will make it seem okay. Although some adults might like that and skip the ice cream, but that is a different subject all together.

  no longer being a christian, it has become a mind opening experience to look back and see certian things i once ignored or just brushed off.

  yet now i can not help but see these things and wonder why other christians do not.. if you have ever studied greek, roman or any other cultures religions in history.

  then you have no doubt read their legends, about gods and how things came to be, and no doubt you have enjoyed these and at the same time you must have wondered how people actually bought this enough to make it a religion.

  Clearly there are similarities between Christian teaching and myths of various cultures. So what?

  To start, I respect the Witness resolve in life now and do not see standing up for what you believe in as negative. We all should, right or wrong. It's your belief system and if you do not belief in it enough to push your thoughts, then your weak and I am not weak.

  Second, so what? How can you not be concerned from a belief and faith standpoint that your might be in a religion that is nothing more then another myth based religion? Sorry if that is insulting, but that is the possible out come of knowing that the two religions are coming from the same origin. Labeling it with Satan, now that is Witness like. I have to disagree with you though on saying that my view on Christianity is to hard line with the idea of reward and punishment. Everytime I meet someone who says that and I let them discuss further and build up a trust with them, it ends up that I find out that they do indeed feel the way I mentioned. They just did not want to come across to hard line or harsh in the begining and scare me away. So, sorry if people of your faith have represented your loving viewpoint so poorly. Well, the devil might be doing that too.

  Think of my thoughts on this, this way, as yours sounds like I am in a religion.

  "I am someone who ask a lot of questions, finds answers that make sense, and come to a board like this to bring thoughts up to get feedback from people from another perspective"

  My truth is ever growing, and that is how it should be for all. I do not expect anyone to answer me with, "I want to join you", as I have nothing to join. I just wanted to know if Christian people saw that their religion has a lot in common with Greek/Roman myth. I don't expect a board like this to all come back with "yes!" I expect viewpoints, as before though, not some essay from someone who does not attend. If he did, maybe we could discuss his/her research and not third party the idea. Man and myth go hand and hand. There are some solid views I do have on Christian though, believers = reward from god, non-believers = punishment from God. You must be willing to face this or were all going to Hades (Greek god) ... oh wait, I mean hell. Sorry got my Greek myth and Christian myth mixed again.

  Your comment cuts both ways - if you're not prepared to look at the Christian perspective, why should a Christian

  Perhaps I am assuming a bit here, but that is life. I would think that the fact that I used to be a Witness would show I spent some time already trying to read and understand Christianity. At least a little bit in 25 years of being a Witness ... might have touched on something here and there. As a non-Witness I read plenty on the other Christian religions, as well. Did not turn away from Christianity over night. So that should be common knowledge with the label "former Witness" .. would you agree?

  Second, just because people have different views and say quotes from movies ... could people on this board (I know it is a small amount) stop trying to label people trolls and make it sound like we are double posters. I am not, and find the fact that I have seen the example of both on this thread, WIERDx10!

  Now as to "why should a Christian" ... why shouldn't they? Wouldn't make sense that if you are a former Witness and felt mislead enough to leave or at least see you were in a wrong religion, to start some sort of life path where you read and question everything. Maybe being open minded enough to think, "maybe it's not just the JW's that are wrong, perhaps it is Christianity all together?" Don't hand me a pamplet, offer a Bible study or send me to some Christian link. I just want to know if you noticed that Greek/Roman myth is like Christian myth. Some answered that, they don't. Okay! I see you don't share my point of view and have not read some of the books I read. Maybe in time you will and you will see why I brought the subject up.

  Does the WTS disfellowship mentally challenged people?

  has anyone ever seen a situation where the wts disfellowhiped someone who is autistic, retarded or otherwise mentally challenged?.

  i wonder if the elders give them more leeway knowing that they are not always capable of making decisions as well as a normal person.. .

  I think it has to do with the degree of mentally challenged, as in some parts of Arkansas it might me normal. Just kidding. In all seriousness though, one was in our hall when he molested a girl and it was on the news.
