  i'm sick and tired of everyone claiming to be "offended".

  if you are not politically correct, you will need to apologize for some perceived slight.. when i was an elder, i purposely avoided as much as i could, anybody that got easily offended.

  what is it like to have that one true friend?

  growing up in the org, i never really had friends.

  i had many acquaintances, some of which were worldly.

  jw's have an odd idea of 'friends' in my opinion. My jw calls everyone he has had a conversation with a 'friend'. I would call them acquaintances instead. Naturally he thinks all jw's at the kh are real friends. I have tried to tell him they are conditional friends but ....

  I have friends that I have known since I was a little girl and they love me no matter what, no matter what goofy thing I may come up with or get into. It doesn't matter what I believe they will always be there no matter what.

  Luckily I am not a jw so I can voice my opinion on the jw's if he brings it up which is rare these days. Should we have the dreaded jw discussion, I hope he does tell the cong! it would educate them on their stupid cult! and a nice byproduct is that they stay far away from me!

  Sorry your wife is threatening you with telling the elders on you. Does she have any clue how that would sound to a non jw? What does she think of all the news about Scientology and Leah Remni (sp?) tell all and their 'suppressive persons'? (vs jw 'apostates')

  I dunno, that just sounds kind of creepy to me. What kind of nutter does that? what was she like 15 or something? Is she an adult woman? and adult woman who takes pics of cute guys? sound the scary music ............

  Handing out candy

  growing up my parents would barricade our home off by parking vehicles bumper to bumper - you would have to crawl under the cars or over the bumpers to get to our door.

  also, we would turn off all the lights and hide in the back room away from the street.. that was the norm for me.

  As I handed out candy to a little bee, princess and a few very small superhero's I couldn't help but laugh about the stories I have read over the years here about jw's actually hiding out in the dark from these adorable little ones.

  .. these are some of the questions we have received and the answers to those questions.. .. 1. what happened a few months back when atlantis had to disappear.. .. answer: it wasn't so much that atlantis had to disappear.

  it was that atlantis had to take a break due to a serious family situation.

  Your thoughts on Halloween , yes, no or maybe ?

  well its that time again when the ghouls come out to play.

  i personally think halloween is a bit irresponsible and inappropriate from a sociological perspective.. there's something about the intent of frightening young impressionable children minds with frightening objests.

  and feeding them candy which most likely cause tooth decay and stomachs is irresponsible activity conducted by adults.

  Funny, I just remembered as a kid we went to a door and the whole house was dark. There was a note on the door that they don't do Halloween, I think it might have even said they were jw's. Our little gang of suburban kids had never heard of them and that house/family was forever deemed 'weirdos' live there. Hey, we were little kids and pc was not a thing yet. Just sharing from the other side of things.

  As a non jw I can tell you most people do not give a thought to the historical beginnings of Halloween. When I was a kid we went at night and our parents never came with us. How weird would that have been? would have spoiled all our fun in our minds. As soon as it got dark we hit the neighborhood, the boys would even go as far as the next subdivision and would get home late. I think it officially ended at 10.

  When my kids were little trick or treat was in the day time and all the parents went with the kids. Later they returned it to night time. Our school had a dress up 'book character' day (they had to read the book & report on it) right before Halloween so that was usually the kids Halloween costume as well. Not sure what the jw kids did for book character day as the jw's were not on my radar at that time. I wonder if the jw kids got to dress up for book character day? I think they probably started it because of jw's come to think of it, sounds pc enough.

  Many families around here do a smaller area of trick or treat and go back to someone's house for kids party & food and adult beverages for the parents. Nice way to meet all the kids parents.
  

  As for so much candy, the parent still has control of how much a kid can eat at any one time. Around here a dentist is offering kids 1.00 per pound of candy and will be sending it overseas to Military.

  The costumes; I agree some are overtly sexual in some cases. I always made my kids costumes as did my mom. Old bridesmaids dresses did indeed get a second wearing in my house! lol

  I have a strict rule of not clicking on anything jw so as not to give it any ranking with google (if things still work that way) besides, I can't stomach anything from the wt. I broke my own rule and watched a few seconds of the first video. Is it my imagination or is nearly the entire audience a bit elderly?
