...well, I speak of many fundi groups. Look at the witnesses as an example, it has been often quoted by their leaders that if such things were legal they would be done. However, with that said I believe Christians are STILL under the Law, as Jesus said he came to fulfill the law but NOT to destroy it... so the Law remains in place.

I have come to the conclusion that Christians are just apathetic Islamist extremists
by sinis in...because for the vast majority of christians, if bible mandates such as stoning, etc.
were legal, they would be doing it in a heart beat.
flame me away, if you like, but i am not a christian, or even religious.

I was reading an interesting book talking about circumcision and how it was NOT Jewish in origin
by sinis init may have actually been egyptian (perhaps much older), but the jews borrowed the tradition from the egyptians.
it was a way for a small priest and ruler minority to alter their physical appearance in line with the "gods".
it was a mark that made this small ruling class "godlike" and different than the rest of the populace... hmmm, interesting.

Jehovah's Witnesses are LITERALLY stupid about FIGURATIVE speech
by wasblind inaccording to the nwt bible under " bible topics for discussion" 1984 editon, it states:.
9. cross a. christians must ( figuratively ) bear stake as reproach ( shameful thing).
( literally ) displaying jesus stake a reproach ( shameful thing ).

Actually the cross, goes way, way back as in Sumerian times. The Cross is actually the interpretation of the four elements of the universe - Earth, Wind, Fire, Water (with the celtic cross circle representing the cosmos). Nothing more, nothing less. The cross imbibed all aspects of creation, from local to macro (cosmos)... and may have even been represented in instruments for determining degrees, distance, and angles...

Are JW's dfing those who buy holiday items now?
by AK - Jeff ini don't bother too often these days with things jw.
the other day, in a chat with an old friend [also xjw] she stated that on a forum somewhere it was being ststated that jw's have ruled that those who would be found purchasing items that are considered 'holiday items' - turkey around thanksgiving, valentine candy, fireworks around the 4th [just a few examples] could face a jc.. any truth to this?
has the watchtower taken such a stance in writing?

I would remind the JC of the following:
Colossians 2:16
New International Version (©1984)
Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a religious festival, a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath day. -

christmas puddings
by tornapart inin our last ca it was said from the platform that the gb has said we shouldn't buy food that is only produced at certain times of the year.
although not specified i imagine they meant turkeys, christmas puddings, easter eggs, hot cross buns etc.
the reasoning that it's attached specifically to pagan festivals.

Life is in the blood?
by sinis inhowever, at conception (life) blood is not present until much later as the fetus developes.
blood is an organ.
now if "life" starts without blood, then is life really in blood?.
-
sinis
I know that, but why? They say that blood = life, a simple celled zygote has no blood, thus has no life...
