i seem to have a bit of confusion concerning the purpose of this website and the people in it.

perhaps i am not computer savvy and do not understand some of the expressions used.

could someone comment and help clarify.. .

My reply:

Basically a board to discuss JW-related issues...we have many former JW's previously from different levels in the org..some lurkers (active or inactive JWs who just read what is written)...some still in the org who may be stuck there due to circumstances....some JW-apologists....an varied mix...

Green jade,

Debator is a JW apologist who used to post here under the name Reniaa. She claims to be a JW, actually under Reniaa she claimed to be a single mom with 3 kids who was raised a JW and pro-Witness but not attending meetings. She then said she was leaving this site to go back to the JW's....but came back under the name Debator...having given herself away with her lingo and spelling errors unique to Reniaa. She is known for hijacking threads, evading questions...etc.

i always find it interesting how emails vary in perception.

two more 'snippets' have arrived and i am posting them for forum consumption (this is still technically 'spiritual food') and discussion.as with the last thread, the original author and those they emailed are not responsible!

i was like 4th/5th on the chain of these emails and none knew of my intent to reiterate the contents here in cyberspace.

The Wt acknowledged that the term 'necessary family business' is their term, not a Bible term. THAT is what they are saying not to take to the extreme (what they consider extreme) and reason that since it is not in the Bible it does not need to be followed, that a member can create situations for contact.

I would say that the intent here is to re-inforce in the JWs mind that loyalty to the Df arrangement = listening to Jehovah himself. I see the whole context here as saying that although the Bible does not speak of necessary family business we should not be extreme about it, by creating necessary family business...the person needs to feel a loss over the Df situation, otherwise they won't come back. That's how I see it.

$79 million tax demand on jehovahs witnesses threatens freedom of religionstrasbourgon september 21, 2010, the european court of human rights (echr) ruled unanimously that the complaint filed by jehovahs witnesses in france is admissible regarding alleged interference with their freedom of religion.. the government of france had imposed a retroactive 60-percent tax on all religious offerings donated to association les temoins de jehovah(also referred to as the christian association of jehovahs witnesses of france) over a period of four years from 1993 to 1996. the government initially demanded a total payment of about 45 million euros.

the amount demanded is now more than 57 million euros (more than $79,000,000 usd), which far exceeds the assets of the association.the echr took note of the fact that throughout the court proceedings within france, jehovahs witnesses had consistently maintained that the contested tax was a direct attack on their religious freedom.

in fact, it had been imposed on them within the context of the france governments fight against so-called sects.
