hello everyone on jwn, allow me to introduce some of the qualifed agenices who legally use our services provided by the food bank.
as a fading jw i am trying to find ways to fill up the time i wasted in field circus and try to make this world a better place.
the food bank is used by our judicial system, we get lots of low-level criminals doing community service, every other day i hear "what did you do?
I posted this experience on JWN years ago, but here it is again for newbies.
When I was going door-to-door a few years before I went to Bethel I met a man who told me he lost his job and didn't have any money for the literature. He said that times were so tough that there was little food in the house to feed his family. His home was a nice one, clean and yard in order. I felt so badly about his situation that I went home and talked with my husband and my mom, who lived next door, asking if we could take the man some food. Both agreed so we raided our freezers and pantry and took the man about four grocery bags of food. He was quite shocked and couldn't thank us enough. My family agreed not to tell anyone in the congregation what we did because we knew it was a "no no" thing to do and were not setting the right example for others in the congregation!
We were in the process of moving to another state and too busy to make a return call and never saw that man again. About two years later, when we were visiting the congregation in the area where we had lived before, a man came up to me and asked if I knew who he was. I said no. Well, he was the fellow we gave food to and he told us he was so impressed by our actions that he agreed to study with the next JWs that came by to see what the religion of JWs was all about and then he became my "brother." I was so happy by this outcome but it crossed my mind then if maybe all JWs were more charitable towards unbelievers we would see more converts, but, of course, I knew the "rice-Christian" counter-argument to that approach.
When I was in Bethel, if there was opportunity, I shared my story with some prominent men in the organization, but doing that didn't change anyone's mind on the matter because being uncharitable towards unbelievers went back to Russell's viewpoint that the only way to help people was by giving away his tracts and Zion's Watchtower free. He taught that this spiritual sustenance would lead unbelievers to become "believers" and then given everlasting life. And that has been the view of the WT religion ever since.
Like BucketShopBill we are trying to atone for the selfish WT beliefs that we taught others by now doing whatever we can to help others if there is a need in a material way. And as we all know, there is more happiness in giving than receiving.
As a side note, the day we returned from Bethel, worn out from the trip, a young JW woman showed up at our door with food for our dinner, the only one to do so or even to show concern for our well-being, and to us her actions were so special. That was over twenty-years ago, and, to this day, we love her as a daughter. Actually she was an elder's daughter, but her mother was Lutheran. This young lady was like her mother who was such a charitable giver to everyone including Witnesses. In time this young woman left JWs, which upset her father greatly. She left because she was gay (which her father never knew of even to the day he died), and because she just didn't believe that God would eventually kill everybody on the earth except JWs!
teachings that have remained the samewhen you highlight the continual ebb and flow of changing teachings, a jw may refer you to the long held teachings which have never changed.
core doctrines such as the importance of using gods name, and the trinity, hellfire and immortality of the soul all being false.
but even here things are not as simple as they could be:.
Jehovah’s Witnesses-Proclaimers of God’s Kingdom pp.146-147 discusses the change of view of Romans 13:1-7 from 1929 onward.
Karl Adams was the major author and compiler of that book. One day he explained to me that it was Jehovah's will that the understanding of the superior authorities changed from secular authorities or "higher powers" to Jehovah God and Jesus Christ. Why did Jehovah want the former understanding completely changed? Karl gives a hint on page 147 of Proclaimers when he wrote these words:
"They [Bible Students and then JWs] still obeyed secular laws, but the emphasis was on obedience to God first. That was an important lesson, one that fortified them during the years of world turmoil that followed. "
According to Karl in our conversation, he said that during the pre-war years of WWII and during WII, if the Witnesses who were caught up in that conflict thought the "higher powers" were secular rulers, such as Hitler, Stalin, etc., they would have been obedient to these tyrants and to the laws enacted by the Third Reich, etc. Understanding that the higher powers were Jehovah and Jesus made them stand firm against these mad men. The Witnesses showed the world they were neutral like the first-century Christians even though many died but they proved their loyalty to God, that he came first.
How about that explanation?

i am getting a nasty feeling john walsh is not going to mention the kingdom hall and the watchtower's scandalous conduct of covering up their hard working productive elder pedophiles!
the watchtower put more effort in protecting their pedophiles than helping victims of the crimes.
i know elders are instructed to call hq first because the watchtower needs to figure out how to avoid any responsibility and instruct the elders to avoid as much contact with victims while guiding the pedophile through his trials and dangers!
It was just a few minutes ago, to be exact at 7:58 P.M., Central Standrard Time, when Joe and I saw on CNN a commercial with American's Most Wanted personality, John Walsh talking. Frederick McLean's face filled the screen when John Walsh mentioned his name. Then a woman's voice began speaking about how McLean molested her. The commercial went by so quickly we almost missed it. We did, however, see the day and time for the program: This coming Sunday, 9 PM EST/8CT.

I don't really know much of anything about reddit, but I gave it a stab and joined and posted. Here's the link:
http://www.reddit.com/r/exjw/comments/2cw8rv/please_contact_me_if_youre_in_the_us_and_between/
I need some information: How do people find my post? Where is the list found of all the new and old subjects in the exjw section? How do I get my website name on the list of all the XJW websites found on the right side of the page?
Thank you "wifibandit" for helping out but I don't understand what you did. Please, someone, give me a course on how reddit works.
While I was at reddit, I accidentally found a post that knocked my socks off. Please go to the link I provided below and read about a JW pedophile going door-to-door and what he did to a 10 year-old girl:

when i read about bethel experiences my mind go to the show locked up raw!.
why would someone subject themselves to this without commeting a crime.. the wife and i went to see bethel in broklyn a few years ago and it was unlike anything i expected.
very cold.. went the bosert hotel and was talking to a brother there and asked how long he had been there, he said 25 years...i asked how old he was.
Yikes, I don't know how I stayed in Bethel for 11 years if it was as bad as some of you say it is.
Actually, for the most part, we enjoyed our life at Bethel; it is a nice life if you're happily married and have a job you love and I had both, plus our son was there too. And the longer a person is at Bethel, the more they fit in because they've learned the ways of how it all operates. We didn't find the people cold because we were part of a community and were accepted as such. Of course, like in all communities, we had our share of troubles with people who we "had to continue to put up with" because they were difficult-natured and had on their agenda to seek power, etc. although some of the most difficult situations I encountered eventually were resolved, some in the most unusual ways. Of course, when I learned about the WT's child abuse cover-up, my whole world changed in how I viewed the organization.
On my website, I'll be posting stories from Bethel that I've never told before, some good, some secret, some ugly. See announcement on www.watchtowerdocuments.org

I emailed the producer asking for clarification about "identities protected" and this is what she said:
When they speak with me or Skype with me, their identity is protected. Our interviews are private. But if they are cast for the documentary show, we can't blur out a main character (if we are featuring their story). I can always speak to them personally and explain the time line and more about the process.
folks:.
come out and join the fun this sunday in times square!
i take the stage at 1pm.

i was informed yesterday that a us cable tv channel named investigation discovery will be broadcasting a 7-part series named "deadly devotion.
" one program in the series is "witness to murder" which will air wednesday evening, august 20th, probably at 9 p.m. est.
check the schedule on the internet which lists the date and time of broadcast two-weeks ahead.
Legacy, if God is cleaning house, it's about time! If Satan is attacking JWs, it's about time!
Actually, I don't speculate on anything to do with heavenly matters because I'm presently too busy trying to expose the harm done by an earthly organization - presently dba JW.ORG, formerly, the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society, Inc.
AMEN!
