Skippy jars, you know, the small ones. Take chiggers and mosquitos, for example (frankly, I wish Noah had forgot about them). I understand Chiggers are some 0.02" in size, smaller than many people can even see with the naked eye. Must've been a real challenge for this elderly man to see, knowing his age at the time.
Wait -- Skippy may not have been around during that time. In that case I don't know.

an ex brother and i were talking recently and he recounted a bizarre story.
he too left the witneys some years ago, got a divorce, and the two children (both boys) decided to stay with his wife since she was still a jw.. one of his boys (never baptized a jw) confided in him not long ago about the sleeping arrangements after he left.
she told the boys that she was feeling depressed and lonely because of the divorce and turmoil that their apostate father had caused her and asked them (ages 15 and 16) to each alternate and sleep with her every other night.. it took lots of courage for this son to talk to his father about it since he wanted it off his chest.

Nothing ever happened, the boy conceded, but those events bothered him even after some 20 years when he related it to his father.
This ex brother told me how much this angered him. He said that while they were all together as a family he'd been away on several business trips and he's confident she'd never done that kind of thing on those occasions.
I asked him if he'd ever thought of any legal action or taking it to the authorities. No, he said, and it was so long ago he'd hate to stir things up for the sake of the boys.

Okay, here's a hypothetical question. Say a woman gets raped by an elder and she wisely keeps and hides a stained garment. She reports him to another elder who advises her to not mention it to the authorities and that they will take care of it. The guilty elder denies it to the JC investigating. They find no guilt. She then decides to overstep her bounds and take it to the Superior Authorities who with her stained garment convict the elder and send him to prison.
What becomes of him and her in the eyes of the congregation? Is he still in good standing, though standing inside prison walls, since there weren't two witnesses to his crime? Is she still in bad standing because she went to the authorities?

Firstly, if I were interested at all in this deal it's not to sell (I want to remain retired) but to buy at discount. There are no more than 30 products and services that this membership has under its umbrella.
I told wife this evening to tell XXXXX at their church tomorrow, get me a list of users (not sales people) and their phone numbers who've been members for more than 3 years. Chances are good he won't be able to get one, which will, in itself, throw up a red flag. If he does produce one, chances are they will truly be sellers. Either way, I would like to ask them some questions.
We're also thinking about one of those pricey TV's, flat panel. You see them at Sam's Club and they look great. I told her to see what price XXXXX would have to pay using his membership. Then, I can do some comparitive shopping of my own.
This all reminds me of the emu excitement several years back. Her nephew got into it, buying a male and female for some $20,000, hoping to one day produce a money crop of hatchlings. After some three years of feeding these things, vet costs, etc., he finally got $50 for the two of them.

One is $795 and the other $2,195
Membership entitles special discounts on many kinds of items, cars, jewelry, eye care, furniture, etc. And, yes, they are pushing for dealers and displayed all kinds of bonuses, incentives, etc.
I am very leery but my wife is pushing me on this one.
Do you know anyone involved in this? Problems? Big advantages?

If any of you lurking are active JW's, please -- please pose this question to one of your most trusted elders. He may have to get back to you with an answer. You have a right to know whether or not the Society recognizes this latest technology (used properly, of course). Yes, this involves the victim seeking assistance from law enforcement officials but that's what the "Superior Authorities" are there for.
My heart is aching for all of you victims who've had the courage to share your painful experience with us.

For some reason this topic evokes thoughts of dishonesty so I decided to look up the definition. I think it is a fair one but I can't remember where I found it -- honest! I cross my heart and hope to ... okay, I better not go quite that far.
Dishonesty is a term which in common usage may be defined as the act of being dishonest; to act without honesty; a lack of probity, to cheat, lying or being deliberately deceptive; lacking in integrity; to be knavish, perfidious, corrupt or treacherous; charlatanism or quackery.
Examples of dishonest entities follow though not necessarily in that order: Weekly World News, National Enquirer, and Watchtower Bible and Tract Society.
