i thought i would have a look myself to see what the toast signifies and its history this was very surprising.
also, the key words in the quote are "Probably"..meaning it isn't even confirmed as having a pagan origin.

The WT DID correctly quote from the 1995 handbook in its quote on toasting. Of course it is still warped and downright ridiculous to reason that an archaic origin that has no meaning today is a basis to ban toasting.

the last time, i challenged the aspect of a worldwide preaching work.. i said that the work is barely scratching the surface in 2/3rds of the world- muslim, hindu, buddist lands.
or if toasting is unacceptable due to its pagan origins- even if it is not intended to appeal to heaven for a favor it still MAY be viewed by some as such...why aren't wedding rings which have pagan origins also banned due to some who may view it as such?

If the WT is the true relgion because they follow the Bible, for instance they take notice that the bible places birthdays in a negative light so they shun them...why does the WT not take notice that only 1 haircut was mentioned in the bible and this had disastrous results?

Yes the WT is obviously going to battle...if they were to come out with 'new light' they know that those affected by this doctrine would be likely to sue. However, who knows what the publicity and legal pressure will force.

No it doesn't. This JW needs to read the rest of chapter 25 and (s)he will see Jeremiah assigns 70 yrs captivity to the entire world. 70 years applies to Babylonian domination.
