Once again, the WT presumes to interpret what Jesus 'evidently' meant. What does it say in the Bible about 'interpretations'? As far as the 'generation' definition, everyone knows what a generation is. The WT not only changes the Bible to suit its doctrine, but it seems is willing to change the dictionary (written by apostates, so important words like 'generation' are misdefined in order to stumble True Christians)

Have a laugh at these cringe-worthy Watchtower interpretations. JW's must be so embarrassed.

hard to believe these are actually held out as current truth lol.

I could never get my head around all the dates/numbers - it's only since being de-dubbed that I know why.

Stumbling Your Fellow Brothers
by dig692 ini just felt the need to express my thoughts on the matter of "stumbling others" in the congregation.
they tell you that you are accountable for your own soul and responsible for your own spirituality, and then they tell you that you can't do something if its going to stumble your brother.. if a brother/sister sees me doing something not condemned in the bible but maybe is a matter of conscience and he/she is stumbled...why is that my fault?
what makes me accountable for that?

Also, to add (sorry) - I have noticed a 'blame culture' amongst JWs. When Worldly people do 'wrong' (eg., adultery) it's because they are sinners/part of Satan's System etc...when JWs do the same, it often isn't their fault - they (often) do not take responsibility for their sins. As in my example.

Do you think JWs can be ''stumbled'' so easily as they have no Free Will of their own? They are 'programmed' to follow others (GB etc, and that's why they are discouraged from making friends outside the Cong) ?

Not sure as this is same, but you'll LIKE this...one evening, long after I'd left the Org (except for the obligatory 'Memorial' lol)...I organised a 'cocktail party' at my home. All the guests were non-JW with the exception of one (who actually invited herself when she heard I was holding it). As hostess (and not drinking myself), I was busy serving cocktails etc for my guests. Unbeknownst to me, the JW guest had snook a bottle from my kitchen (and had it concealed beside her seat) and was drinking it steadily all night. There was only ONE drunk at end of party - the JW whose husband (non JW) had to fetch her as she was in such a state (and unable to get to Sunday meeting next morning). The next morning I also found out that this JW had been plying my underage daughter (age 17 at time) with booze. Guess whose fault it was? YEP, MINE!!! It was MY fault because I should have been making sure she didn't drink too much!!! Amazing how the other (Worldly) guests managed without being supervised.

New "apostate" here! Recent WT study- 'We may ask you to do something that may not understand' (basically- DO IT)
by 20+wastedYRS ini will get to the big shocker that i read within the last year or two in a wt study article, so please bear with me... i am new to this forum and have been reading postings for several days now, and can relate totally to many of the issues that many ex-jw have.
i was raised "around" the truth and although my parents were never "dipped", they wouldn't allow us to celebrate holidays or stand for natl anthem (not that i care now).
so i basically had many of the pressures and stress that witness kids had growing up, but with no spiritual support, as we attended only a handful of meetings while my parents studied when i was 5or6.

Great that you're joining us Twenty+ . Thanks for bringing this up - not sure I've heard it before but surprisingly, I'm not shocked.

Evil lying Manipulators OR Captive Duped Slaves Duping Others (or some of both)?
by OnTheWayOut ini see many threads that address this issue, but i still don't have a clear thought on this.
so i want your help.. the governing body misleads the members- no doubt.
they do change some of their history to make the wt organization look smarter or better-guided by "jehovah.

Santa Claus
by Joshnaz ini was thinking about if i should start telling my 2 year old about santa claus.
after realizing that i've been lied to my whole life from all the jw bullcrap should i lie to my child about santa claus?
do you think its ok to say, "be good or santa wont bring you any toys this christmas.

Joshnaz, hello ... I understand what you're thinking (and some of that is how the WT condemns lying to children), BUT there's a BIG difference. IF once your lad reaches 10 or 11 and naturally stops believing (because he can now REASON) and THEN you punish him for not continuing to believe a 'lie', THEN you can compare to the WT. As it is, it's a nice fantasy (or maybe it is real?) which he will enjoy for a short time...
