thank you for coming to my house so often because you were so concerned about me missing so many meetings.. ( actually, the only time you visited was when the circuit and district overseers were in town.

Not being a jw I am thankful they treated you like that (sorry for your own pain though) and I hope they treat all the flock like crap more often! Maybe then more jw's will open their eyes and find the truth about the truth! Or so I am hoping but perhaps some poor jw will just keep trying harder to please the overlords, sigh, I dunno......

That's why it's a cult, there is no easy way to leave and keep friendships and family for simply using your brain and heart to make your own decisions. For a group that supposedly uses a Bible they have no concept of freedom in Christ.

Christmas Eve Afternoon

well, it's christmas eve afternoon here now in the uk.. traditionally a time when all the panic shopping is over, what's done is done, what you've forgotten you've forgotten, time to raise a glass (or two) and relax.. so may i wish all members/readers/posters a very happy xmas, whether you celebrate it or not, and extra 'get up and go' for 2015.. best wishes to all.. .

Public Speaker Training stifled by wt, it's new 'school' programme.

the 2015 school setup, discussed this week eliminates the last "school talk" by brothers in favour of 'demonstartions" (a la sisters conversations) of family worship sessions and the like.. is this not a shift away from encouraging bright young ones to hone their (under-estimated) speaker skills ---to.

now using more of the die-hard, org-bound, --even elders in indoctrination demonstrations?.

do you see this trend?

3 minutes? out of a whole meeting? This is the mid week meeting? Are you kidding?! my jw is gone for about 2 1/2 hours or more and out of that time there is only going to be 3 minutes of actual bible scripture included? even if it is the perverted 'New New World Translation'. Will any jw notice this?

so, i'm visiting family this week who are all jws.

yesterday, it started with one of them talking about a co giving her some points on time keeping for service.

she is now writing a letter before she drives to service, so she can count her drive time.

The counting of time keeps them all on the hamster wheel doesn't it? no time to think of what really matters, keeps your mind occupied with how to cheat the system so to speak.

Their whole system is devised to keep a jw from thinking at all. Even their so called 'bible studies' are a no thinking zone. Go through the book(s) and regurgitate back what is said, "now you got it!" no questioning allowed, no real research and definitely no deep thinking!

"Dennis blew a kiss to the victim and her mother in the public gallery as he admitted his crimes"- I see there was already a comment on this but I wonder what jw's would say to that? I suppose they would say he wasn't a 'real' jw? even though he was an elder?

i have been going through the most terrible time these past 4 weeks, which has nothing to do with the jw, and everything to do with being abandoned with anxiety, panic and agoraphobia, and a new diagnoses of an illness called pmdd, which robbed me of my career, and it seems, my marriage, as my husband has moved out and left me with our son.

this man, this "stranger", jumped in his car to offer me support, and travelled 2 hours to be with me, despite what was going on with him, just be with me for a few hours and try to help.

what an amazing selfless act.

Great responses and thanks to those who posted quotes from the org.

When my jw first joined up and for quite a few years after that he did not believe that Jesus was not for him but only for the anointed/fds/gb (pick your year of doctrines I guess). It amazed me that he did not understand this simple concept that he must hang on the coat-tails of the higher ups to somehow be approved to make it into the fictional jw paradise. All these years later he finally gets it, I think. It still has nothing to do with what mainstream Christianity thinks of when referring to 'salvation' and most jw's do not consider themeselves 'sinners' anyway, or what they call intentional sinners in need of salvation.

When I talk to mainstream Christians and tell them that the average rank and file jw cannot talk to Jesus (pray to Him) they think I must have it all wrong because after all, aren't jw's just a quirky little denomination who carry a Bible? most of them have no clue at all.
