Tables were always used by the sisters in the KHs I have been to. In fact some of the settings of the talks would include places like "sister talking with "so and so" at kitchen table" or any other setting where there would be a table. What was the logic behind the "unwritten law"?

Imagine The Governing Bodies' Frustration.....
by metatron inif the heads of governing body members aren't ready to explode yet, i suspect they shortly will be.. the organization is long accustomed to a certain dynamism - that is rapidly evaporating.
the result is that they must now.
work hard to maintain an image of dynamism!

There is absolutely nothing on those CD-ROMs that was not peddled from door to door. Every issue of the Watchtower and every book on the CD ROM was offered at some time, so I dont think it would be so confidential. What would really be embarassing is if they had all the Kingdom Ministries included on the CD-ROM.

Are you honest when you say your age?
by JH ini know people who don't say their real age, like take off 2 or 3 years.... my mom looks younger than her age, so she sometimes took off a few years.
gee, i'm just the opposite, i rather say my real age, and wait for a compliment saying "hey you look good for your age".
how about you, do you ever lie on your age?

Im honest when I say Im 37; I feel no need to lie about my age; it's nothing to be ashamed of.

Is it crazy at the gas pumps in your State?
by LyinEyes inme and the kids went to rent movies and noticed that there were long lines of people waiting for gas.
we live in shreveport/bossier louisiana about five hours north of new orleans.
we do have tons of evacuees here and so i understand it is going to be busier here than usual.. people were breaking lines to get gas tonite, and you could feel the tension in the air.

Introduction of new doctrines. 1945, 1975.
by MidwichCuckoo inreading a thread about smoking the other day made me think....... previously on this site (which i have spent much of today unsuccessfully trying to find) i recall reading that as numbers of publishers declined at the end of wwii, the 'no blood' doctrine was introduced in 1945 as a direct result in order to boost numbers again.. after the 1975 fiasco, i believe the society lost a lot of followers - and it was very shortly after this (during the same or following year), that the wtbts introduced the smoking ban.
again to boost flagging numbers?
when the wtbts experience a 'failure', do they resort to introducing another doctrine, or is this just a coincidence?

wasn't the smoking ban before '75?

Are you satisfied with your looks?
by JH in.
is there anything you'd like to change about your appearance?.
i'd like to be 2 inches taller with the same weight proportion.. i'd like to have nicer skin.. i'd like to be a little more muscular.. other than that, i'm not too unhappy with my looks.. all things the new system would have brought me..... .

Why No Knocking ???
by Jeannine inmy husband and i are not jw's.
my husband sympathizes with the religion because his entire family is "in".
as a result, he has come to know a local jw (non-relative).

Back when I was a witness I actually thought that I was taking part in the "seperating work" and I thought that I may just actually be guided by the angels to help save someone's life but not all that went out in FS looked at it that way. If you are not in it for that reason why waste yours and everybody else's time?

WHAT'S THE PETTIEST THING YOU DID AS A JW?
by steve2 ini snitched on a sister who used to spend a lot of supposed field service time in a local cafe, but she still counted the time.
she was spoken to by a couple of elders and was never seen in that cafe again.
of all the things i did as a "loyal" jw, i feel worst about my snooping on this really nice lady.
